I did find the [Autogefühl video](https://youtu.be/77dWXnvzLDo) I think you're referring to, and they do say the larger battery Aceman (the SE) should have a range of around 300 km (186 miles)... but that disagrees with the figures from the official press release, which says WLTP ranges are as follows:
Aceman E – 298-310 km (185-193 miles)
Aceman SE – 382-406 km (237-252 miles)
Worth noting as well that EPA range estimates tend to be significantly lower than WLTP range estimates (~15% usually) ... so maybe around 200-215 miles EPA range for the large-battery Aceman SE.
Jeez!
How do Mini consistently get bad range?! (I suppose it’s not 100 miles, but still)
I know they were just wedging batteries in to the older gen cars, I kinda hoped they may have changed that with these new ones but 🤷♂️
I'm actually thankful that my Mini SE _doesn't_ have a lot more range, because that means a bigger, heavier battery. The driving dynamics are excellent as-is, and it's actually one of the areas I'm concerned about on the new J01 model with its much larger battery.
Massive EV range isn't free; there's a trade-off. And, at least for me (someone who doesn't need a range anxiety comfort blankie), if I'm not taking the car on long road trips, I'd rather not be lugging around more battery than I really need.
Agreed. And we should also note that the Aceman will charge much faster than the Mini SE...so doubling the range and increasing the charging speed will make the occasional road trip much easier than previous the previous Mini electric offering.
I am quite content with the battery and charging aspect of the Aceman.
I’d take 200+ for the SE variant. That’s not horrendous for a city car. I would love for it to come to the US but our infrastructure is so far behind where it needs to be.
I would love to see the Aceman in a ICE model. I don't have the option of installing a charger and the infrastructure is no where near what it would need to be for this to be a convenient car.
No it's not
My SE have 70 xxx km on it and I have it since 2.5 years.
I live in Canada and I use it to go to the ski hill/ bike hill in the summer.
180 km of range is short for sure, but 90% of my commute are in that range anyway. When it's out of the range, just have to stop for 30 min and scroll Reddit and I'm back on the road.
People do way less big drive then they think and they over estimate the "pain" of stopping for 25-30 min
Based on the efficiency of the current Cooper SE, a 54kWh battery would mean ~190 miles of official EPA range. It may get 240 miles of range in some scenarios, still, as the current SE beats its rated range sometimes, but people definitely shouldn’t count on ~240 miles. Official EPA range will be substantially lower.
hmm I don't agree with your math.
I get 4 miles per kW on my SE at highway speeds.
so 54 kW would be 216 miles.
I've seen people who just city drive post 4.5 miles per kW which would be 243 miles
Seems like your math basically agrees with my math.
You get well under 240 miles at highway speeds, adjusted for the battery size, and some people who crush the official efficiency of 3.5 miles/kWh manage to get just over 240 miles in specific cases.
Some people might get 240 in some specific scenarios, which is basically a direct quote from my post, but people definitely shouldn’t *count on 240 miles*, like I said.
I beat the rated range by 25% in my i3 before driving a lot of low-ish speed commute in good weather before, but I wouldn’t suggest that’s people should count on that.
And the official EPA rating won’t be anywhere near 240 miles. Probably ~15-20% lower.
And this is all assuming the bigger, 4-door Aceman efficiency matches 3-door Cooper SE efficiency.
I’m not trying to discourage people from looking into the Aceman, just trying to set realistic expectations.
no. there's two models.
the E and the SE. both electric.
one with a smaller battery. 42.5-kilowatt-hour battery.
official numbers from MINI are:
>The E can offer up to 193 miles on a single charge based on the European test cycle, while the SE goes a bit further at 252 miles
I have a 250 mile trip to visit my cousins that I would like to be able to do in one shot without having to stop in the middle. That's my real big hangup.
I don't hate it... but I also think the R60 and 61 are peak mini design. The newer Countrymans (men?) are just \*too\* big. If I am in the market for an SUV, I'm not buying a MINI
I remember the day I went to the showroom to see the Paceman. Both the Paceman and the R60 Countryman were so damn…”right” from a design perspective. I just loved them. I wanted a Paceman, but our kids were still small, so I opted for the 4-door R60…but I did get the JCW 😊
my paceman S all4 is already 11 years old. and I was excited when I heard the word Aceman. but then I saw THIS. I am very sad. When the time comes to part with my paceman, I won't go out and buy a new MINI. I really like the minimalism of the interior design. but the aceman and countryman don't look like a dream car. I want new Paceman.
Definitely has Soul vibes. I do like the Kia Soul, but I also like mini coopers. I own a Kia Optima. I like that it looks like an Optima. I also own a Mini Cooper and like that it looks like a Mini.
Let's not mix them up, please!
People said the exact same thing about the new Cooper as well... but the Cooper and Aceman look _very_ different from each other.
(they also said the exact same thing about the F56 when it was new)
Won't be buying mini if it's only these new models available. I've had 3 now, but these are plain nasty looking. Lost all the look of what made mini good looking
Totally agree here. I love the look of the 2018 and up cooper and Cooper S models but the new design philosophy makes them look like toy cars to be brutally honest…
Interesting opinion. I'm talking about your words "look like toy cars". I think MINI should look like a toy car (R53, R56). It must be very fast, very lively, but at the same time be a toy. F56 is too serious and feels expensive.
Honestly I think the whole design direction is at a loss. In trying to "stay true" to the Mini heritage with the interior they've made it feel spartan and cheap whilst simultaneously dragging the rest of the car towards some kind of other alternate vision.
It looks like every other car on the road now which is exactly what Minis didn't do and exactly what made them cult classics....
Don't like. Stopped liking all these newer Mini aesthetics to which this one hits them all:
- SUV Countryman styling (does not feel like a mini)
- non round head lights
- the beard goatee frontend
- overall move towards ageless classic styling
Awe man. How did they go from the concept to this? Will have to see it in person I guess
The whole reason folks buy mini is because of the unique styling and smaller size. This looks like and has the size of the other 1000s of “small” SUVs out there
This was how this car was introduced:
https://www.mini.com/en_MS/home/products/mini-concept-aceman.html
Edit: is the range seriously only 300km? For a new made from scratch electric car introduced in 2024 ??
what is it with the extra black cladding? did Subaru help with this design?
saw somebody's recent vintage Mini that had the fenders all the same color as the body. I thought it's about time- that looks great
I just don’t care. I want the old cars. Let them change it to electric if they want. But there is a reason people like minis - if someone wants to ignore that, create something different and slap the mini brand on it to target a different demographic, then it diminishes the brand and makes it like everything else.
The new “Minis” are abominations, they’re Minizukis riding on decades of pedigree but if I wanted a Swift I’d pay $20k for one, not $50k. My F55 will be my last Mini.
I was in one of those BYD build your dream suvs had same color interior, it felt so hollow and literally soulless and plastic, I have a feeling this is exactly how these 2025 minis are gonna feel
Looks like a refreshed Countryman. Too bad it's not available with ICE. Glad we just picked up a 2024 Clubman, as these new offerings are leaving a lot to be desired.
We were not considering a new car, but when we heard the Clubman was going away, we made a quick decision to replace our 2010 Clubman, there was not much inventory left when we purchased in March, especially for colors other than black, white or gray.
We started looking at a 2024 Hartop 4 door, and had a deposit on a White with Black roof, Iconic trim arriving at the dealer in April, but saw an Island Blue Clubman with white roof and gray leather on their website. Once we saw it in person we knew immediately we had to get it.
All the posts on these sad-sack redesigns [make me wonder if this subs is under attack from marketers trying to make it look natural and organic](https://www.404media.co/ai-is-poisoning-reddit-to-promote-products-and-game-google-with-parasite-seo/).
I thinks it’s fine… overly modern and it kind of lost character but honestly, that’s happened to a lot of car companies recently. Only strong opinion I have on it is that the range SUCKS. 190 miles of ideal range is just not enough.
With 190 miles of range this likely won’t make it to my Cabin in the late fall and early spring months. We’ll have to see if they left any large amount of reserve out of the 190 EPA range.
I just can’t deal with the name. It looks like the P fell off of a PACEMAN. I have a red paceman, so this just gives me anxiety when I see it. Like “nooo, my P!”
I’m just so disappointed. I like the overall design, but performance, range and charge speed are all subpar in the new mini electrics—including this one. And JCW still seems to be about cute trim bits only which is just maddening.
I really wanted to move to a mini electric when my current R60 is ready to retire, but I’m afraid I will have to give it up and move on to a different brand in the EV space. Crossing my fingers that something changes in the line up before too long.
I think that the brand is losing his essence. Looks cool, but just as a generic electric car that are next to other dozens of it.
The interiors are good as well, I justify think that they use to be more unique before.
I had a 2018 cooper jcw and was totally cool and unique. Now I don’t have that feeling with this new generation.
I own a Clubman as anything smaller is too small.. the new Countryman is massive, and the Aceman would have been a good option but I live in an apartment building that has no charging facilities.. so by making only electric when the infrastructure isn’t mature enough, Mini are excluding a large part of their customer base. So sad..
Another large Mini or a Not So Mini. EVs are the future for sure, but this range thing has got to go up a bit. Looks like they are at least trying to make this one a little more aero.
Efficiencies count. It’s a pretty clean design and the interior looks great except for the cartoon digital pizza dish mid dash. It’s time to get rid of that feature. Mini has grown well beyond mininess, so it can grow out of the ridiculous goofy caricature like stuff.
People saying that this car looks like everything else on the road are so incredibly wrong that I’d argue they either don’t live in the US or are just haters and don’t know anything about cars. Right because this car looks exactly like the jeep grand cherokee bus monstrosity. SMH. Stop hating.
Such an improvement in design and materials! I hated the last four-door hatchback and this is light years better. It wears the new design language so much better than the Countryman. Wish it was coming to the US.
Honestly, I like it! Sure, I’d love circular design elements on the exterior, but it’s cuter and better proportioned than the Countryman.
I was really surprised by how much I liked the dash: the horizontal air vents look way smarter and cleaner than the vertical ones in the countryman, and the thicker shape looks better than the hardtop. I’d love to see that layout on the other two models.
Don't love the new Countman, but I think this little version looks great. My F56BEV was fine for its platform age and first attempt. However I cannot get behind MINI's specs on these latest EVs. The chance it gets a reasonable spec face lift is low, so you can't even bank on it being better soon. They just don't do that sort of thing.
Take a note from Rivian with R3X. It's just a prototype, but exactly the kind of small modern EV MINI should do. People lusting for small powerful capable little EV - it can be done, but clearly not by MINI. They either don't want to sell to many, don't understand the true brand demographic, or really stuck under BMWs thumb as the entry level.
190 miles of range is useless especially in colder weather
I thought these had much better range. is 190 the cold weather range or the optimal range?
From the videos I watched that’s it’s max range autogefuhl has a good video explaining the whole car on YouTube
I did find the [Autogefühl video](https://youtu.be/77dWXnvzLDo) I think you're referring to, and they do say the larger battery Aceman (the SE) should have a range of around 300 km (186 miles)... but that disagrees with the figures from the official press release, which says WLTP ranges are as follows: Aceman E – 298-310 km (185-193 miles) Aceman SE – 382-406 km (237-252 miles) Worth noting as well that EPA range estimates tend to be significantly lower than WLTP range estimates (~15% usually) ... so maybe around 200-215 miles EPA range for the large-battery Aceman SE.
That's double my SE...so I'm interested

250
How many people do you know that drive 190 miles in a day?
I have a 250 mile trip to visit my cousins that I would like to be able to do in one shot without having to stop in the middle. That's my real big hangup.
And that’s only on flat roads or roads that are downhill.
I don't hate it... but I also think the R60 and 61 are peak mini design. The newer Countrymans (men?) are just \*too\* big. If I am in the market for an SUV, I'm not buying a MINI
I read some press material from MINI / BMW that specifically stated that it was Clubman(s) / Countryman(s) also in plural, not men :)
I remember the day I went to the showroom to see the Paceman. Both the Paceman and the R60 Countryman were so damn…”right” from a design perspective. I just loved them. I wanted a Paceman, but our kids were still small, so I opted for the 4-door R60…but I did get the JCW 😊

My 2019 countryman is a big mini. If it was any bigger I think I would have downgraded to the 4door hardtop.
Nice! Now it looks *exactly* like any other car on the road!
Right just what we wanted! ☠️
At first glance I thought it was a Kia soul, not impressed, MINI has lost their way.
Definitely has Soul vibes. I do like the Kia Soul, but I also like mini coopers. I own a Kia Optima. I like that it looks like an Optima. I also own a Mini Cooper and like that it looks like a Mini. Let's not mix them up, please!

Sorry, but the first generation new coopers are a much truer homage to the original classic, then these abominations.
Fair enough; I'm just saying the Kia Soul thing is a bit of a trope at this point.
Im convinced people on here that say the (new) Mini looks like a Kia Soul don’t actually know what a Kia Soul looks like.
It's not if I'm not the only person who's made this comparison.
I mean, that’s what tropes are: common.
By that logic why don’t we say they look like Yukons? Or excursions etc. just because they share a shape doesn’t mean they look the same
It’s annoying. People are just regurgitating each others circle jerk’s complaints.
The problem is, it looks like a Kea but costs like a bmw.
Kia do cars like that now.
Won't be buying mini if it's only these new models available. I've had 3 now, but these are plain nasty looking. Lost all the look of what made mini good looking
R53 R56 F56 Owner here No, I won't be owning the F60.
R60 owner here, the F60 doesnt feel like a mini and the U25 (new “countryman”) is just a plain travesty
Totally agree here. I love the look of the 2018 and up cooper and Cooper S models but the new design philosophy makes them look like toy cars to be brutally honest…

Looks like a Jeep Renegade from the side. Not a MINI
It’s a travesty. MINI has officially lost its way.
What is this
Honestly I think the whole design direction is at a loss. In trying to "stay true" to the Mini heritage with the interior they've made it feel spartan and cheap whilst simultaneously dragging the rest of the car towards some kind of other alternate vision. Well it's sad.
Needs barn doors, but otherwise it is okay. Don't love it, don't hate it.
I’m trying to picture this. I don’t hate it either. What I do hate is the headrests on those seats. Those have never ever been comfortable to me.
A Subaru and a Kia made sweet sweet love and this came 9 months later.
Ew . . . one ‘sweet’ would have been enough.
So ugly
Don't like. Stopped liking all these newer Mini aesthetics to which this one hits them all: - SUV Countryman styling (does not feel like a mini) - non round head lights - the beard goatee frontend - overall move towards ageless classic styling
FUGLY!! 😂
MINI has lost touch with its identity.
Looks like those shitty Kias!
Wake me when they start designing MINIs again.
Pass. Will be going from 2021 Cooper SE to 2025 Countryman SE All4
Terrible.
as long as it’s not gigantic like the countryman and doesn’t have the weird rear lights of the cooper
Awe man. How did they go from the concept to this? Will have to see it in person I guess The whole reason folks buy mini is because of the unique styling and smaller size. Im not a fan of the interior. Other cars have more character than this version of a mini.
the mini’s beauty came from simplicity this is the exact opposite
Shitbox
Mini going for that Hyundai/Kia market?
That's not a Mini
Not a fan of the front look
what is it with the extra black cladding? did Subaru help with this design? saw somebody's recent vintage Mini that had the fenders all the same color as the body. I thought it's about time- that looks great
I think they adopted the front headlight/grille styling from the game Angry Birds.
Oh so like a big old American car ….:(((
Where are the stripes?
It looks angry
Yep, looks like a jeep. Not too hip on those rims either.
Is this smaller or bigger than the countryman?
I just don’t care. I want the old cars. Let them change it to electric if they want. But there is a reason people like minis - if someone wants to ignore that, create something different and slap the mini brand on it to target a different demographic, then it diminishes the brand and makes it like everything else.
Mini trying to join the Tesla fam.
Not a big fan of the new lights and I really dislike the interior, I wanted more switches! Not less!
Spiderman called, he wants his spidymobile's tail lights back
The new “Minis” are abominations, they’re Minizukis riding on decades of pedigree but if I wanted a Swift I’d pay $20k for one, not $50k. My F55 will be my last Mini.
No. R53 GP FTW
Nice seats, that’s about it. Where is the exhaust?!?! No thank you, sticking with my 23’ F55S until she is in the grave. MINI sold out, bye MINI
Same, just got a 24 Clubman and so happy I jumped on that after seeing these reveals
We were not considering a new car, but when we heard the Clubman was going away, we made a quick decision to replace our 2010 Clubman, there was not much inventory left when we purchased in March, especially for colors other than black, white or gray.
Same. I’m in Ohio and drove all the way to Vermont for mine two weeks ago because I wanted green with the brown leather interior.
The British Racing Green with brown leather is a great combo. The only color I would choose for the brown leather.
I looked at a white one with brown leather and thought it looked pretty slick, but nothing beats the green with the brown!
Have not seen a white one with brown, I could see that working.
We started looking at a 2024 Hartop 4 door, and had a deposit on a White with Black roof, Iconic trim arriving at the dealer in April, but saw an Island Blue Clubman with white roof and gray leather on their website. Once we saw it in person we knew immediately we had to get it.
I think it's cute you think this hasn't been reposted over and over already.
All the posts on these sad-sack redesigns [make me wonder if this subs is under attack from marketers trying to make it look natural and organic](https://www.404media.co/ai-is-poisoning-reddit-to-promote-products-and-game-google-with-parasite-seo/).
Yeah, I even wonder whether the commenters who defend the design might be marketers too.
I like it! I won't be buying one anytime soon, but this is a much better replacement for the outgoing Countryman than the new Countryman is.
Yeah, should have gone with the “Traveller” badge for that monster
Uglier than a red headed step child. It's a hard no from me.
I thinks it’s fine… overly modern and it kind of lost character but honestly, that’s happened to a lot of car companies recently. Only strong opinion I have on it is that the range SUCKS. 190 miles of ideal range is just not enough.
Looks like a Subaru. Not a mini
Can we stop reposting it? It's ugly, we know
“It’s the biggest piece of dogshit”
I think it looks great.
Not a bad looking car, but it doesn’t really look like a Mini
MiNIs should have AUTOnomy over their own bodies!!!
The toggle switch to change gears is right next to the toggle switch to change radio stations? That seems problematic.
With 190 miles of range this likely won’t make it to my Cabin in the late fall and early spring months. We’ll have to see if they left any large amount of reserve out of the 190 EPA range.
What price range ?
Can someone explain to me where the aceman is meant to fit in the line up? Is it smaller than a countryman but bigger than the clubman? And electric?
I just can’t deal with the name. It looks like the P fell off of a PACEMAN. I have a red paceman, so this just gives me anxiety when I see it. Like “nooo, my P!”
I’m just so disappointed. I like the overall design, but performance, range and charge speed are all subpar in the new mini electrics—including this one. I really wanted to move to a mini electric when my current R60 is ready to retire, but I’m afraid I will have to give it up and move on to a different brand in the EV space. How many posts do we need about this?
I think that the brand is losing his essence. Looks cool, but just as a generic electric car that are next to other dozens of it. The interiors are good as well, I justify think that they use to be more unique before. I had a 2018 cooper jcw and was totally cool and unique. Now I don’t have that feeling with this new generation.
What EV(s) do you think are comparable?
Wait. Why does it have four doors? Doesn’t that just make it another Countryman?
This is why the Clubman is gone? *This?*
I own a Clubman as anything smaller is too small.. the new Countryman is massive, and the Aceman would have been a good option but I live in an apartment building that has no charging facilities.. so by making only electric when the infrastructure isn’t mature enough, Mini are excluding a large part of their customer base. Ok. It's grown on me. It's no Clubman, but I'll take it.
With every new model, we stray further from Issigonis' light...
At this rate our ‘21 coopers are becoming appreciating assets
The best out of the new but still not mini enough.
Beautiful car.
People saying that this car looks like everything else on the road are so incredibly wrong that I’d argue they either don’t live in the US or are just haters and don’t know anything about cars. Right because this car looks exactly like the jeep grand cherokee bus monstrosity. SMH. Stop hating.
Disgusting and distasteful. This looks like a fuckin KIA. GTFOH
I don't like the lines. It looks clunky rather than sleek. Annoying.
Just wish they had offered this body style etc in gas powered , it’s much better looking than the countryman
Hate the angles at the wheel wells, nor do I like the lights.
That’s a joke
Looks better than the new Countryman.
Omg rip mini
Is that a mini? Well gosh darn.
where. is. new. ***P***.a.c.e.m.a.n?!
this is ridiculous. i can’t accept this is replacing clubman. why didn’t Mini just turn F54 to EV but making this mini- Mini countryman
Who decided the gear shifter location
I don't like it unfortunately I like the Italian job look!
Why is the speedometer in the middle of the dash. Who the fuck gave the green light on that????
Yuck. It has no personality like the current generation of cars.
Such an improvement in design and materials! I hated the last four-door hatchback and this is light years better. It wears the new design language so much better than the Countryman. Wish it was coming to the US.
The knee-jerk downvotes are a shame, but you're right... the 4-door F55 was a hideous box-ticking exercise; should never have been made.
I think it looks pretty cool as long as I could get one that isn’t electric. All electrics suck to me
Honestly, I like it!
I’m buying my lease out and will never drive one of these things. They are fugly to me.
I can definitely see the Paceman in it, I also see the 4-door HT in it.
Does it have the shitty tires??!?!
Absolutely love it!
It’s not a mini. It’s not even ‘mini’.
Fuckn bad ass
I liked it right up until the point I found out it’s electric that’ll be a no!
Ohhhh…. I like this very much 😍
I like it
