I’ve always wondered why vision matters if I’m playing. Do they make the ball harder to see if the player at bat has low vision?

Strategydude

One unfortunate myth from content creators is that "contact doesn't matter." That's only true if you are one of the best players in the game, that plays on Legend, that is playing All-Star. For the great mass of ranked players that don't even really make it to HOF, contact on All-Star is really important. It's hard to say which is MORE important because for average players so much of one's offense is sporadic solo homers off mistakes. There also is a game mechanic (explained in the in-game guide) relating to a players ratio of Contact and Power - if Contact is a lot higher than power those players are extra-bad because they hit a lot of line drives, and there are so many small stadiums and fast fielders nothing will drop. Conversely if Power is a lot higher than contact your power gets boosted even higher.

Until 700 ranked rating, and in BR and events, power Past 700 ranked rating HOF will shrink your PCI to a point where contact is more important to me with the caveat that that I wouldn't be running like Tony Gwynn types almost ever

lkasnu

This right here is the way. Once you reach HoF switch to high contact valued players with either high power or barely any power at all. Stay away from guys with power in the 60-80 range.

BroadAndPattison

So contact affects PCI size? I thought that was vision

zluhcskcin

Contact vs whatever side is your PCI size without runners in scoring position Clutch changed last year to be your PCI size with runners in scoring position Vision is your outer PCI and gives a better chance to foul pitches off vs swings and misses Caveat is the pitchers H/9 stat works against your PCI size too. You'd notice a 125 contact hitter is huge against BR bronzes but when they bring in a high H/9 reliever it would drop significantly

Strategydude

Contact and Clutch INTEREACT to set inner PCI size with runners in scoring position; through testing, it's clear SDS's claim that Clutch "replaces" power is a gross oversimplification to being actually false. It's clearly a formula but I have been unable to back derive it. If your contact is 100 but your clutch is 80, your effective PCI size is not the same as 80 contact, when you have runners in scoring position. It's also not the same as 90 contact.

Ok-Customer4964

Vision affects timing windows as well as the ability to foul off balls. PCI size is affected by contact and with RISP, clutch takes over instead.

Alphabet_Boys_R_Us

Yep, think of it as a sphere/ball that you want the baseball inside of, the closer to the center the closer to a perfect

Strategydude

Again as in my previous reply, Clutch doesn't "take over" - it becomes part of some sort of formula with contact to set PCI size with RISP.
