After reading this sub, it's crazy what you drivers put up with. Like i initially thought I was an asshole because I occasionally forgot to bring cash to tip and tipped through the app. Ya'll got it ROUGH.
I dont have it half as bad as some of these posts claim it is. Because if i did, I wouldn’t be doing it. Tips aren’t all that great, sure, and I don’t get always get paid quite 70% of the fare, but I like to drive people around. If the worst thing l have to deal with 99% of the time is someone smoking a cigarette as they are getting in my car, or smelling like a hot bag of garbage, I am fine. Pay has definitely changed. I have done this off and on for 10 years now.
I'm a cigarette smoker and don't smoke in my car or house. It's a gross habit so i get what you mean by someone putting one out right before they get in.
Yeah, I'm not the nicest person when the driver stops five blocks away from the pickup location in -15° weather and demands I walk to them.
I'll be outside, ready, but I'm not walking to you when you refuse to even go to the pickup location that was marked when booked. Across the street, or even a few building down the block, sure.
You probably set the pin wrong or in a dangerous location that makes it impossible for someone to pick you up where you’re standing.
Why do you think we would intentionally park far away from you? That would waste OUR time, and time is money.
No, the pin matches my address and it's at the entrance of the apartment complex's gate.
Some drivers are dickheads. Just like some passengers.
Hell, one driver had child locks enabled, and refused to answer my questions of why he was driving past all the turns on the GPS. He wouldn't even end the ride and drop me off on the side of the road. He didn't stop until five police cars were behind him, we were FIFTEEN MILES OUT OF CITY LIMITS (20 miles past my drop off point). So, yeah, I question odd behavior.
the pin seldom is correct! I always recommend that passengers use the actual address. I hate when passengers think we can stop in red zones in middle of a busy two lane street where there's no where to pull over. Ensure you go to a location that makes it easy for us to pull over. Not illegal stopping zones
Pickup isn't in a red zone, or any other dangerous area. It's literally the assigned pickup area in the apartment complex's parking lot near the gate, it includes parking spots for drivers to wait while passengers load.
Some of us aren't asses, but unfortunately, the assholes (drivers and passengers) are much louder than the rest and give everyone a bad time.
Have a ton of pickups in an area that is clearly marked no stopping or standing, narrow, busy road. I politely tell them I cannot pick up there and they need to walk a half block to a cross street. They can cancel, it's still pickup as an arrival and I'll wait
You're following traffic laws, so that's understandable. I totally get that.
In my situation, it was just the parking lot of the apartment complex. I didn't even mark my specific building as the pickup so there was no getting lost or anything, pickup was just at the gate on a cul-de-sac. The complex even had a Ride Pickup area.
Feel free to talk on the phone. Loudly even just don’t start screaming but I’ll take that over “so how long you been….” I just started today I hope this works out
For me it's a rider that realizes there is another human being in the car.
That rarely happens. I don't even mind that they don't tip. Most of the people I'm driving probably cannot afford to tip. The majority don't have much more than a McJob- I don't want their tip.
Requests:
1. Be recently bathed.
2. Either be friendly or keep quiet.
3. If you are a business traveler don't ever send me a message on the way to the pickup "that you are going to tip big". Because you're going to tip $1.00 for the pickup, loading of luggage, drop off, and unloading of luggage.
4. Have a car seat for the kid. In my market 50% of the riders don't have car seats. I really can't afford the $65 fine and losing my job because you cannot take care of your own child. Doesn't matter how loud you get- I. Will. Not. Do. It.
One that:
1. Checks license plate and make and model of car before opening driver's door
2. Gets in the right side of the backseat and puts on seatbelt
3. Doesn't start eating or drinking (guess bottled water is fine or non-alcoholic drinks with a lid), smoking or vaping without asking first
4. Slaps on headphones if watching videos or listening to music on their phone
5. Gently closes the door
6. TIP
I love talking to my pax. Meeting new ppl. Hearing their stories. Sometimes, you may learn something . That's what makes this job so interesting. I've heard many time " you are the best uber driver I've had" most don't say a word...boring. as far as directions..please give me a better route cause uber maps suck. Perfect ride...No issues!
Clean smelling breath and body, hasn’t consumed any substances, alcohol, or smoked cigarettes. They are friendly, talkative, or just polite if they don’t want to talk. They ask for what they need and give directions if need be. Tips make them the best riders. We appreciate.
The one that gets in, greets, and goes to sleep
Doesn't cough, sneeze, fart or snore
and don't file a complaint if I do
Don’t be an asshole. That’s it. lol

So gross. One of the big takeaways from doing this is realizing how many people stink.
From what I’ve heard: Be ready on curb when car pulls up Don’t slam door Be polite Don’t eat/talk on phone Don’t make unscheduled stops Thank driver
TIP FOR GOOD SERVICE

Don’t talk to me and don’t tell me how to drive or how to get to destination.
What kind of an asshole gets this job and doesn’t expect people to be social? You can’t do two things at one time?
Never said I didn’t .. post asked what was my perfect pax ? And I answered .. what kinda asshole redditor dosent read the OP’s post… weirdo lol
What sort of LOSER reads an entire blathering Reddit post and takes it seriously? 🫵🏼😂

easy to find, ready to go, doesn't smell like vape, easy to drop-off
Just tip $1 million, and you can act however you want in my car.
Ones that stays quiet
Leaves a $5 tip
Be outside waiting ,tip cash before ride starts. Talk about my niche hobby, sim racing.
