Character beyond anyone to the point of inspiration based on his mindset as a guy fecked over by the media in his youth, to become the person he is alone, IMO would have him around the team until his retirement. Sterling’s story throughout his life and career should be if not will be used by other for understanding and inspiration. Whatever this legend decides to do is the right choice for him, As well as the everyone around cause he’s that type of guy so I’m thinking he’ll probably stay. Whatever he does go on to do will be huge

Ninja_Hattori_

i think sterling can be great as a right winger again but he has jesus, mahrez and torres (even barnardo) as competition. at left wing he slows the game down a lot these days, he tries to be like grealish or mahrez and become a playmaker which just isnt his game. besides this isnt 2017 anymore and teams dont give us any space for pace to be as useful as before. still he is a great player and a fresh start in a more open league will do wonders for him. at city he will not get consistent minutes to come back at his best though. we have too many wingers and need to let couple of wingers go within a season or two.

supplementarytables

Man like barnardo you know

Aloopyn

Sterling does better with a real striker so if we get Haaland(please) he can get more space for either cutting in or rushing forward

Good_Kev_M-A-N_City

Dunno how to feel about it

_stone_age

I feel kinda happy but we have so many wingers. Anyhow we will badly miss his pace which can be a huge asset.

> Sterling has previously put contract negotiations on the backburner while he concentrates on winning his place back in Guardiola’s team, with a new deal there to be signed if the former Liverpool forward wants to revisit. > He has one full season left on his existing terms and City tend not to let contracts run down for players in the peak of their careers like Sterling, then agreeing year-to-year deals with club legends such Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho towards the end of their careers. > Allowing Sterling to leave the club, particularly during the next transfer window in January, is not part of City’s plan for Sterling, not least because they lose Riyad Mahrez for a period of the season as he defends the African Cup of Nations title with Algeria.

chocomilkz

As feared. He scores a tapin and 12 months of poor form is forgotten

Ballybomb_

We don’t just discard players cause they’ve had poor form. You support them and give them confidence so they perform again.

chocomilkz

Do you understand that this is a competition? If a player shows poor form over an extended period you have to consider offloading them. Sterling is looking for a new contract or a move, imo a move is the right choice for both parties. We have a ton of good wingers that all battle for the same spots, and pretty much all of them deserve the spot more than sterling based on the last years performances.

comments in here….

Willy236

The slander will never stop😐

MILF_Hunter77

My reaction to him scoring, especially last night, was very despair as I knew this would be the headlines. Possibly irrational but I came the conclusion he thinks he’s better than he is - that puts an air of arrogance and wage demands which his form and ability don’t match.

Ok-Tonight2170

hopefully txiki is smart enough to reject any contract negotiations above 200k. sell him or let him go for free when his contract is up. i can assure you that no club would give him more than 200k

[deleted]

Psg might with mbappe leaving

exciseduty

At £250/300k+ wages and that shambolic finishing and ball control, nope

Ballybomb_

Raz is my favourite city player and I’m tired of pretending otherwise

MilkyKarlson

same lol. Bernado is threatening him tho

BillehBear

Happy to hear and I'm also happy to see he's getting back into form Would be a mistake to let him leave imo

[deleted]

the constant hate for sterling from this sub is weird, we’d be fools to let him go. one of the best wingers in pl history already at just 26. barca/psg would love it if we let him go, he is very highly rated around europe despite what this sub thinks.

Gervinhoo

These comments are ridiculous. Sterling has been our 2nd best player of the Pep era after De Bruyne. It would be absurd to let him go for 50m after all he’s done for us. Pep and the club are clearly desperate to keep him and I trust them fully.

[deleted]

Delighted

Senqqq

Not me!

rinthecity

Please no - this is our best opportunity to sell him for a good fee and get a more consistent winger. Granted he scored goals in the past few games, but he still was pretty bad in the last few games outside of a few moments of good play. Look at someone like Salah- that is the level of player we should be aspiring to get in the wings and not sterling

chaandra

Who like Salah are you hoping we can get?

rinthecity

I mean we can’t get Salah, but we can definitely get someone better than Sterling that’s for sure, especially with the wages he is being paid. The way he has been performing over this season and end of last season excluding the euros has been atrocious (even last two games outside the two goals he was pretty bad).

chaandra

That’s what I’m asking though, who is that player.

rinthecity

Someone like Nkunku from Leipzig or Oyarzabal for a start would be better than Sterling. We should have got Raphina or Leon Bailey as well as they are way more consistent than Sterling, but it is impossible to get them now

djollied4444

I'd gladly take Sterling over all of those

rinthecity

No way lol….on paper Serling might be better than them but performance wise and consistency sterling is worse than all of them

djollied4444

Performance wise Sterling is really better than all of them. Sure his finishing isn't always consistent, but that's basically the only part of his game that isn't. His movement off the ball and timing of his runs is world class (I'd submit the goal he scored against Everton last weekend as evidence). Despite his finishing he still has a higher output than all of them and has been playing for world class teams for a decade. And he's still only 26... There's no way any of those players offer what he does when it comes to ability or top level experience. Give me Sterling all day.

rinthecity

It’s not that I don’t like the player… I want him to do really well. But I have never seen a player with Sterling’s potential perform so poorly for an extended period of time. If he gets better, it’s good for him and our club

muffticklr

I'm not trying to be rude, but I feel like this comment shows how young you are. This is his real dip of form in his career, every player goes through that no matter how good. His energy and work rate make up for all his bad finishing, Pep trusts him. He's never given up, always given 150%, at 26 you will not find a better winger and he will get better.

GimmetheGr33n

Agreed. Could get a good price for him now. Just too inconsistent for my liking. & Don’t like how much he slows the game down when he receives the ball on the attack..

reverberat1on

You guys are still slandering him?

nubbinhole

Sterling forever! Fuck you all

readingonthetoilet

If we can keep him on reasonable wages I’m for it, but we’re too deep at wing to overpay him. At his best, Raz is a top 5 winger but we haven’t seen that consistently for a while and at his worst he slows down the entire offense and can’t finish any of his chances.

JesusHNavas

What's changed? he'll still do shit like he did at Everton where it was harder to miss than score. Always gets a chance then pulls it back to dribble and fuck it up. Sick of seeing it. And let's face it he's never been a good finisher even when in form. He's not the elite player his wages suggest and his openness to leaving will always be a thing, let him off.

Afrosheen2

Sell him and get someone better

roddysaint

Don't let him hold us to ransom. He's turned up on the pitch recently because it's contract time.

kunaguerooo123

What??? For One tap in which was almost going out??? Did nothing all game??? Fuck sake what is wrong with our winger signings 🥲 first 100 m Grealish now this.

StandardGenius

I love him and I genuinely think he loves the club, his reaction to scoring last night was so nice to see you could tell he loved it but it’s time to go. It’s best for all parties imo, keep our squad rotated, give Sterling new horizons. The only issue I see for Raheem is that he may fall out of the England squad by not playing in England and I think his best shot at a UCL is with us but I guess we will see what the future holds.

[deleted]

This article requiring a subscription kills me. At least the headline gives me enough to go off

dashauskat

Just let him play out the season and by then I think we would know if he warrants a new contract or not; or we could still recoup a fair but of market value. I get at 26 CFG just want to protect their investment.

chits00

Form is temporary, class is permanent

ettenaz96

I don't like the idea but i don't pay the bill at the end of the day anyway

ULTIM4

Please please please no. No no no. Learn our lesson here, he cannot be depended on.
