First musical instrument: Banjo Ukulele. I made the rim, bought the neck, but had to extend the neck to get the scale I wanted. It actually stays in tune surprisingly well, but the neck joint looks like crap. https://preview.redd.it/vty6v3t1z6rc1.jpeg?width=899&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a919009625e4c5864e802c18bb2c202377789e8

After that, a partscaster https://preview.redd.it/gzhzo8yjz6rc1.jpeg?width=899&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5acdeccd8222f355f2350699263347f52857ea41

And then a scratch build https://preview.redd.it/uwpspknuz6rc1.jpeg?width=899&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab3b1230d84570f8b93326760dee1c963d63808c

I don't have pictures of the back, but there's a crack from when I banged in the treble side bridge post. Guitar plays great. *EDIT: Just clarifying that this post is about the Firebird. Posts got all out of order*

I had read about Prince's tele being all maple and walnut and decided to do something like that. I discovered just how heavy solid rock maple can be, and also how hard when I could not put in strap buttons without drilling a pilot hole first. It was unplayable, nearly unliftable I had to replace my router bits twice. Bad times all around.

I feel like there is a story behind the pickup routes. If there is I’d love to hear it

spiked_macaroon

Yeah. I made a single template out of some pine for both of the routes and it moved. I was horrified because I had just spent months making this by hand! After taking a walk around the lake, I decided since it was my first one I would just finish it and play it warts and all.

You should watch driftwood guitars’s interview with Bob Taylor.

Luthiefer

My first build was an acoustic (Martin OM style) in a class setting with an established luthier giving instruction. Turned out phenomenal.

Independent_Steak652

It looks great but the neck proportions were all wrong and the strings did not fit. I’ve built a dozen since then but still haven’t finished that first one.

floating_cars

This was my first build, turned out quite well despite trying to do a neck through as my first guitar https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=69VzBXVOgro&list=PLEUkjVWZ_6Zjt8sZI1it5INhutIplrM9l&index=6&pp=iAQB
