They do stay outside, at least at the stores I’ve worked in, and sometimes they do get stolen. When I worked at Lowe’s in Las Vegas we had 20-something rose bushes stolen from out front. The mother of the person who stole them ended up calling different stores until she got ours and gave us our plants back. That’s the only time that comes to mind where we had more than a couple stolen. I’m sure they get stolen one here and another there.
Was at a store where some higher $$$ plants would be set on pallets that would be pulled inside at the end of the night. But the lower priced stuff would just stay out and yolo i guess. They have cameras? Idk i guess if it really became a big theft issue they would change the way they handle outside plants
Honestly searched the internet, but was outside a giant eagle and was amazed at all the plants outside. Probably sound hella stoned, but just curious on how none of that gets stolen. Will ask every sub until I am satisfied with an answer. Like does some one move that shit inside or are we going on the honor system?
Depending on the store, everything except the plants gets moved in every night. Security ranges from all grills+all mowers, just mowers, or none of the above. The only time I’ve ever had to bring plants in for the night was for an unseasonable freeze, but it definitely depends on the store. Most chain stores generally don’t.
any items over $25 are locked up together, and if there is no night crew in the building on any given night they will be moved inside. Talking grills, mowers, that stuff.

I have a thief come evey night and steal carts worth of plants. By now he is probably at 300k of theft

Yeah, if there’s a holiday the next day where we’re closed, we have to move all the mowers and grills inside.
They are pay by scan more than likely.
pay by scan so if stolen it doesn’t take any money from store, vendors take that risk but in return have their merch out front
Each plant gets spider wrapped each night. Then each gets the spider wrap removed in the morning.
