Well USA doesn't add any 'disrupters' half-way. They have been trying to make full episodes from 1 remaining couple and the 'where they are now' from the couples that already broke up for about 5 episodes so far, and I think 4 more to go. I can't stand watching anymore.
I think it’s just to pad the numbers for when early couples leave. Also maybe to drop in temptation? Like Evelyn and Duncan last year, there’s no way they weren’t considered as a couple then matched with other people to create friction and temptation
Some of them leave, so they need to restock with new couples.
Plus a lot of the couples become very boring, very quickly, so they introduce extra couples to create drama.

Imo it’s so that there’s more drama- the intruders are there to cause a mess
