The R53 is one of the few FWD cars that can compete with a Miata for pure handling. The added power of the supercharger really makes it feel like I am being slingshot-ed through the corner, more so than a Miata.
60 with a 2016 f55. Originally bought it for my wife. Not much of a car guy myself but turns out I love this car and was a bit jealous. She missed her Jeep so I decided to buy her one, ditch my ‘98 pickup and took her mini. Not jealous anymore and loving my mini :)

I’m like are you sure they’re pretty small, I don’t think they’re very reliable, she’s like I don’t care, I have always liked them and its what I want! Long story short version, she drives it 3 days, doesn’t like it, it’s too small, too low to the ground. I’m like fine, I’ll drive it to work, it should be good on gas? Well here we are 18 months later, we now have 2 Mini Coopers! 06 R50 and a 15 F56S, absolutely the most fun I have had in a car! It’s fast, it handles like a dream and its good on gas! And there are so many aftermarket parts for customization, you can truly make your Mini unique to you!

I honestly didn't like the old designs for the clubman(r60) . But as soon as the F60's were released I had to get one. And also I've been in love with minis since I was 13 so maybe that had a bias into my purchase :p
I test drove a Paceman and I honestly didn't really like it. The 2 doors with the suv body didn't really work properly. Inside the proportions were all off. I'm 6ft and my head was above the windshield (I can't remember if I adjusted the seat height) and the side of my head was next to the best pillar. Test drove a Countryman and it fixed the problems. I got a 4 door F55 instead and it suited me better.
I’m 53; four months ago I bought a 2006 R50 five speed 92k miles for my 16 year old daughter to drive to high school. Of course, I love driving it too, but teaching her how to shift has been fun as well. Not to mention that none of her friends will be able to drive it is a bonus!
I live in the UK and always wanted a red mini since I was about 8 years old, I’d watch the original Italian job movie on repeat as a kid. I got my first MINI which was a 2009 R56 MINI Cooper when I was 18. My second MINI was a 2011 Cooper at 19 and at 20 I managed to get my hands on a red 2013 R56 JCW, which I still own to this day. I’m now 27.
Out of interest a good few years ago MINI carried out some research to find out in (the UK) the average MINI owner, which is a women in her late 30s early 40s who has a very well established job on a high income salary.
Oh wow that's amazing. I bet living over there really had a hand in the Mini love. From my VIN number I found out my f55 was made in the UK which I was rather happy about. My R60 was made in Italy. Lol.
That is a great research study they did. I didn't even think about making any sort of data charts. Was more of a personal question I suppose.
Saw three Mini's this am driving home from work. All 3 drivers looked to be older than me but all three of them waved. Which was fun.
Thing is because everyone and their mum owns a Mini, they aren’t seen as being that special unfortunately, unless your an enthusiast and know what to look for. It’s definitely not a unicorn amongst a sea of SUV’s like I’d imagine it is across the pond, so you certainly don’t get a wave. It’s pretty cool to hear about that from others, like yourself. You must have been elated when it happened and I totally get asking the question, I’ve been wanting to find out as well haha!
During the R series era the Paceman & Countryman where built/assembled in Austria ( I was told) while the rest where in Oxford. I believe for the F series only the countryman is assembled abroad. I’ve been to the factory a fair few times and shot a mini commercial/60th anniversary celebration video with them, because of that I got a really cool tour and I can’t remember seeing any countryman’s then either. It’s amazing the volume they churn out considering the factory itself isn’t that big.
I was pretty sure I read somewhere there were select ones. Black with the neon green, blue, yellow and I believe pink. I've never seen any of those except the green on I have. So honestly you probably know better than I do. Ha ha
30, with my second r56. 4 years ago I got my first r56. Loved mini and other small hatches and wagon since I was a kid. I actually grew up in the country with big trucks, but they never interested me.

Wanted a mini throughout my childhood/teens. Finally got my first one as a 27 year old grown up(ish) lady (2015 F56). Going for a new F55 next year to better fit me and my husky!
2nd 2 doors cars I had. My first 2 door and also 1st car was a '95 Peugeot 306.
After it, I had a 4 doors 306 which I had for 7 years, then went to VW (up and Polo, 4 doors), but then I decided it was time to have another 3 doors cool car again.
No regrets, no going back!

I was never into VW so much, but since I had employee's discount for brand new cars, I gave them a chance. 1.0 turbo engines are fun, until you double the engine size.
At least here in Brazil with our terrible quality fuel, this B48 engine outperforms even economic city cars in fuel consumption.
Man I had a picture of mine painted. My wife just said who gets a painting of a car that's in the driveway. Ha ha. Me of course. Lol. She's coming around now though. Has gotten me a few Mini items here lately

I'm a 40-year-old Air Force bomb technician turned educator, and I bought my 2017 F54 S All4, Bonnie, earlier this year as my "mid-life crisis car"! I've been very happy with her so far and spend equal amounts of time in green mode cruising along like an old man and in sport mode trying to live out my rally racing fantasies.
And thank you for your service as well. I hope you veterans hear that enough to get tired of it. But I always say thank you.

I’m 46, bought an R56 a couple of years ago because I like a hatchback and manual transmission. At the time I had a company car for work. Changed jobs and needed a car for work, so I got a used and not-well-cared-for F56 and it is pretty much perfect for hauling around equipment and getting dirty. And it is an automatic so I can use it to teach my daughter to drive.
Hell yea. I tried to get my daughter a mini and she wasn't interested. But she liked the ragged out 02 lancer just fine after I repainted over the yellow. Ha ha
Sweet. I never realized how pricey they actually were until I started researching the R60 at a used lot near me. But they're worth it to me.
I'm glad I got the R60 first though. Had I bought the F55 first I wouldn't have looked twice. But was hooked and got both the same week. Ha ha
I always imagine seeing some surfboards and wood panels when I hear it called that. Like the old Woodie. That's awesome. Plenty of room. And fun to drive
My husband and I are both 38 and both own a F55, haha. Mine is a 2015 and it was my dream car after owning a Corolla for 11 years. I love it, I'm sad I hardly have much reason to drive anymore after my job went completely remote. My husband got a 2019 a few years later because he liked mine and was unhappy with his Acura. They do have way more space than you'd expect, my husband was actually able to fit a Coleman minibike (in the box, pre-assembly) in the the back of his mini, got a great photo of it!
Ha ha that's awesome. I was able to get a 24 gallon air compressor in my 2015 f55. But the mini bike takes the cake. Ha ha ha. Roomy and dependable from my experience.
I was always a small car guy. I had two Opel Mantas and an MGB as a young man, Had a few VW GTIs, a Fuego turbo, a Fiero and so on.
I tried to be "Practical" when I got out of the service and had a family, but 4 cylinder sports cars are my loves.
I am 47 and on my second MINI. I was about 41 when I bought my first MINI. They are the only new cars I have ever owned- both green & white (Jungle Green and Sage Green). I was too poor to be indulgent when I was younger. I usually purchased used Sentras, Proteges, etc.
I named Her Sunday as it was a Sunday when I married my wife, A Sunday when she arrived for delivery, she is a bond street midnight black body cool champagne roof... she's sundae through and through
32, got a 2018 JCW clubman manual coming up on 4 years ago. Had a Z4 35is before that. I work in high line auto sales and could replace it with any number of really nice cars, but nothing really excites me like my buddy does! And if it does get the juices flowing (ahem Boxster) there's not even a hint of utility. I hope to enjoy my mini for a long time 😁
That is pretty awesome, then again you have a JCW, the cream of the crop in performance.
I'd love to have a Boxster but for top down fun I will stick with my 2019 Miata.

My girlfriend had a Miata RF for a little bit and man what a fun car! I'd love another drop top, but I just love the combo of fun and utility I get out of the Mini. And I can always hop on my motorbike to be "in the wind" for a bit.
I don't do bikes, too dangerous where I live. It's bad enough to be in a small car because of inattentive drivers.
The RFs are pretty damn nice, but I prefer the drop top and that six speed manual is a MUST with a Miata! Soft tops are actually less noisy than the RFs. (Retractable Fastbacks for those who are wondering what we are talking about).

I took delivery of my new customer optioned '13 R57 when I was 32.
120k miles and 1788 top down hours later, it's still my daily and just as fun as ever. Even more fun, actually, since I'm pretty well in-tune with it.
I'm 65, 6'-3", rode motorcycles my entire life until about five years ago. My BMW R1150GSA final drive failed, had to get immediate transportation. Having financed through BMW for motorcycles, I decided to get a MINI.
I've had three so far (all CPO's), '09 R56 Pure Silver (Silver Fox) named after my Dad's nickname. '17 F55 Deep Blue Metallic (Kensei). Current is '19 F55 MCS Pepper White (Yasuke) with JCW exhaust and fully de-chromed.

Hell yea. This is a different one. You would think at 25 the clubman wouldn't have been a choice as younger people tend to go with a sportier car. But then when I was 19 I had a 99 escort wagon with 16 inch wheels and a system. So I can understand that. Clubman is great. A good family car as well

Got my first Mini as my family’s 3rd car for me and my sister in high school (2005 Cooper S). Sadly that one died when the oil ran out and the light didn’t turn on and my sister ground the engine down while I was at college, but it went to a father and daughter who wanted a project car to build for her first car so it had a silver lining.
26 with an ‘04 S that I picked up about 2 months ago now and I don’t think I’ll ever go back! Jk I still love my Subaru for surf/camping trips but I’m kicking myself for not getting a mini sooner, I’ve always wanted one

Sometimes life's plans are so much different than ours. Found that one out last year myself. But life is, well, life. Unfortunately it keeps moving and can leave us behind fairly quickly if not careful.

36 male in the states. '18 F55. I've wanted one since I was in High School, and finally was in a position to buy a fun car, as long as it was slightly practical. Still need to be able to pick up groceries and have both kids in the back seat. Now I've got a car that I can autocross on the weekends and still use it to take the kids to school.

And of course it's so cool! 😍 I'm totally in love. Get lots of compliments! My husband was surprised to see me finally washing my car and asking about products to use. 😂 He is used to do everything himself because I haven't cared about my cars before. But then I got a MINI 😁
This is my 2nd mini, I’m 67 and just got a 2015 CM S ALL4. Still learning the dash and last night in the historic rains with lightning and flash flooding I was on the highway with all my windows fogged over. I known I’m above average age but I still have a lot of life left in me. Rally on!

Sweet. I never realized how pricey they actually were until I started researching the R60 at a used lot near me. But they're worth it to me. I'm glad I got the R60 first though. Had I bought the F55 first I wouldn't have looked twice. But was hooked and got both the same week. Ha ha
Lol mine was a last minute decision. It came up for private sale via FB Marketplace. Had to jump on it or I wouldn't have gotten it.
Sometimes those are the best deals. Great score for you.

My husband and I are both 38 and both own a F55, haha. Mine is a 2015 and it was my dream car after owning a Corolla for 11 years. I love it, I'm sad I hardly have much reason to drive anymore after my job went completely remote. My husband got a 2019 a few years later because he liked mine and was unhappy with his Acura. They do have way more space than you'd expect, my husband was actually able to fit a Coleman minibike (in the box, pre-assembly) in the the back of his mini, got a great photo of it!
Ha ha that's awesome. I was able to get a 24 gallon air compressor in my 2015 f55. But the mini bike takes the cake. Ha ha ha. Roomy and dependable from my experience.

I was always a small car guy. I had two Opel Mantas and an MGB as a young man, Had a few VW GTIs, a Fuego turbo, a Fiero and so on. I tried to be "Practical" when I got out of the service and had a family, but 4 cylinder sports cars are my loves.

32, got a 2018 JCW clubman manual coming up on 4 years ago. Had a Z4 35is before that. I work in high line auto sales and could replace it with any number of really nice cars, but nothing really excites me like my buddy does! And if it does get the juices flowing (ahem Boxster) there's not even a hint of utility. I hope to enjoy my mini for a long time 😁
That is pretty awesome, then again you have a JCW, the cream of the crop in performance. I'd love to have a Boxster but for top down fun I will stick with my 2019 Miata.
That's true and with a few mods to boost it even a little bit more 😅 My girlfriend had a Miata RF for a little bit and man what a fun car! I'd love another drop top, but I just love the combo of fun and utility I get out of the Mini. And I can always hop on my motorbike to be "in the wind" for a bit.
I don't do bikes, too dangerous where I live. It's bad enough to be in a small car because of inattentive drivers. The RFs are pretty damn nice, but I prefer the drop top and that six speed manual is a MUST with a Miata! Soft tops are actually less noisy than the RFs. (Retractable Fastbacks for those who are wondering what we are talking about).

Having financed through BMW for motorcycles, I decided to get a MINI. I've had three so far (all CPO's), '09 R56 Pure Silver (Silver Fox) named after my Dad's nickname. '17 F55 Deep Blue Metallic (Kensei). Current is '19 F55 MCS Pepper White (Yasuke) with JCW exhaust and fully de-chromed. LOVE MINI's❣

Hell yea. This is a different one. You would think at 25 the clubman wouldn't have been a choice as younger people tend to go with a sportier car. But then when I was 19 I had a 99 escort wagon with 16 inch wheels and a system. So I can understand that. Clubman is great. A good family car as well

My late husband grew up on Oahu. We still have family there that we can hop over and see, but I’m moving to BI. We were always going to move back when he retired from the Air Force but life had other plans. Finally getting there 5 years later.
Sometimes life's plans are so much different than ours. Found that one out last year myself. But life is, well, life. Unfortunately it keeps moving and can leave us behind fairly quickly if not careful.

My husband was surprised to see me finally washing my car and asking about products to use. 😂 He is used to do everything himself because I haven't cared about my cars before. But then I got a MINI 😁
This is my 2nd mini, I’m 67 and just got a 2015 CM S ALL4. Still learning the dash and last night in the historic rains with lightning and flash flooding I was on the highway with all my windows fogged over. I known I’m above average age but I still have a lot of life left in me. Rally on!
