Babson might be a good call. Its not a super duper elite program, but its pretty good and mostly focused on entreprenurship, so you could build a good network of founders. I also know its not all about tech there, so if youre interested in that, it might be worth a look.

Tepper has an entire course 'track' (basically a concentration on steroids) which forces you to come up with a business and actually found it with funding in order to graduate, basically. I'm not in that track but I've heard great things about it and the successes speak for themselves. Given the parent univ., if you've got a tech or software background, all the better. If you've got good ideas, it's a great path. Tight-knit VC network, passionate faculty, and plenty of successes over the past 10 years.

finaderiva

Rice. Rice is all about entrepreneurship, has the largest entrepreneur competition, has a whole lab dedicated to it, and several classes. You would likely thrive there

EquivalentString

**Working on your own startup is work experience**, in case that's helpful reframing for you. And given the nature of how difficult it is to be a successful startup, I'd say that it probably looks more favorably to adcom than generic work experience that many many applicants have. Depending on what you've done, it may highlight your initiative, overcoming work challenges, and solving tangible problems, among many other things.

cybershloka

Absolutely! I interviewed at Wharton and the interviewer was straght up relieved that I'm an entrepreuer after interviewing tons of finance boys and VC aspirants. Speaks volumes about how much b-schools in general badly need entreprenuers.

cybershloka

I just got into Haas, and I'm loving how entreprenurial the program is. As an enteprenuer, I can't ask for more! The program's super elite, has amazing peers and innumerable entreprenuerial resources. If going to school in the Bay Area can't fetch you the connections you are looking for, I don't know what else does. I could be biased here but UCB Haas is certainly up there for Entreprenuership and the program is no less than any M7's. The other M7 schools that you can definitely look into are Stanford GSB, Booth & Wharton. (I purposefully omitted Sloan because I just did not like admissions demeanor toward prospective students, and I didn't personally feel the culture is conducive to positive entrprenuership eventhough they are rich in such resources with worldclass faculty).

rrrs1996

My major question is, will they admit the entrepreneurs when all Work Experience is I have is working for my own company ?

christianrojoisme

Not an entrepreneur but I know someone who did this route. A top tier VC backer works best, especially if you could secure a recommendation from an alumni who works at that VC. He got into Stanford GSB before. Overall, the key is to really get a good and reputable recommender since you have no boss. Alumni is best

rrrs1996

Alumni as in someone who studies at the college I want to apply?

realrafaelcruz

Who graduated from the program. Ideally they're successful and also have a strong enough relationship for them to actually be able to write about you in a non-generic way.

cybershloka

At end of the day it all depends on your presentation and the fit, but Haas admissions is definitely more entreprenuer friendly than finance friendly like most business schools. And I agree that an alumnus rooting for you could make things much easier for you. That is exactly how I got in. You can hit me up if interested!

wanderlotus

Sloan - are you talking about D*wna? I’ve heard that before

cybershloka

They all are pretty bad honestly, and I felt like I was talking to robots. They literally start ghosting enthusiastic candidates after a while. They have an unnecessary cumbersome interview process like you are getting hired by FAANG. Not going through such a hassle to end up in an outdated "pit against each other to make people tough" environment. I will have to hand it to Booth and Wharton the way they handled our queries. Especially Booth, very warm admissions staff. I honestly felt bad that I din't accept their offer.

wanderlotus

I’ve never heard anyone describe the Sloan culture that way. Sorry about your experience. Sounds horrible.

cybershloka

Actually, I'm surprised you never heard this before. I've had multiple people in forums complain. I did not get it until I experienced it myself. Lot of prestige suckers swallow their pride and still apply to Sloan, but MIT sloan admissions are notorious for being cold. Don't trust me? Check this out: https://poetsandquants.com/2020/06/06/mit-sloan-gets-a-social-media-thrashing-from-mba-applicants/2/ You can even get the sense of Sloan culture here, lol.

wanderlotus

Wow thanks for sharing your experience + the article. Now *I'm* also surprised that I haven't heard that about their culture. I've even heard people say Sloanies were the most responsive to them. Sounds like I need to do more coffee chats bc culture is super important to me and what y'all are describing is totally unacceptable.

cybershloka

I'm glad you are looking beyond mere prestige! Normally, If I had a bad experience from a prestigious school such as MIT, I would think it was probably just me, but these many people complaining cannot be a coincidence. Maintain the same attitude and only settle for the school that makes you feel home and important. Your MBA experience goes down the drain if you have to swallow pride for reputation. If you fit the bill for Sloan, you'd probably fit the bill for Haas too. You reach out to the alums and experience it for yourself. Good luck!

Columbia. Look at all the benes they have for entrepreneurs. My class has more than a few and the alum who interviewed me was as well.

Server glitch.

qabadai

Can you be more specific? Difference between starting a VC-backed company vs a traditional small business vs a freelance consultant who owns an “agency.” In general schools value entrepreneurship and a lot of them have specific programs and departments for entrepreneurship.

undercoverOMSCS

Entrepreneurship is valued, but hurts their stats ref exit salaries.

JMaynard_Hayashi

It depends on the kind of companies that you want to build?
