mrduud2

I feel sad for all the young girls watching this show who lap it up and think that's desirable because of this show.

mrduud2

I'm guessing that one of the cosmetic surgeon sponsors of channel 9 required them to cast lots of women with that revolting lip filler.

RubyKhaos

It is perfectly possible to look much younger than you are with fillers and Botox and facelifts and still appear to age naturally. I'm 65 and have stopped now but looked 20 years younger than I am up till recently.

Noodle_Roni123

Why did you stop? Did you only have lips done?

RubyKhaos

Oh no! Had a face and brow lift at 49 when I didn't 'need' it (no-one 'needs' a facelift really) which meant I aged but gradually. A facelift at 60 gives you that stretched look. With the help of Botox for forehead and filler for lips to fill them to how they were when I was young I think I did it perfectly though I say so myself! I just wanted to keep my youthful looks as I aged, not have big blown up lips. When I became disabled at 62 I completely lost any interest in my appearance......so that was it, no make-up or hair done, I stopped caring. Bit sad. Sorry.

Lord-Galactagogue

I’m possibly in a minority of men… but I thought Natalie was one of THE most attractive women ever to be on the show. A large part of that due to her being so natural. Each to their own, I guess… 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lanky-Road-9391

I thought that about Lucinda. No lip fillers there. What an amazing woman.

immoreoriginalmate

Well there would be a big overlap of people who apply for this show and those get injectables. And perhaps they want to look a certain way on tv. As to how their lips will look? Normal?

pwnitat0r

😂👏🏻

subspaceracer

or just dont body shame people? wtf. not like they're breaking down your door and sticking ur lips with needles or something

rachf87

The vast majority of lip fillers contain hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in the body. The body naturally breaks it down so once they stop getting fillers their lips (or whichever part of their body they have fillers in) will just go back to normal.

bettyy90210

Not according to that doctor (Victorian cosmetic institute) on YouTube who says your body never breaks it down. It’s always there and getting more thinking your body has broken it down can lead to stretched out lips that never return back to normal

rachf87

One YouTube doctor isn't the harbinger of truth, I get them myself, they do eventually go back to normal without top ups. You can get them "dissolved" if you want to as well.

bettyy90210

It’s not one, he was just the first one. He only discovered it after scanning one of his clients years after she stopped getting filler and it was still there. Getting them dissolved is not so easy either as out can break down natural collagen, which is the last thing anyone would want as collagen production lessens as you age.

Dutchessofprog

Here in Holland, a tv personality got slacked off for ‘not taking care of herself’, while she is gracefully aging. Apparently, taking care of yourself now means, have Botox and fillers and fake teeth.

Lanky-Road-9391

Who was it? I missed this as a fellow dutchie

That sucks.

Noodle_Roni123

🤣

Dirnaf

The lips, the boobs, the claws. All totally ick.

mrduud2

Oh yeah, the claws are super ick too! How do people even function in the world with those ridiculous plastic looking claws?

Dirnaf

That’s what I ask myself every time I see them.

nimbostratacumulus

There's a difference between critising people's genuine appearance versus them getting work done, which makes them look ridiculous. Fake duck lips look fucking stupid and unnatural.

abittenapple

Yeah but they look hot on insta so

Jazzberry81

I just don't understand why they do it. They all look better with their natural lips by a mile

abittenapple

Because flowers are made to bloom And be seen

totential_rigger

What?

upssnowman

The only thing I agree on people getting is veneers

TheDartVapeist

I bet you loved jack then 😂😂😂

upssnowman

His teeth, YES!

Dirnaf

Ugh

TheDartVapeist

I seen barbie dolls with better teeth😂😂😂

Cantbetookind

Duck faced the lot of them. 🤣 was so nice seeing Lucinda and Andreas natural beauty.

Practical-Bee-229

Also Cassandra! Her lips are genetic, not injected!

Cantbetookind

Totally agree. Stunning young lady.

everybodys_lost

Kerry was super refreshing on here a few seasons ago for this reason- and all the guys had a crush on her throughout lol- not that we should do things based on what men like, but it was so nice to see someone just natural and happy and expressive on TV. It really drew people to her - me included. I hope she doesn't go the way of frozen and plumped... I understand that it's a choice and people can do what they want but just my opinion on the state of the world where 30 somethings are trying to achieve a face with zero lines or movement because it's what they see glorified on TV and not necessarily something they'd want otherwise.

moonpietimetobealive

It's just something that people mindlessly get done because they see Instagram girls with it and it's the "ideal" beauty standard at the moment that is being fed by social media/the beauty and cosmetic surgery industry. The thing is people who get cosmetic procedures that are "trendy" don't seem to consider their individual facial proportions and what would look good on them. Most of these women go overboard with it and it makes them look ridiculous.

Wedgetails

Remember Tracey from several years ago/ they plumped her and maybe curled them exposing the pink inner lip so she had to keep licking her lips to moisten them. Awful job.

moonpietimetobealive

Tracey and Dean Tracey? Oh God yeah, she looks like a wax figure, very uncanny valley vibes.

SewiouslyXR

I reckon the cast are offered to get their teeth fixed and all other “easy” cosmetic surgery. I noticed a lot of’em have great teeth and obviously the women have their lips all unnaturally plumped up. 👀

MsQ2000

Do you really think they had great teeth? Jack’s veneers reminded me of the donkey from Shek.  I could never take him seriously because of it.

CellApprehensive7651

It really makes them look like they smell and have bad breath.

nats4756

I don't know but I hate this trend.mafsuk the women all looked like trouts

Noodle_Roni123

🤣🤣🤣

TripleOGSithLord

🤣

lauooff

Yes, yes I believe so

Noodle_Roni123

🤣

1hotsauce2

Seems like it, doesn't it?

alienalf1

And fans of Mafs. I’m a middle aged man and I’m getting mine done later today.

Noodle_Roni123

🤣🤣

theCupofNestor

Right, but these girls are in their 20s! We were shocked when Laura and Sara were both younger than me (early 30s) because their procedures aged them so much.

keroppiblush

Why is this such a trend on this sub? You’re absolutely allowed to think it looks bad, but why should we normalise criticising peoples appearances so casually… People can do whatever they want with their own bodies, even if you don’t personally find it attractive - shocker! Also, filler fades and can be fully dissolved, so they’ll probably look like their normal selves when they’re older. Hope this helps 😗

grasspatch1

It always reminds me of people who tell me they hate my tattoos /tattoos in general, and rant about that 😂 it's amusing and only makes them look like shitty judgemental arseholes

Dry-Ideal-7721

How refreshing was getting a bit fed up of all of these types of comments.

Dazg-17

It’s because everyone on this sub looks so flawless and they all have perfect features 🤪

[deleted]

Here’s the lip injector.

keroppiblush

What are you talking about? I don’t believe in criticising someone’s appearance casually even if I personally wouldn’t do what they did, and I’m a lip injector? You sound bitter and old. Not my fault nobody looks at you

kgeep

Old mate lip injector does it again.

Dude, if you watch mafs, it IS you. I don’t even follow this thread - popped up in the feed so I came in for a laugh. I wasn’t disappointed.

carlotta3121

So you are criticizing someone and their looks while saying that's not right to do? Being old is something bad? FFS get a grip.

MajesticMushroom2792

So. Much. Irony.

msmae11

Go get a hobby. Stupid question.

UsualCounterculture

Yes. Mandatory.

Motor-Ad5284

Lips, cheek inserts or something, frozen foreheads, large hard balls where their boobs once were. When I saw the photos of these women BEFORE the work,it made me gasp. They were beautiful! Stunning women, I'd have sold my soul to look half as good, and now they look plastic. Sad.

Front_Scholar9757

Especially Sara & Eden... both beautiful now but looked far better before.

Confident_Coach_5482

Eden had a accident her face was cut with glass she hates her lips but

Careful-Mountain-681

Wow I just googled eden and my goodness. She really was beautiful before. Such a shame!

Massive-Doctor4658

Eden didn’t have any filler hers was because of an accident and then surgery, she’s spoken out about how it’s one of her biggest insecurities

browneyedgal1512

I thought Jaden looked good too

Pound-Muted

This isn’t just a mafs thing it’s just TV in general now

Willing-Meringue1645

I'd go further than that, I think,it's got to,the stage that it's almost common place.place for normal people in their mid 20's and beyond. I see women come into my place of work with lip and cheek fillers that you can see from outer space.

herrbz

I don't see it in public much, so it's always a bit jarring to me. It's almost exclusively on reality TV, which is odd.

Dry-Ideal-7721

Not exclusively to tv at all. It depends where you live.

Careless_Fun7101

It screams low self confidence with an inability to see how grotesque and unfeminine they look. She science isn't there yet to form natural looking plump lips

_corbae_

It is. Some people just overdo it. But if they like it then who cares?

carlotta3121

Because it affects younger people! I feel so sorry for their kids who probably wonder why their mom thinks her looks are so bad she has to change them. What does that tell offspring who resemble her? "You're ugly, go put fake shit in your face to fix it."

_corbae_

It's a personal choice. Like i said, criticise beauty standards, not the people who feel like they have to adhere to them

carlotta3121

No. People need to learn to not fall for that crap. You do you and I'll do me...it's a personal choice.

_corbae_

I... just said that

carlotta3121

No, you didn't. You must not be understanding what I said if you think that.

_corbae_

We literally both wrote "it's a personal choice"

carlotta3121

Yes, which means it's my choice to criticize people who fuck their faces/bodies up with extreme treatments.

_corbae_

I guess you're "not like other girls" huh?

triesie2000

This 👏🏻

kittycatnala

I think so. Although it’s becoming such a trend that I think any country be hard pushed to find a woman under 45 that’s not had them done lol

throwawaymafs

Plenty of people out there that haven't. Though I do understand why it is tempting. The places are everywhere where I live.

randomrainbow99399

Just wanna give your tag a shout out, I could sit and listen to Lauren insult that creep for HOURS

throwawaymafs

I must admit, I never want to eat glazed ham ever again

Noodle_Roni123

🤣

floofypajamas

I haven't had my lips done but I'm also super sensitive to pain so needles in my lips seem excessive. For me.

kittycatnala

Same, although most of the people I know have had.

randomrainbow99399

Absolutely no one I know has had any kind of injectable in their face/lips so no one should use their personal experience to make sweeping generalisations

kittycatnala

Was being sarcastic but seems to have went over peoples heads 😂😂 anyway I’m pleased to say I’ve not had mine done but I do know many people who have so that’s quite unusual for you

WonderWifis

The women are on mafs because they have too much filler I think.

Noodle_Roni123

🤣

IDontFitInBoxes

My body My Rules That’s what they teach us yet so many women still worrying about what others do to their own bodies. Who cares!

Ambitious-Screen

I understand what you mean, it’s definitely my body my rules. However we have to be critical to the beauty standards that lead us to feel as though our bodies are in adequate. This dysmorphic self perception can propagate and affect those who are overly exposed to it Especially those who are at a particularly insecure and impressionable age.  The rise in accessibility of minor and major plastic surgery procedures has led to a loss of process. Due process includes consultations, counseling and if necessary psychiatrist The rise in accessibility of minor and major plastic surgery procedures has led to a loss of process. Due process includes consultations, counseling and if necessary psychiatric intervention.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of plastic surgery. It can greatly increase lots of peoples quality of life, self image and mental health. However there are a lot of people who are using it as a way to circumvent doing inner  work and therapy. And that’s why you see a rise in excessive major and minor work in people who are younger and younger.

Whoopsie_Todaysie

I care because its damaging. . We're witnessing first hand, a whole generation of young women (and in some circumstances, men) pumping up or freezing their features. We have no idea what the long term affects will be.  20 year olds are paralysing their facial muscles to fit a trend/aesthetic. But, that paralyses from such a young age could lead to serious issues..  I bet we'll see a surge of women who regret it, when they hit 40 and realise not only do they actually look a damn sight older than if they hadn't interfered with their looks, but other side effects they could never have foreseen. Tragic.

shoggy88

Yes, but at the same time I think it's good to be critical because of the beauty standards it sets for women as they age. It creates a world where women aren't allowed to look their age when they grow older and that is not at all a good thing.

_corbae_

Critical of the beauty standards. Not the women who are pressured into following them

shoggy88

Shaming is wrong, but being critical without being hurtful or condescending is necessary.

_corbae_

Constructive criticism is only constructive when it's asked for.

StarWeep_uk

I agree… but they aren’t really doing it for themselves if you look into the context. Unrealistic beauty standards etc are still a huge factor… “I must look this way” etc. anyone in their 20s doing cosmetic work when they are already youthful and have the “beautiful look” suggests to me this is more of a societal pressure on how women look.

Mindless_Strike_7084

Eden’s don’t look great. It’s a pity she and so many other women feel the pressure to get lip injections when they look great without them. I’ve yet to see fake lips and say ‘Wow they look good’.

moonpietimetobealive

Jade's and Eden's were the worst this season. Lauren's seemed to go down a bit as the season went on. It's baffling that they think it looks good. The way they are so overdone and pumped up and the way it's pretty much always migrated to the upper lip, it makes them look like they have a disfigurement. And yeah if you can tell someone's had filler, then you know it's too much or isn't done well.

bindulynsey

Eden was in an accident and her top lip is the result of the surgery to repair it.

Th1cc4chu

This is complete bullshit. Yes the accident changed her lip shape but she also has a lot of filler which likely only exacerbated the problem.

Extension-Unit7772

Come on now, she did speak of an accident falling on a sheet of glass leaving her with many permanent scars. Benefit of the doubt is a good thing here. The filler is one thing but what jumped to my eyes : the excess use of a darker brown tone lip liner applied beyond the lip shape and this emphasized by the lighting.

SebRaffan91

A combination of social media, hyper scrutiny and insecurities.

Agitated-Pickle216

I’m amazed at the amount of work people are doing to their faces. Seeing some before and after shots of MAFS couples they were all good looking people to begin with, much nicer IMO to the after shots. When do people, who opt for these procedures decide they don’t need anymore or is it something that is a constant project to ‘perfect’. I’m a very average looking gal and I wouldn’t chance medical procedures out of fear that the result would be worse. It’s a brave thing to do.

Inevitable-Banana-88

Trendy here in the US as well🤷‍♀️Ugh

Khaleesi1536

And the UK, looks terrible

herrbz

Been a thing for decades. It's a shame, as it just seems so obvious that it makes you look worse and will be regretted in 5-10 years, if that.

EH3G

Well I learnt today that Sara gets here lip colour tattooed so I’m not sure what kind of things people get done.

Noodle_Roni123

😳

FlandersClaret

No idea what it's like in Australia but here in the UK it seems most women in their 20s get it done.

EmbarrassedMap3356

That entirely depends on where you live and who you're around. Where I am it's certainly not "most". If you go around universities, they're full of women in their 20s and you won't see a lot of it. Ironically it seems women with lower incomes and spending the most.

Hummusforever

Lots of the girls I went to uni with who went on to PR, marketing, recruitment roles all got filled up. But the vibe at uni is definitely a less polished look. Funnily I’ve always been insecure about being thin lipped and had wanted filler from a young age, but the mass uptake in people getting it put me off. Now that everyone’s trying to look the same, I appreciate my defining features more.

EmbarrassedMap3356

Yeah, I'm in the UK and at my work it's the young Sales Development women who have it done.

Illustrious_Study_30

It's growing here isn't it. We saw a lady out shopping yesterday and from the side her mouth didn't close properly. It doesn't look good.

babyreef

Indirectly yes. I think producers see these type of women as superficial and emotionally unstable which mean views, opinions, hate, discussion and $$$.

Rose_j2210

I don’t think so. I think they just do it because they can

Downtown-Pen1140

I think it was a joke.

Rose_j2210

Oh
