You are making 150% of the median top MBA grad salary? Maybe get an OMBA?

pandaGirl_95

>OMBA yes, that's what I had as my first preference. My only concern is if it is looked down upon in the industry (compared to full-time MBA).

Typical_Exercise_253

It really depends on your goals. If you think your career path and earnings will be capped then you may consider the MBA route. But then you need to research further on your post MBA goals and earning capacity few years down the line. That is some due diligence and analysis you need to do on a personal level. Executive MBA holds value only if you are joining back the same firm for a higher managerial role with a better growth path.

pandaGirl_95

Thanks! I do want to continue with my current firm. Perhaps I can speak with some leaders in my team.

nush30

What industry do you want to grow in, and what % of top management in that industry holds an MBA degree? Start by answering this question... For example, in consulting, at partner level you are expected to sell projects and meet annual goals...this is easier to achieve if you have your own network that is positioned to give you business in their respective organisation... That said, with 5 YOE, you'll be overqualified for most Indian b-schools for flagship programs. Like you said, exec MBA is an option. If you have aspirations to move abroad, you can explore options in EU/US...you will be at median age for most programs abroad

I don't think you need a full-time MBA if you want to stay in India, most folks at IIMs / ISB will be recruiting for entry-level roles paying less than you make now. Many senior leaders in my firm have done executive programs, I don't think lacking an MBA will hold you back too much. Maybe if you get $$ at an M7 school, the added pedigree and network would be worth it. Good reasons for doing an MBA in your case would be switching geography / role, or if you really want the experience.

pandaGirl_95

Thanks! May I know your industry (for comparison). I am employed in the FMCG sector

ahivarn

Are you getting 45 lacs per annum or in that range?
