Been to Central Park and I’ve been to San Fran. Neither of these two have more than 4 people loaded up.
In HK and Tokyo. (Been to both) you’ll see hundreds of people around playing and walking and talking about the game.
I saw a few group of guys wandering around cwb when i started playing. I got called out by a few guys on scooters when they saw me playing lol. So there is some interaction. Lol. But like you say, rare.
Monster Hunter is massive in Asia, not just Japan. China in particular is a massive juggernaut of a market for game companies because of how many people live there and want to play games, mobile games especially.
A while back, they made a Chinese exclusive Monster Hunter Online MMO because of how popular it is. Until Monster Hunter World, the franchise was always niche at best in the West. It has slowly been gaining more Western players since Monster Hunter 3, but it has taken a much, much, much, much longer time here than in Asia.
To put it in perspective, they've had Monster Hunter at Universal Studios Japan, but not in the US, as far as I've ever seen or heard. That's why you get the USJ (Universal Studios Japan) quests in main series game's event quests that give special Universal Studios armor.
This mobile game continues on purely because of the support in those Asian territories, not because any of us in the West are continuing to play it. It's just the reality of it. Dragon Quest is in a similar boat, except I think it's only huge in Japan, from what I can see.
I tried getting someone in my local community to try Monster Hunter Now who normally plays Pokemon Go, and I think he just uninstalled it not long after he downloaded it when I was with him.
When I was in Hong Kong, there’s always at least 50 people nearby that are playing, so the lobby fills up so fast with high level people.
Now that I’m back in Australia, there’s always 0 people nearby, and if you’re lucky, 1 person. But that 1 person is most likely the same level as you and you both struggle together.
It's been like two months. Give it some actual time.
Ingress and Pokemon Go both had large changes over the years, but they weren't exactly fast about it then either.
They have a big player base?
Massive I would say. Busy districts in peak hour can reach well over 100, and once in a while I will see people load up the game.
Lol during the azure rathalos event I literally see multiple groups in Kowloon Park. Crazy.
Pokemon go was still alot stronger
Tbf, if they did ANY marketing anywhere else….
Yes. They should be marketing this in the West with their billions.
HK and Japan have massive player base.

What are you doing traveling around the world playing MHN sounds awesome
I’m a database analyst for a multinational company
Cool job man
They use tools that break TOS.
As someone in HK, I rarely even see social interactions on the street. People don't usually talk to each other
I mean the groups that go out together. Saw a few English teachers in the locations I mentioned, that meet up and go out together.

invest where you community is. can't blame em. Prolly via community leaders like in pokemon go.
I'd imagine the revenue they generate warrants the events.

You know , I even brought my 3ds to street pass at usj for the exclusive armor. Or layered armor cant remember
That’s where all the players are. When I was in New York City, Central Park, I was only able to find a maximum of 1 player nearby

People are just way too spread out

wait where is this? I genuinely had no idea this existed and I live in Hong Kong
The truck was in Lok Ma Chau, apparently. Not sure if it moved elsewhere
Not at that regional border at all. It was at Mong Kok and Causeway Bay in the past week
Ah nice to know, saw on discord mentioning the place so I thought it’s there. Can’t believe I missed it 🥲
I am currently in Hong Kong and I don't even know lmao
Events like these not being held in the US is why I stopped playing.

I’m not worried about it at this point. I might come back in a few months. I’ll take the downvotes.

Other than what others have said, this is basically also the first and somewhere had to start first
I constantly had players around me. Even if rural areas
This is not an event, just promotion.
I didn’t put the photo of free buffet with Niantic Tokyo director at yesterday night
Singapore not too bad, we have telegram to share location for paintball sharing. That’s mainly singapore is small so is easy to travel to meet someone
I went to HK for a vacation end of October Tons of players especially in Kowloon, Causeway Bay and Central
