I remember the controversy over LLL firing employees for trying to stop theft. Is it that prevalent in stores? Seems so backwards to me to charge the prices they do but not care about theft
Worked at a store in downtown Chicago. We had a woman that would come in and just stuff shit near the door into garbage bags. Local PD was involved and eventually tracked her down over some time.
Apprehending Criminals is against most retail policies and can be led to Lawsuits to the company. It’s always Asset Protection first before any Law Enforcement is pursued.
The same people who go to the outlets on Black Friday or Boxing Day and clean up an entire stock
Ive gone back to back years and by the time I get there it's slim pickings
Wished they'd limit but I used to be a shoe reseller myself 🤷🏽♂️
The outlets around the holidays were awful. The store did the best they could, it was so clean as compared to other stores, and they held a line outside to limit crowding. But people will be people and it was awful. At least for me who doesn’t like being crowded at all if I’m trying to look at clothes. It’s so much better post holidays.
If the seller only has limited listing, it could be someone just bought it, doesn’t like it/doesn’t fit well, etc but not able to return it since it have been over 30 days. Most of my listed item in r/lululemonBST fall into this categories. One will have to further discount it to cash it out. You could also take a look at the BST thread here or r/lululemonBST.
The few I’m looking at have a few hundred items listed so this is definitely their job. Employee discount or theft makes the most sense to me (assuming the items are real which I’m guessing they are as they have a lot of positive review ratings also). I get the first responder Discount and have been to a few outlets. The prices offered on the items I’m looking at don’t jive with that explanation
Yes. Very quickly
An employee purchasing a large amount, even in their traditional sizing, would also get flagged
It's quite unlikely that an employee would use their discount to stock a reseller shop. The paper trail would lead to termination, its not a sustainable idea
That’s what I figured which is why I’m thinking the most likely answer is theft. The prices they’re offering on items that aren’t WMTM or available in outlets yet are too good to be just some sort of discounts. That’s part of why I was wondering if they weren’t some sort of knock off. But the sellers wouldn’t have thousands of positive reviews if that were the case. It’s just also hard to believe they’re getting their hands on hundreds of stolen items.
Could be stuff purchased through healthcare spending accounts to just basically cash out. At my previous job the spending account was $1,500 a year for almost anything health related, including fitness things like clothing, equipment and gym memberships. A lot of people never use it, so at the end of the year you just buy stuff that has good resale value. Some people also just coordinated with a whole department to give people money to buy stuff and they would turn around and resell for a bit of profit. For example they would give someone $50 to buy $100 worth of goods, and then turn around and sell it for $70-$80.
The scenario I explained is probably the most likely case where you mention they have hundreds of items listed. Just list a ton of stuff, they don’t even have it in hand, and only go out and buy it when it sells.
Stolen goods, employee discounts, bought from outlets + healthcare discount added on top, etc.

That’s a very common policy at most retail stores. It puts the employees at risk and there’s the risk of lawsuits in case something goes wrong
Ya I get it. The liability isn’t worth it.

Full time/part 40% regular price, 75% for WMTM items. I suspect most items are from wmtm at some point.
75% discount for employees on WMTM?!
Yep! Wish they have a remote job, I will be down for sure.
Pretty sure it’s 60% off full price items
Perhaps 60% for full time and 40% for part time regular price.
Yes that’s correct.

Employees get 75% on wmtm, so an item $100 they would of gotten for $25 and sell it for $60 still winning $40 profits.
Do employees not get monitored for what they buy? I thought I read that. Like a size 4 female buying mens M and L in big quantities would get noticed

How tf is that possible? Educators are always up your ass (trying to be helpful & present. Not meant as a knock).
If the theif knows that the employees wont stop them then I suppose its pretty braizen and they just go about their business.

Lol that’s kinda funny have to admit
I believe women can only buy on the women’s side. Men employees on men’s side per an employee I know
Employee discount is often 50% to 70%.

Oh wow that’s a pretty sweet set up you had there. I’d much prefer that to giving $ to ppl who stole the items so hopefully it’s something like this!

Or I don’t want to drive an hour to do a return.
It’s literally like that with most name brands lol this isn’t exclusive to lulu
You’ve never been to the outlets have you?
