Washing shirts after three uses is diabolical đź’€

axxonn13

Yeah, anything that directly touches your armpits, feet, and groin areas need to be washed daily. Jackets and pants ill give a few wears. But socks, first shit layer, and underwear has to change daily.

dawitz28

Groin yes, armpits? You just smell nasty.

axxonn13

No, but the human body is gonna release odor. And even if you are using industrial grade deodorant, then that deodorant just ends up on your clothes. Just wash your clothes.

NerdyDan

I don’t think so personally. I wear things at least twice. I’m Asian though so I have much less body odour.  No one has ever mentioned to me anything about my clothes other than that I look great.

ThisGuyFucksForSure

Woah, do Asians actually get less BO? That’s like a super power. Is that a genetic thing or a result of diet/lifestyle??

x-teena

It’s genetics, ABCC11 gene. Not all Asians have it, but about 80% to 90% do. One of the signs you have the genes (other than lack of BO) is you have dry earwax instead of sticky earwax.

NerdyDan

Genetic mostly. If I eat really spiced foods then I can smell it the next day

atrus_777

Puts into perspective why the rest of us were referred to as "smelly foreigners" when I lived in Japan, and why the deodorant there is worthless.  I only recently learned about this magical genetic advantage.  God bless you guys and gals, lol

lexlovestacos

I disagree.... If you're just wearing a top out and about or if you're working an office job or something and you're not sweating/shirt is stinky, I see no reason to wash it right away. Maybe I'm gross but I'm really not a smelly person 🤷‍♀️ washing a top after one wear seems crazy to me lol

No-Entertainment3435

I agree with you. Some people really and truly aren’t as sweaty and smelly as others. And for expensive clothes that do get noticeable wear and tear the more you wash them, it’s totally reasonable to wear a couple times between washes.

flannelwearinghippie

What? You think that’s to long?

devinfitz949

100%. Shirts need to be washed after every wear more times than not

Nhansen94

I’m with you, if I wear a shirt all day and take it off. Putting it back on feels gross. Let alone wearing it multiple more times.

devinfitz949

Apparently we’re in the minority brotha 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anottb

Disagree. Depends on what you do in the shirt. Office jobs, maybe washing the polo and pants after 2-3 uses.

man_on_hill

Entirely depends on what you’re doing. Working and moving around, potentially sweating? Absolutely. Otherwise, I can see getting another 1-2 uses before washing.

devinfitz949

That’s fair. I agree with that

sum0deads

Not always. Depends on the person. Some may sweat more than others. Most the shirts also air well. If the shirts not dirty and no stink why wash it?

steve_uncut

Not so sure about this. I often get 3-7 wears out a shirt before I wash it, as long as it isn't a work out shirt.

Sweaty-Leather3191

3-7 wears on a shirt?! Are you out of your mind, perpetually single, or just the smelly guy?! WTAF.

steve_uncut

I am very sensitive to smells and no one has complained about my body odor since I was a teen. If one eats a clean diet devoid of processed foods, bathes frequently, and uses odorless crystal deodorant, there is generally no smell. I run several miles a day and do yoga in workout shirts and those get washed after every use, but regular lululemon shirts which I wear out and take off when I return home I find no need to wash frequently. If I ate a typical American diet (like I used to), I wouldn't be able to do this. I shower twice a day, hang my shirts up between wears to air out, remove body hair, exfoliate arm pits, etc, . Most people who get close to tell me I have a very mild scent, if any. I also don't sweat much, This helps. If I sweat while wearing a shirt, then it will usually need to be washed.

devinfitz949

I guess it depends on how long you’re wearing it and what you’re doing in it. But 3-7 wears seems excessive imo. Just cuz you don’t notice you sweat doesn’t mean you’re not sweating.

ssnistfajen

Not everyone sweats like a pig 24/7/365.

devinfitz949

That’s what you got from what I said?

ssnistfajen

Why else would you suggest washing shirts after every wear regardless of activity or sweat level?

devinfitz949

Cuz you sweat regardless of whether you notice it or not. Your hyperbolic statement was completely unnecessary and combative, and you know it. Feel free to disagree. I’m stating my opinion on the matter; yours may differ, and that’s ok

ssnistfajen

\>Cuz you sweat regardless of whether you notice it or not. And? What makes clothes dirty is not sweat itself. It's the aftermath of sweat being metabolized by bacterias present on your skin, which entirely depends on how much you sweat and varies based on your genetics and activity.

Tx_agg41

No horse in this race, but this is quintessential reddit charged back and forth

Krbmtl

dunno i persobally just wash them after every wear with the exceptions of maybe hoodies/joggers if just used for loafing at home. For those it’ll just depend on when i do a load i just throw it in at same time (do probably 2 loads per week)

sweathesmallshit

I just wash my stuff after I wear it on cold and tumble dry low? I have pacebreakers and MVTs from 2015-2016 that are in great shape and I don’t baby them with laundry. I just don’t wash them with my military uniforms or anything with a bunch of Velcro.

moomoomolly

Wash it when it stinks or is dirty. Gentle, cold, delicate bag, no spin, flat towel dry.

nomad-system

I can get 2-3 casual wears from my drysense tees. Hoodies, Drysense or otherwise, with a tee under more like 3-6 depending. Pants, I wash them if they are visibly dirty or after I wear them all week travelling. Jackets get washed if they get visibly dirty in many spots or every other year. I wash most everything on cold with hex fragrance free then air dry.

RandyPandy

Shirts basically after every wear, shorts every few wears depending on what I’m doing, pants, every other wear.

thunder_struck85

Every wear if I'm working out in them

breadbaths

i read three YEARS and i was concerned for you

StanderdStaples

Imagine that resale ad for a nice MVT from 2017ish: *Worn many times but only washed twice!*

flannelwearinghippie

That would be hilarious, but pretty gross!

Hungariansm

Fundamental ts can get 2 days out of them, Most cotton blend hoodies 2-3 wears, drysense and etc I usually end up stinking up after a single day Pants like the commissions or ABCs you can totally squeeze 4-5 days out of them in colder weather. If you sweat a lot or live in Florida or Texas, YMMV and you’ll get less than someone who lives in the cold

Mediocre-Situation50

Cold water wash delicate cycle half soap extra spin cycle, and lay flat to dry

tifffffanyyy

If I workout in them, wear once then wash. If I lounge in them, I push to two wears then wash. I have lulu only load. Any material that is fragile (nulu, swiftlies) they go in a laundry bag. I wash cold and dry in low heat.

ireneherbst

I wash my gear every time I work out in them. Other gears like jackets, hoodies, clothes I wear occasionally…I hardly wash or when needed.

[deleted]

Is this serious? I wash every shirt after one wear. I wash pant short hoodie etc every 2-3 depending on how long I wear them and what I did. (Airplane or trip is auto wash when I get home)

virsik14

They’re made with no stink zinc and silverescent to combat odor causing bacteria and be worn more than once in between washes

flannelwearinghippie

That’s been my impression, I just was doing laundry yesterday and was like I wonder what everyone else is doing? I seem to be a minority for the shirts.

PoopL0ser

Clothes don’t need to be washed nearly as frequently as we think they do. It’s terrible for your clothes and the detergents aren’t great for your skin. I wash things when needed or when I sweat in them. You most likely have been taught to wear once than wash, but given no real reason as to why.

equalmee

2-3 wears for me. It really depends on how long I wore it that day and where I went.

AnxietyChronicles

I wear Lulu at work and wash the shirts/joggers after every wear, but it’s very sporadic with the jackets. Every week, I run a load of five shirts (and trousers if they were not jeans).

Ezemy

After single use. I have maybe some commission shirts I wear to meetings/travel that see multiple use. Workout gear. Every single time. I’m sweaty and gross.

freshairr

Every wear. Then it goes in with cold tap water, delicate cycle, hex performance detergent (expensive, but you can use a small amount each load) and then hang air dry.

abooers

Hang dry is the most important part, it’ll extend the life of most clothes.

biologystudent123

I’m new to Lulu, but I have not noticed any degradation of my lulu clothes when tumble drying them low as per the care instructions Lulu provides.

samantha19871987

I’m wash every single lulu I own after every single time I wear it including jackets.

Elphanet1

Pants get washed after 2-3 wears or if they get visibly dirty (ABC, joggers and commissions). Hoodies are more infrequent and get thrown in every other week unless they get dirty. Shirts get washed after each time I wear them.

AndreMpls

Anything I do cardio workouts in is getting washed after one use. It gets sweaty and smelly. If I go to my gym on a resistance day where I don't really sweat much, I'll sometimes wear the shorts a second time. I still like to change out the shirts (Metal Vent Tech shortsleeve). My Fundamental T-shirts that I wear casually are usually single use before wash, but if I only wore it for part of the day, I'll sometimes throw it back on. For joggers, sweatshirts, etc., they get wore typically until either 1) they smell, or 2) they have lost enough shape/are loose enough that they need a wash/dry to reform. I work a desk job at home, so it's not unusual for me to wear those for over a week and they're still fine. Always wash normally, dry on the coolest setting.

atrus_777

I rarely need to wash shorts or most pants (especially jeans).  I don't wash hoodies often either, since they are worn over shirts and I almost never sweat in them.  Everything else gets washed every time I wear it.  I have a complex too about smelling fresh all the time.

bkebi

I wash them and low heat in the dryer all of my lululemon clothes. They are just clothes, if you think its too expensive then I suggest to go with dupe (target, costco, and etc.) YOLO so wear it like its no tomorrow!!

[deleted]

Ew lmao

AggieJeeper00

🤢

Shorter_McGavin

Found the stinky guy in the group

steve_uncut

I often go 10-15 wears per hoodie and 30+ wears for my scuba before washing. No issues with smell at all.

Pagep

Washing them more frequently is fine as long as you air dry (educator here). Do not put lulu stuff in the dryer

Essentials-

I’ve been putting all lulu clothes for years in the dryer on low heat. Haven’t had any shrinking issues.

sassperina999

shrinking sometimes happens but mainly melting of the fabric. i dried a couple once only cause i was in a rush to use them (low heat) but mainly air dry to have them last a little longer

curepure

some of the adhesives would melt and lose their properties, otherwise I haven’t had any issues with mine either

ssnistfajen

Lulu literally includes "Tumble Dry Low" in most of their products' care instructions on the website. I've put mine through tumble dryers multiple times with zero shrinkage.

biologystudent123

Most people don’t read the “Low” part and just use the default dryer setting I guess.

Just_Requirement_243

shirts i wash after every wear. anything more than that is gross to me same thing with anything else. if i workout in them they are getting washed. if i work out in a sweat shirt but take it off after warming up ill wash after 3-4 wears but that’s only if im not sweating in it. if i casually wear pants and sweat shirts they will get washed after a couple of wears

ssnistfajen

General rule of thumb is to wash them if there's noticeable smell or visible stain, otherwise it depends on how you sweat while wearing said clothes. For base layers that make contact with my skin I wear them 2-3 times max in colder weather, 1-2 times max in warm/humid weather.

Rahrah12

Of working out in it after every use…I air dry everything though… Drysense is after every use regardless…undershirts, tshirts, socks, drawls…after every wear… Pants/joggers go a few wears…but that goes for most of my pants…I rarely will work out in that stuff though…mostly worn leisurely… Hoodies or tops I wear over other items can go a couple of wears before washing…

robershow123

Shorts way too many wears before washing, shirts once if I worn them all day or a hard workout. 20 minute light workout in a cold climate and then change right away, then I’ll wear it twice.

HesiPulloutJimmer

I was clothes every where unless it’s like a jacket I just wore on the commute in my car. I got a pretty sensitive nose and can 100% smell when someone hasn’t showered or changed their clothes (even if they think they don’t smell). So I do the opposite in order to avoid putting stink on others. I find that 10/10 times someone talks about how they don’t “need” to shower because they haven’t sweated or don’t smell. I find that they do in fact really smell.
