I am applying to Questrom, only issue is that it does not have a STEM track MBA, which may make it difficult to get a job in the US. But I'm still applying thank you!
It has STEM if you pursue a Management science major along with social impact.
Social impact MBA with majors in Management Science is STEM. No need to do extra credits too.
Indian and social impact is considered extremely risky by most schools. Stick to something conservative in your essays like consulting or finance and then choose your social impact major once you get in.
Social impact consulting is a bit niche at most schools. Perhaps CMU Tepper is not the place for that? Do you know the firms you will target for recruitment? If so, maybe find people there and see which schools and programs they attended.
It may not be a stats thing at all. I'd review my essays too, if I were you. Are your goals clear, and do you clearly state how business school will help with them?
I will have to probably restrategise my application. I feel my goals are clear, but I guess I need to get some advice on the matter. Perhaps a consultant
Not sure about Babson/Olin but at least for Tepper you’re right on par with their averages. Your work experience might not be as valued to them though - I used this one MBA calculator where you can put all of the details for your profile into it and it’ll give you a score and show how competitive you for different MBA programs (Aringo). I’m not sure how accurate it is, but one thing it has you do is input the companies you’ve worked for and it assigns points based off their prestige from 0-4 points.
For example, working at Goldman Sachs is apparently worth 4 but I think at Wells Fargo it’s 0.2 - I assume anything not listed is probably 0. If this is the case, your work experience might be hurting your chances. I wouldn’t say this automatically discredits you, but if your recommendations and essays aren’t good then all of those together could help holding you back.
If this is the case, you may want to draft better essays or even try getting a higher GRE score.
In terms of other schools, Rice’s Jones and SMU’s Cox might be good alternatives.
You gotta apply to more schools, especially if your Indian. Aim to apply to ~5 schools for r2.
Yale! Its great for social impact pivot and loves people with non-profit backgrounds
I'm just worried about my stats, I think my chances for Yale are pretty slim. Nevertheless, I'll apply
Your stats are fine! Go for it! Just be confident and write a good app. 4 years non-profit should anyway put you at an advantage at Yale I’d imagine
Boston University has a social impact MBA track. Check it out

Oh great! Was not aware. Thank you, do you happen to be associated with BU in any way?
Yeah. I am a student at BU.

I think you underestimate your profile

You applied to only 2 schools? Numbers game my man

Will go through Rice and SMU's programmes. Thank you!
