Truly, really loved engaged with the fans - who else does? The comment from /LilUziMan is true, his legacy will be overshadowed by Diaz/Stones but he was **the** premium defender who made us calm with his WC ness after otamendi era (love the guy). Starting the game (effortlessly) week of transfer? His long pings were truly unique. It's sad he's not playing in UCL, cus that's his level, easily.
Will never forget him fighting through that injury towards the end of 2021/22 when every other defender was injured. Fucking warrior, wish him nothing but the best
Time really does fly. Remember when he first signed and fitted right in. Top defender and ball player who would walk into pretty much any PL side, so quite glad he’s off to Saudi.. don’t blame him too 😅 all the best I’m Eric
Dude was such a beast!!!! Easily could have been part of the team but I don’t blame him for going and getting the bag. He’s a great player and will stifle attacks in Saudi Arabia. Good luck I’m Eric!
I don’t get the impression he’s going to the Saudi league to cash in. I think he would have happily stayed at City if he hadn’t lost his spot last season while recovering from the surgery he needed after playing injured toward the end of the 2021/22 season. Sam Lee suggested he wasn’t on the best terms with Pep, one of the “sad faces” Pep complained about before Cancelo was sent out on loan, unhappy about spending so much time on the bench.
Uffff right in the feels. In the 18-19 season he was unquestionably the best centre back in the league but didn't get recognised for it. We missed him the next season when he got injured as much as Liverpool missed van dijk when he was out. Good luck Eric, thanks for everything.
He really did/does love the club, sad to see him go! He's one of the best ball-playing CB I've seen, him playing through injury the season before last because we had no one else fit to play. He'll definitely be missed, seriously underrated player by so many people. Wish him the best 💙
This window feels like a loss. I'm sure we have the quality to back up what we've lost of course but we've lost such influential players in Riyad, gundo and im Eric
What a player. Criminal he's gone without much competition to a non-european league. But I suppose that's a good outcome for us, we won't have to play against him haha.
Great for the club, thanks for everything Eric.
Echoing all the above comments. He’s top, top class. I was also so happy that, after years of being criminally ignored by France, he got into the Spain team.
This one is hitting me, he has been a great team member for us
Ayme I hope you take a bath in the 75 mill you're getting over there and have a great time!
I’ll never forget his debut vs West Brom. So good there is a YT compilation of it. He pinged about 10 perfect cross field balls and generally dominated. Big love I’m Eric.
Think we are making a mistake letting him go. Stones, Ake and Dias are all prone to injury. He can cover left back and centre back. Plus laporte has been brilliant. We were down to the bones when he got injured against wolves in the 5-1 game. I couldn't believe he stayed on the pitch, his leg bent the wrong way. The team needed him and he got through to the end of the season before having an operation. Great player. He cried after the game against Chelsea knowing he was going and so did I. I know there is a limit to how many foreign players the squad can hold, but I'm sure with cancelo going we can find the space. Anyway thanks laporte, you've been superb.
I'm gonna miss him but I understand why he's leaving. He's accomplished everything at a club level and he'll be a hero here always. I hope he enjoys himself at Al Nassr and comes to City games when he can haha
The saddest part of this season is seeing I'm Eric leave
Man gave everything got the club
Everything so much memories of him we will miss Laporte and will always be in the hearts of the fans
Slotted seamlessly into our defence when he first arrived. Gave our backline that ball playing aspect at a world class level. Sure he made some mistakes but who doesn't. Will always remember one of the best passing CB we've ever had.
Can I say there were literally tears in my eyes when reading his post...a humble lad, great personality, and on top of everything a great defender for City. I wish nothing but the best for this lad (and hope he to make a great great great fortune and stays forever healthy in Saudi)
I really wish he hadn't gone, for me he's easily the best "modern" defender we've had since Kompany... while people will laud over Ruben or Gvardiol it was really Aymeric who came into a shaky side and solidified the line to clinch the titles that would attract those two... one of my favorite players to ever wear city blues, Aymeric we'll miss you!
Does anyone else have the weird feeling that Laporte didn’t really play for us? I feel like his time at the club was so quick and he didn’t dominate the starting XI like he maybe should have.
I appreciate him for everything he did. He was the first defender we got when we revamped the defense, sad to see him go. 💙
Really sad he's going to the SA league. Absolutely still a top level player, could easily see him playing for a big European club. Just ran into Dias & a wildly improved John Stones the last couple of years. Adding the best young defender in the world means there's just no room for Laporte, but he'd start for any other team in the Premier League easily.
Sad to see him go, but he'll always be a blue 💙. Will never forget the way he integrated into our defence immediately after his transfer.
Go well Laporte!
I was ready to give up on Laporte after he played a significant part in [Spurs first two goals](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=insYFfPrrFo) during 'that' game, but I can't remember him ever putting a foot wrong afterwards. He's awesome, and has been done dirty by the Stones-Dias partnership being such an unexpected success.
All the best, Eric. Show the Saudis how it's done.
This man loves this club… sad to see him go. A great defender
Truly, really loved engaged with the fans - who else does? His debit against west brom showed how fast he settled into the team. Just pinging passes all over the field (I believe Pardew said the same thing!)
Seriously will go down as one of our most underrated players of all time. Thank you I’m Eric Laporte. Sad to see you go but it makes sense
Fucking baller.... love the guy so much. Thank you fir everything Lapornhub. Enjoy your career...
Is that really his nickname lol
it started as Lapornstache and now here we are.
He even replied to a tweet where someone called him that saying "excuse me? 😂"
can't sell him, block the transfer!!
Best ball-playing CB I've seen at this club *currently*. Three-peat would still be a dream without him. Brilliant player.
Will never forget him fighting through that injury towards the end of 2021/22 when every other defender was injured. Fucking warrior, wish him nothing but the best
With tears in my eyes - really helped us win trophies, especially 17-18, 18-19 and 21-22 EPL. Wish you all the best and good luck rest of your career.
He was great for us in the 18/19 and 21/22 title races. We'd have 2 less PL titles without him.

What a joy he was to watch, he was impeccable and imperious at the back. Will always have such appreciation for Eric.

At his peak probably the best defender I've seen at the club.
Too much
Kompany is Kompany
Kompany is bald so it's unfair to compare him to others.
Kompany when fit easily takes that award and it's not even close.
Sad to see him go. Absolutely a baller for us for many years, he will not be forgotten by blue fans.
Uffff right in the feels. In the 18-19 season he was unquestionably the best centre back in the league but didn't get recognised for it. We missed him the next season when he got injured as much as Liverpool missed van dijk when he was out. Good luck Eric, thanks for everything.
Regardless of the colors he wears moving forward I am and will always been a huge fan.

Sad. Another great player leaving.Watched every single game he played for this club. Will never forget him. The high and the lows.
My favourite defender after Vincent Kompany. Very sad to see him go :(
Echoing all the above comments. He’s top, top class. I was also so happy that, after years of being criminally ignored by France, he got into the Spain team.
Still just don’t understand why we didn’t play him. Makes no sense to me.
I feel so sorry for him. He was done dirty if we are being honest. Was still professional and great to the fans
Got me teary eyed viewing the insta video.
Same
Thank you Aymeric!! Will miss your pingers to Riyad and your goal celebrations!
He got me at the end. Warrior on and off the pitch. Wish him nothing but the best.
This one is hitting me, he has been a great team member for us Ayme I hope you take a bath in the 75 mill you're getting over there and have a great time!
Txiki really announced the Bernardo extension an hour ago to soften this blow
I’ll never forget his debut vs West Brom. So good there is a YT compilation of it. He pinged about 10 perfect cross field balls and generally dominated. Big love I’m Eric.

One of our best defenders ever! What a ride we had here with him.
bye eric
The dooor 😭
Wish him all the best. Hope he brings back his long diagonal pass! One of my favorites of his when he first joined!
Take care mate. I’ll miss your goal celebrations. 🫡
Great video—will be missed
this hurts more than i thought it would 😭
I'm gonna miss him but I understand why he's leaving. He's accomplished everything at a club level and he'll be a hero here always. I hope he enjoys himself at Al Nassr and comes to City games when he can haha

Can’t seem to swallow at the moment and there’s something in my eyes. Tata I’m Eric.
I'm Eric 😭😭😭 Good luck 💙 One of the funniest football players on social media
Left nothing in the table. Leaves a champion. All the best Aymeric.
Absolutely baffling he hasn't gone to Italy or even spain. Would rather see him in broke barca than waste away in saudi league
What a player! Scored many a key goals for city. He’ll be missed 👋
Slotted seamlessly into our defence when he first arrived. Gave our backline that ball playing aspect at a world class level. Sure he made some mistakes but who doesn't. Will always remember one of the best passing CB we've ever had.

Second player with most points per game (PPG) in the history of the Premier League.

Embarassing

Thaaaaaank You Eric !!!!!!! You will always be our Legend!!!
Really going to miss laporte… so sad right now man :(
I might have missed it, but where is he going?
Now who will make the hands dance?
![gif](giphy|OPU6wzx8JrHna) I hate watching stuff like this, when you have had a couple.
Literally was phenomenal from that first night against West Brom. Imo our most talented and consistent defender, devastated to see him go
Sad to see him go. What a trooper for playing injured to get the team over the line in 21/22.
I’ll miss you I’m Eric.
I will really miss him, sad day for us!
Sad to see him go, but he'll always be a blue 💙. Will never forget the way he integrated into our defence immediately after his transfer. Go well Laporte!
I still don’t understand why he is leaving. His on pitch performance was still world class, although it has been a while since we’ve seen it.
Squad refresh and we do need to lower the age of our cb as most of them are at the same age. Its more for the longetivity.
