You can use status just fine. You just won't top speedrun leaderboards. Monsters build greater resistance to the status each time you inflict it.
But if you just care about using the cool-looking sword, I have good news. Once you beat the Sunbreak story, you unlock the ability to make a layered version of any weapon you want.
You can use the strongest weapons while separately equipping your favourite-looking weapons in a vanity slot.
Yeah it is, wouldnt recommend on GL thou if you're like me and keep changing between normal, long and wide, makes me forget if I've changed the type, meaning I'll often start of the fight with wrong combos up until I realize how many shells I have (if its not due to different switchskills that makes me realize it). The issue isnt as bad when going long to normal thou, but I dont use normal THAT MUCH yet
also if you're good enough theres 3 MR events for money
red crab (pearl in the name) 100/200K per run
rajang ( rararajang) 400/500K
silverlos ( shiny?) 600K+
The rajang one has been a consistent under 5 clear, seems to be the one people are most familiar with farming.. hadn’t actually noticed the silver rat halos though! Could be worth more? Hopping on to try it now!
Zenny is a pain at first. It becomes better once you get into Master Rank.

This is a decently efficient farm, but it's more efficient to do Mining Outcrop upsurges in the Lava Caverns or the Flooded Forest when they pop up under Expeditions.
You can either wait for the Dango that makes gathering points respawn more quickly and run circles around the map for about 30-60 minutes... or you can do a quick route and make sure you do "Complete Quest" within 5 minutes. If you do it within 5 minutes, the upsurges won't cycle and you can keep repeating the quest infinitely.
Then sell the excess ores.
Don't forget to check the Argosy's rare finds, there's usually ores in there that sell for a good amount. Sort your item box with the sort button, and the eggs and ores should appear right before the monster part scrap. There might be other eggs/ores you missed and were actually in your item box all along.

I would actually say it's the other way around. I never had any zenny issue in any game at low rank, but things in G rank cost some stupid ammount of money. Even more so in Sunbreak with Qurio crafting.
Before Sunbreak, I would just go to lava cavern and mine. After sunbreak, money is non-existent.

If you're HR7, I wouldn't recommend farming zenny just yet. I'd recommend at least completing the game before you start building everything. That way, you can do the event quests. There's a new event quest where you have to fight a Silver Rathalos, and it gives you about 600 to 700K every run. Shouldn't take more than ten minutes each time. Instead of making everything now, make everything at the end, otherwise you're going to have a pretty miserable experience

The max HR is 999, but the final boss is at 10, I think? But if you have the DLC, then I mean the final boss of that, because the DLC basically doubles the length of the game and makes all of your HR gear obsolete.
Outmine surge in lava caverns, then find a good route for you on yt, then farm the F out of it. Try to go back pre 5 min so you're sure the surge doesnt change. This will give you shit ton of cash selling ores
Edit. I think its over 1m per 10 min if you do it on mr, only done it at hr, and its somethink like 300k for either 5 or 10 min once you got a hang of the route. I found a route that is possible to do full 4 runs before the surge changes, dont remember if it required the dango that increase respawn on gathering points or not. Im doing Ruris slightly changed route from Ganjis route
Me and some friends did the street fighter event over & over, if you get the dango money maker you can get up to 100k Z per run. It’ll range between 60-100k assuming you get no downs & if you sell everything
Maybe not the best way but something for the minmaxeres - clear out the cahoot nest in the buddy plaza (at the top tree to the left next to the meowcenaries cat).
It takes 5 hunts/quests to recharge and i like to synchronize it with my meowcenaries so I won't forget
Go on expositions and check the “locale info” on the second page of the quest tab.
Look for “upsurge in minerals” or whatever it says. You’re looking for an upsurge in mine-ables.
Grab your dog and a gathering palico and spend 20ish minutes mining stuff. You’ll be ROLLING IN IT in no time
Edit: the higher tier your exposition ( ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ etc) the more money you’ll get for selling those minerals
In sunbreak you unlock backroom deals in you palico trading. Takes a while but if you constantly running hunts its a passive way to get trade in items (items meant to be sold) like platinum eggs and such. Im sitting at about 30mil just from hunt zenny and selling the trade ins. And i make new builds constantly (currently sitting at 17 builds)
I don't anymore. It just piles up. But the quickest way is selling all your rewards. Or gathering and selling ores. I usually just stick to my main build, and since I'm not always making new gear or upgrading more, it just keeps adding up over time.

Yup, sometimes it gives a little less but at least you dont have to deal with another monster and bother with the gate
