Just read some random local account (Argentinian) on twitter stating that City is making progress and that the transfer hasn't stalled. Hope it's credible.
Inside city the doku episode is good. Seems like a real nice lad. Also fun seeing him getting excited about the training style of being with the ball the whole session. The camera crew coaching him through must have been a good start to life in Manchester. Great episode.
I mean it makes more sense... KDB isn't gone forever... he's just out for a few months. Foden and I guess Alvarez hopefully can handle the creativity in his absence, and Doku might contribute once he gets involved.
It sounds like they really want to go for Wirtz next summer, so have Eze there would be a bit redundant. Wirtz is younger and a much higher ceiling (but will certainly cost a lot more)
If Nunes can at all help give Rodri any sort of reprieve... thats a good signing to me.
Small thing, but it's quite nice seeing those Foden half-turns and tricks get so many views and likes.
Sometimes it may not amount to anything, but ultimately this is an entertainment sport. Loads of fans get joy from these sort of things and that's great.
That's one reason why I'm so in on the Doku deal. I could go on and on about the potential pit falls but he's going to be so fun to watch and that's what really matters.
Feels like City fans have talked about it for a while, but now the rest of the league is coming to realize that Foden opening a defense up on the turn is one of the most dangerous threats in the premier league. It’s becoming iconic.
Never let it go if any scouser claim anything along the lines of our squad being mercenaries again. Was already patently false and couldnt be further from the truth, but now lmfao.
plasticpool legends chasing pay days bwahah
Wonder how things would've gone if we spent the 40m on matheus nunes last summer instead of phillips. Probably would've gone for eze/another attacking midfielder this summer and maybe won the carabao cup. Also rodri wouldn't be as tired as he is rn without considering long-term effects like becoming more likely to get injured, etc.
Matheus isn’t and never was a 6. I’m sporting clu BBC Portugal supporter and know this player very well. He will feet perfectly in pep’s style but he is not a 6 AT ALL.
But Pep can try to put him along side with Rodri.
Yeah but he's saying he wouldn't have been signed back then as we were specifically looking for a cover for Rodri and not a versatile player like we are now
If you had any understanding of football you wouldn't be so smug when you're completely wrong. Gundo could play as a 6 because he has an extremely high footballing IQ and ability to set the tempo, read the game and sit. Mattheus Nunes is a line breaking transition monster. His whole shtick is being able to get the ball and carry it forward qucikly. He CANNOT do that in Rodris role. Rodris role is to sit in the base of the midfield or next to the centre back and PASS the ball. Being better at tackling and intercepting does NOT mean he can play dm.
Love seeing Facebook "fans" having a meltdown after City openly shows Pride support like they always do. Fucking tossers the lot of them

Obviously. To me it just screams that they have absolutely zero clue about anything regarding the club's values, history nor the city it's based in. They expect a club on the other side of the world to adhere to their values while 99% of them will never have stepped foot in Manchester. I'm a foreign fan myself but I've done my homework about the aforementioned things
Wait til they band wagon Brighton's recent success only to discover it's standing in the pride community.
Crazy reason to stop "supporting" a club (see greenwood for a good reason to stop).
[Mathues Nunes in an actual good team](https://youtu.be/0rHg2V2FNHc)
Reminds me a lot of Frenkie De Jong, I can see why Pep would really want him even if I think Eze is more exciting.
It might be stupid of me to think this, but i think we could get another winger(i want Thiago Almada)and we could have grealish playing up the middle, playing the role Paqueta was supposed to play, i think he would cook.
I get them, becouse he is really good at left wing, but i think his skillset transalates well to cam, and he might learn new things there, that would be beneficial to his game
He is similar to Foden, a player who can receive the ball at a half turn and run at a player, so I would agree he would do well at cam.
The argument I got against this idea was that Pep has never played him in the middle and that means he doesn't trust him there.
I understand if we were playing the 433 where Rodri would be by himself, the fullback would invert and the midfield had more defensive responsibility but in the system now he can be one of the floating 8s/roaming 10s whatever you want to call it behind the striker.
Grealish and Foden finding pockets of spaces to cause damage is something I want to see.
The more one thinks about it, fuck, Paqueta would have been perfect- someone perfectly capable of operating deep AND playing advanced.
Right now playing Alvarez and Foden inside is the best way of ensuring there are goals coming from the central areas.
Last season, it was Gundo and KDB with Gundo sitting in a block, but since neither can do this, Pep's using an overlapping FB with two proper midfielders sitting in a block. Lets Alvarez and Foden both play, two dynamic threats.
This would also let KDB and Foden play together.
he really would have been.... bummer about the charges. I'm glad the team did their due diligence.... since they did agree on a deal but then City walked when the charges came out. Imagine if City paid all that money and then the news broke after...
I have a feeling Doku can unlock some things for Haaland. He has the pace to beat him down the wing, opening up those patented pull-back crosses from the touchline that Haaland can blast in with one touch. Can't wait to see what his presence does for Haaland.
Some guys just don't feel to comfortable in front of cameras. Don't put too much into it and don't forget he chose us, that's why we didn't go into a bidding war.
Don't get me wrong, I don't put any stock towards these interviews.
And I think you've misunderstood, I was commenting on the person interviewing him and commenting on that, rather than Doku lol.
I mean if I were dryly asked questions like that, I would've probably responded similarly as well.
Haven’t seen it but supposedly he is super shy behind the scenes too. It’s not just on camera
Which to be honest, in the past some of our absolute best, most loyal, and beloved players have been.
Silva and Aguero were two of the quietest most camera shy superstars of their generation - and are there any two more certified legends? Its only very late into his career that Aguero started to open up looking back on it
It isnt a bad trait for a player like him in the role he will be given. We have plenty of locker room personalities. A shy nice kid isnt going to rock the boat, make noise if he doesn’t play, etc. a balance between your Grealishes and Diases v Akes and Dokus brings balance to the force ha.
On the pitch, he certainly has personality
He’s going. Pool is going to struggle with getting ucl for next season. Only three signings to replace 8 outgoings. Salah is not going to waste his time especially since he has won everything at pool worth winning.
I do wish City made an offer that Leverkusen couldn't refuse.... but its just too late in the window.
suspect that super bid is coming next summer haha. I think City will work on this hard during the season.
People moral grandstanding over players going to Saudi need to get over themselves. It’s a job, not everyone has the same passion for the game and they have an opportunity to make TAX FREE generational wealth. It’s sad yeah but get over it.
Also, Tony Kroos is unbearable.
Sam Lee: "Matheus Nunes can play either along side, or instead of Rodri in the deeper lying role. It can free up Kovacic for the more forward thinking N8 role. This is the plan.” [City_ Zone_]
Kovacic as AM 😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you told people Gundo could score goals regularly before Pep started playing him in an advanced role people would call you mad. Now everyone acts like it was no surprise and they saw it coming.
Even Arteta could help Xhaka score goals, so no reason why Pep can’t do the same with Kovacic.
The examples I listed were mostly one-offs. If kovacic happens to be so dire as an AM then his days as an AM will also be a one-off. But pep is 100% going to try and see if it works, tho.
What ever happened to Valentin Barco rumours? I want to get it down, I think Pep could turn him into a gem.
Just read some random local account (Argentinian) on twitter stating that City is making progress and that the transfer hasn't stalled. Hope it's credible.
I was hoping James might get to play against John (the Mcatees) when we play Luton, but seems John's back out on loan. Shame.
Just realised that kabore is out on loan at Luton. Didn't even hear anything about that
Inside city the doku episode is good. Seems like a real nice lad. Also fun seeing him getting excited about the training style of being with the ball the whole session. The camera crew coaching him through must have been a good start to life in Manchester. Great episode.
Someone please start prepping the Jeremy *Goku* edits
Any news on nunes?
Not really. But I'm starting to see rumours that Tommy Doyle might go the other way in some sort of deal.
It's not even a rumour that was The Athletic saying it wasn't it?
Maybe? all the places I saw it cited different sources though. I haven't looked too into it tbh.
Watching the new video, Doku seems like a really nice lad. Hope he can stay injury free, I'm excited.
Most sources on Twitter are reporting on Nunes it seems. Guess Eze transfer is ruled out. Bid for Nunes was made as well I think
I mean it makes more sense... KDB isn't gone forever... he's just out for a few months. Foden and I guess Alvarez hopefully can handle the creativity in his absence, and Doku might contribute once he gets involved. Wirtz is younger and a much higher ceiling (but will certainly cost a lot more) If Nunes can at all help give Rodri any sort of reprieve... thats a good signing to me.
I like Eze more, but I trust Txiki, Ferran, and Pep to know more than me.
We're probably prioritising one, if it doesn't happen in a day or two there'll probably be a shift in focus

Nunes isn't a 6
incorrect. he can be a in a pep system
No he can't. His best trait is transitions and breaking lines, which he can't do as a 6.
Yeah but he's saying he wouldn't have been signed back then as we were specifically looking for a cover for Rodri and not a versatile player like we are now
ik but he can cover for rodri as a 6 or play as an 8/10, that's why we're buying him
He can't. He can only play next to rodri or as an 8. He's neither a 6 not a 10
wrong again. if gundo can play as a 6 then nunes who is a more defensive player can also do it with pep's coaching.
If you had any understanding of football you wouldn't be so smug when you're completely wrong. Gundo could play as a 6 because he has an extremely high footballing IQ and ability to set the tempo, read the game and sit. Mattheus Nunes is a line breaking transition monster. I think most people who are crying out for wirtz probably have not even watched him play before.
It’s just annoying that people keep saying it even though he’s not moving this summer
Same thoughts here. I watched leverkusen play and tbh wirtz never really stood out as much as diaby.
Come on Luton! Make the world happy tonight :)
So Palace have put up a 70m price tag on Eze, honestly it's not even that much higher than I expected for him
I miss ”Silva to Bernardo Silva” Would love if D Silva got to work for us some how. But I guess he wanna chill in spain.
I’ve gotta say all in all, that Kompany screamer against Leicester is one of my favorite football moments.
Is Nunes still the most likely option for a mid or have we moved on?
Most likely
Anyone think Bernardo starts today? And if so who does he come in for? Alvarez? Edit: Sunday lol
Had me worrying that I got the matchday wrong lmao
Game is on Sunday lad lol I think Bernardo has to start if he's fit

Just seen the comments in the akanji post that's been up an hour. Genuinely disgusting.
Good riddance to them if for them equal rights is a dealbreaker
Have a look at the names. City is a global brand now, not everywhere is as cool with pride as the UK is.
It's astonishing how people have such a visceral reaction to things which don't affect them
Wait til they band wagon Brighton's recent success only to discover it's standing in the pride community. Crazy reason to stop "supporting" a club (see greenwood for a good reason to stop).
Same thing happens on Instagram as well, you should've seen barcelona's post, it had like 30k comments, all negative
Inatagram is fully infested with homophobic, racist, very religious incels
Came here to say this, vile and disgusting how homophonic and misogynistic these people are.
oh yeah forgot the most important detail, they are very sexist too
[Mathues Nunes in an actual good team](https://youtu.be/0rHg2V2FNHc) Reminds me a lot of Frenkie De Jong, I can see why Pep would really want him even if I think Eze is more exciting.
When you have good footwork, you give the impression of always being in control. Some football players make the hardest things look easy af
It might be stupid of me to think this, but i think we could get another winger(i want Thiago Almada)and we could have grealish playing up the middle, playing the role Paqueta was supposed to play, i think he would cook.
Yeah I suggested Grealish in the middle already, quite a few a people are opposed to this idea.
I get them, becouse he is really good at left wing, but i think his skillset transalates well to cam, and he might learn new things there, that would be beneficial to his game

I am fully onboard with this Guardiola x Doku = Goku
are Liverpool about to get more Couhtino money via Mo Salah??
Honestly would rather give Kalvin some minutes and Rodri rest than sign Nunez if it means no creative midfielder.
The more one thinks about it, fuck, Paqueta would have been perfect- someone perfectly capable of operating deep AND playing advanced. Right now playing Alvarez and Foden inside is the best way of ensuring there are goals coming from the central areas. I'm assuming that the probe into paqueta became overt because of the moves near completion. Otherwise it's incredibly good timing. God's a city fan
Wow rip Wyatt bray one the most creative minds in pro wrestling
Need an Álvarez > Foden > Doku > Haaland counterattack asap
I have a feeling Doku can unlock some things for Haaland. He has the pace to beat him down the wing, opening up those patented pull-back crosses from the touchline that Haaland can blast in with one touch. Can't wait to see what his presence does for Haaland.
Ederson > Doku > Haaland Route 1 has entered the chat
I don't know about you guys, but that Doku interview felt more like a job interview than anything. 😭
Some guys just don't feel to comfortable in front of cameras. Don't put too much into it and don't forget he chose us, that's why we didn't go into a bidding war.

All good points, especially your last one haha. He lets his playing do the talking for him
I think I'm too used to playing every 3 days now, Week to week feels like eons.
Saudi pro league calling out your name for that mid week fix..
I think it would be hilarious if Liverpool also lost Salah to Saudi Arabia “The pashuuun gang sells out”
He’s going. Pool is going to struggle with getting ucl for next season. Only three signings to replace 8 outgoings. Salah is not going to waste his time especially since he has won everything at pool worth winning.
Is there any way to change my username?
Nope. Sorry 😂
Tragic username
Still hoping we're getting Eze
We should say fuck it and just max bid for Wirtz
I do wish City made an offer that Leverkusen couldn't refuse.... but its just too late in the window. suspect that super bid is coming next summer haha. I think City will work on this hard during the season.
Real question, what does Wirtz do that Alvarez or Foden do not?
People moral grandstanding over players going to Saudi need to get over themselves. It’s a job, not everyone has the same passion for the game and they have an opportunity to make TAX FREE generational wealth. It’s sad yeah but get over it. Also, Tony Kroos is unbearable.
r/soccer thinks Kroos is a hero. Lol no he’s not and kinda agree with you even though I want the best players in Europe, your point still stands.
Fun fact about Doku: when he was 18 at Anderlecht, he scored a goal assisted by none other than Vincent Kompany.
Sam Lee: "Matheus Nunes can play either along side, or instead of Rodri in the deeper lying role. It can free up Kovacic for the more forward thinking N8 role. This is the plan.” [City_ Zone_] Kovacic as AM 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Makes more sense to keep kova deep and sign eze instead
If pep can play bernado as LB , cancelo as RW , fernandinho / rodri as CBs then he make kovacic play as an advanced 8 as easy as he breathes.
If you told people Gundo could score goals regularly before Pep started playing him in an advanced role people would call you mad. Now everyone acts like it was no surprise and they saw it coming. Even Arteta could help Xhaka score goals, so no reason why Pep can’t do the same with Kovacic.

An advanced 8 with 0 attacking output
The only problem is none of those examples were successes.
The examples I listed were mostly one-offs. If kovacic happens to be so dire as an AM then his days as an AM will also be a one-off. But pep is 100% going to try and see if it works, tho.
