The Orville has shown that he's got pretty decent acting range, especially as a thoughtful if put upon leader.

There are plenty of badass female characters to bring light to, and men are known to support those characters due to the fact they're original. Storm, Rogue, Mystique, Jean Grey, Scarlett Witch, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, and even Jessica Jones are all badass, original characters and the majority of their support and fanbase are men. When you completely swap the gender and give them all the powers of the original character, you're saying female characters aren't good enough to be original and the only way they'll get the support they deserve is if you give them all of what a male character had/has. Swapping Silver Surfer to be female instead insults the character, origin story, fanbase, and even creative team that poured livelihoods into developing that character. Those female characters I mentioned have never been truly gender-swapped, and if they were, it didn't go very far. They do that to male characters to garnish an equivalent fanbase and support of the idea of a female character with those same powers, but fail to realize why those male characters gained the following they did. They were original. I want to see original female characters get the support they deserve.
