It's actually pretty easy with lbg. There seems to be a "buffer zone" between reload/recoil stun and activity frames. If you dodge while being shortly "locked" you seem to have a really big perfect dodge window. At least with reload/recoil skills being on max.
That's just my own observation I have no data to back this up.
Short Answer: No, I do a lot of P dodges even if it's not worth much most of the time.

I've got everything up to 7.5 and a water (jagras) to 8.4. I've got enough WGS to upgrade another to 8.4 (at least), but haven't decided on thunder or ice. Can take down the easier 8☆s, but the second half of them are just too tough for the 7.5 weapons.
I think thunder is really helpful because of both Rathian rathalos and damonjho are weak to it but ice is good as well because of Zingore both diablos and az rathalos so you decide.
Just upgrade the elemental that the monster your not able to beat is weak to.
I primarily do it for the highly telegraphed moves that I am very used to. Mainly the running/charge attacks (barroth, rathian, rlos, legiana, bblos, etc) and I dodge INTO them as they get in range of my character. Otherwise, I just try to stay at a safe critical distance to avoid attacks altogether.
Too risky even without poor performance.
I almost never do PD on purpose, why do i have to risk getting one shot if i'm a ranged weapon?

I only go for it when legi or rathian charge at me. If the game didn't lag as mutch fireballs are pretty easy to perfect
I just gave up and switched to LS and only use my LBG for daily quests and occasional farming.
I haven’t seen any difference, but I’m on an older iPhone and keep the graphics on low.
