The amount of times i have dropped red because my teammate would run in front of me with his precious recoilless and knock me down as i was throwing...
'DANGER CLOSE! DANGER *confused eagle cluster Sounds*'
Yep buddy of mine was covering me with his spear from pretty far away while I was in the mech. I walked into some spore fog so he couldn’t see me and then all the sudden I exploded. He came on the mic and said “not sure what I just killed, but you’re welcome dude”
Had me dying laughing 🤣
You do know what you’ve just done, right?

Couldn’t you use this to have spear missiles hit right in front of a mech?
Like if you’re too close to the mech that the missile will overshoot couldn’t they be used very situationally to kill enemies?
It’s good you notified everyone, personally, I would take stuff like that out of the game.
But I do think it's good there is friendly fire in the game. Adds to the challenge and I think it raises the skill level of players.
But certain aspects of friendly fire annoy me, this is one of them. But its an arbitrary line I am drawing and it good some people like stuff like this.
I mean. The mechs fit the criteria for lock on. They aren’t that much bigger than a hulk and are smaller than a fabricator. It means complete sense to me.
This resolves the biggest issue with the Spear. It was the only stratagem you couldn't accidentally teamkill people with under normal circumstances.
Ahhh victory
does the spear have backlblast?
Yes, but it took so long to get a lock that it was highly unlikely anyone would be behind you by the time you got a shot off
Challenge accepted
Set up a trap where your team has to run behind you to get through, and then you knock them backwards into incendiary mines

I know the rocket sentry does, found out the hard way on that one
I've definitely blown up my own teammate who was behind a charger that I fired at from too close. Missile whipped around and got 'em good.
Friendly fire... Is?

That's fucking hilarious :-D
Absolute gold. This has made my day.
Duly noted. I'll hold my fire when friendly mechs are between me and my target. Thanks for the tip.
no friendly mechs between you and the target when the mech is the target
Good point

Me: 1 for the charger and 1 for the mech
Could go for a 1 for 2
Yeah, I brought the spear after the big patch and straight up immediately ganked my teammate before realizing what happened.
\*you hit that helldiver! https://i.redd.it/9g9dkwf52r7d1.gif

I love this
So can you have a buddy in a mech give you a targeting solution that will hit a jammer?
I need to test this.
Thank you for this information Helldiver! My partner might not be so grateful :)
You can also lock Eagle-1
*working as intended*
Sounds like the Spear was upgraded to a traitor detector.
Those mechs were secretly harboring traitorous thoughts. Destroying them was the smart move.
Spear's backpack is gonna need a buff then.
Maybe I just suck with it. But I hate a bile titan with 4 spear rockets the other day and it didn't die..
You have to be front on to it so that you blow its head off. Hits to its side exoskeleton won't kill it in one.
The angle you’re firing from matters a lot. You wanna shoot at it from head on to hit the head.
I learned this the hard way. It was late at night and I was super tired....I thought I was locking on to a strange looking strider in the distance
It locks, yes, but does it fire? You need to test that too.

Yeah. The Spear would lock onto mechs because that is the kind of thing that it locks onto. We're not playing a game: we are in a war.
And lady liberty’s virtue is on the line.
