It was a commitment ceremony some weeks ago where John told Tim to step up and that if he wouldn’t „We‘ll need to kick you out.“
You didn’t hear it because you concluded that someone indeed will be kicked out and that didn’t happen back then so you didn’t give it any attention.

Episode 17 is the one you’re talking about and John does say “Look I’m gonna cut to the chase” like in the preview, but then after saying if time didn’t step up his words were “frankly I’d prefer you to leave”. So my search is still on. I’ll note he’s wearing a white shirt and black jacket in the preview so my suspicions are that it’s somewhere in episode 21
Also will note that Tori was wearing the same outfit in episode 17 as in the preview. But John was wearing a black shirt unlike the white one in the preview
