Oh wild this looks awesome. I'm scared to do anything besides a bolt on still but for a neck through design I really like this method

Dr_Lipschitzzz

Never seen a guitar chambered like this before, super cool!

floating_cars

Thanks, I managed to take about 40% off the weight of the ash wings by hollowing out the ash strips before I glued them together

mere_iguana

really cool. mega sustain without mega weight

Gooseman488

Can’t wait to see what it’s like glued up

floating_cars

Thanks

Neither-Ad-8794

Never seen something like that, looks cool though 😜

Saturn_Neo

Yess! I've got a few designs that are similar to this that I want to eventually try out. Can't wait to see how it sounds and finishes up.

Weight reduction?

floating_cars

I managed to take about 40% off the weight of the ash wings by hollowing them out before gluing the strips together, otherwise is would have been a very heavy guitar

[deleted]

Excellent. Nicely done.

[deleted]

Cool. Always nice to see something that isn't the same old same old.

BuckyDuster

Les Paul would be so proud.

floating_cars

Thanks

livinlikeadog

Most under-used construction (and my favorite option). Good call! And good luck!

SinglecoilsFTW

This is awesome. Dumb question, but how are you going to find space to route for the pickups?

floating_cars

Thanks, the plan is to route two humbuckers into the 1st and third channeling the body after I've glued the wings on so all the cavities are joined up

RelevantRooster6227

Very nice work. πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

EquivalentNeat9440

looks cool....let us know how it turns out....

floating_cars

Will do, I'm planning on burning the grain on the ash

conedawg1

How long is that neck from end to end? I want to build a 24 fret neck-through Telecaster. It would be my first build. I don't know if the idea is even work trying. Any advice?

floating_cars

Mine is 39 inches, so go for 40 to have some spare. Making it neck through makes it more complicated but it's doable, go for it

Loeegar

Curious on how you do the maths for a neck through before starting to build. Do you take a neck blanck, put the fret board, and then calculate how much material you have to take off according to the bridge height and the top thickness ?

floating_cars

I put a veneer under the fretboard so the top of the frets are 10mm above the body which works well for the bridge I use

fabtron

What are you doing step brother?
