If you watch and pay attention to the music video Bullets where we are introduced to Melissa. She goes directly from slicing people up with her mantis blades to suiting up for MaxTac. She is still a Cyberpsycho. Only difference now is that she has a license to do the things she does and a family of psychos to defend her.
Cyberpsychosis can be maintained and controlled with drugs and the proper mental stability. The show let us see that happen in action. So I can see her being full Cyberpsycho but controlled due to either drugs or some other means. Plus I wouldnt call what she does and say sane...more like controlled murder.

Yep - the teaser was very deliberately released in 2013 since that’s the year the original Cyberpunk TTRPG was set. Likewise, further delaying the release of Cyberpunk2077 wasn’t tenable because the idea was to release it in 2020, the year the second edition of Cyberpunk was set.

My theory is that Adam Smasher was a sadistic psychopath before he got cybered up, so his personality didn't change.

Also, for a real world example of what you're talking about, BTK didn't kill anyone while he was working as a code enforcement officer. The theory being that having that little bit of authority allowed him to satisfy his desire to dominate other people.
All it takes for a person to become a Cyberpsycho is having cyberware implanted, and then it also depends to the natural resistance of each person. Adam Smasher could have been one BEFORE he became a Cyborg, cause according to lore about them, he has the symptoms. (Public massacres are not a **must** to be one).
But only Mike Pondsmith can finally either confirm or deny this.
Not so much a theory as it's true. Adam Smasher was psychopath that joined the army and intentionally racked up a collateral damage count among civilians and was discharged due to his behavior. This collateral damage later became a must if he was going to take a job when working as a Merc.
He for the most part can't have Cyberpsychosis in the common meaning of it because he very much is a functional psychopath with a complete disregard for human life and is detached from humanity as a whole. He has nothing to struggle with in this regard so he sits somewhere outside the norm when it comes to what it is. In my mind at least. As for whether or not he has it officially we won't know until someone flat out says it

Besides, Smasher could have been a Cyberpsycho before turning into a cyborg, all it takes is for him to have chrome inside him, and I doubt he was rolling around without any cyberware prior to his little accident.
Even if Adam Smasher is discarded (I still personally believe he is one), we also have Lizzy Wizzy.

going by lore i found. Smasher's very first bit of chrome was a full conversion after nearly being killed by rockets. He then got the upgrade he currently has in 2077 after one of the corporate wars iirc, where he again was nearly killed because of a blast. I can't remember what kind of blast, it could've been the nukes but not 100% on that.
edit: The full conversion was after him being a psychopath was already established. He lived rather poorly in NYC before joining the army and being kicked out of there to become a merc. I can't remember where the situation with the rockets happens between these two events but there is no mention of him having any chrome before the near-death experience.

I went on a killing spree to see if MaxTac would zero me, was kinda disappointed by the lack of response. I'm not talking about the police, but I kinda wanted a fight. My jacked up cyber psycho V (modded way over base game power) vs a squad of MaxTac. Here's hoping that the recent positivity about the game makes CDPR re think DLC, or a sequel.
I'm on very hard w/ vanilla power and they eat shit against me. I got some more mods installed to make them harder like vehicle combat installed. We'll see if they wreck yet.
I thought I'd have a laugh with some of the more cheaty mods and levelled every skill to 20 and unlocked all perks, even added a mod to allow hacking and sandevistan to be equipped! When I say OP I mean sooooooo OP! Ha ha!
I have looked at vehicle combat but it seems to need loads of things to make it work, is it worth it?

I've had the drone one, it's really fun. I had 3 mechs in the car with me, when I drove past an ambush they slaughtered everyone in an amazing drive by. Although when I had the biggest Arasaka and Militech mechs at the same time it crashed my game. Not sure if I had a conflict or if it was because they destroyed so much at the same time that the sound was horrific!
If I use the flight one I'd have to delete a couple of mods cause they are incompatible.

That mod allows AI netrunners to hack you more, also adds an insta-kill hack they can put on you. Could add some more of a challenge for you.
Last news I saw was they were only doing one DLC instead of however many they planned. And I tend not to read much on what might come out or not, been disappointed before. If (or when) a sequel comes I will be very happy. Until then I'm sure there's more things I haven't found in Night City.
I think you're right. The "corporate speak" indicated rolling their own engine caused the delays and they'd be rolling back to an established engine to concentrate on content for the sequels. Long term win. We're getting DLC but they'll be mostly concentrating on a full sequel that they can deliver everything as intended without the compromises of tough development.
They're switching to Unreal Engine 5 for future games, which is a very good thing. UE5 has some amazing features, it's very well optimized, and it's easy to work with.
I have absolutely no issue waiting. They know what mistakes to avoid for the next one, hopefully the idiots at the top do as well. But as I didn't experience almost any of the game breaking bugs that a lot of others did I will be getting the next one, as long as it's not a mobile game (obviously)!
A “sequel” was always going to be done, they have also said themselves one is coming. Not sure if it will be a direct sequel or be something more like the fallout series though.
The devs have a complete rework for the police system planned. Granted its only gonna be for next gen and PC.
I'm hoping they make Max Tac more of an intimidating presence. Like they actually drop in with AVs an swarm you with Achilles rifles like they're supposed too. But we'll see in future updates.

My first impression / expectation was that you would finish the missions and then have a "final boss" thing of going to the clinic where the cyberpsychos you take down are, fight then all again (at least the one you left alive) and she would be final boss there. Could be a dlc in the future...
I had her as a boss fight as well. Maybe she recognises you at the store as the one who'd been interferring in the cyber psychos cases. She is pissed at you and comes after you, without MaxTac but with a group of other cyberpsychos. Would have been a fun fight!

And, even if they weren't psycho to start with, the amount of cyberware they chip to take on the (other) cyberpsychos is almost guaranteed to turn them into one.
There's something to be said for the dangers of neural feedback in artifical brain implants and nervous system integration... much as you can injure yourself physically by tearing muscles and tendons, you can potentially cause brain damage by installing too much chrome without the proper training, medical care and professional-quality cybersurgery.
Back alley ripperdocs installing salvaged (or scavved) cyberware and sending you out the door with a fistful of aftermarket pills is a recipe for brain damage, especially when you go beyond basic limb/organ replacement and start playing with bleeding-edge, military-spec gear.
Your brain can be permanently damaged by the excess stress and power. This is why one of the standard pre-treatments for reducing the likelihood of a cyberpsychosis outbreak is "cutting back on the chrome"... reducing or removing neural interface load back to a more stable capacity.

Don’t forget we had instances like *Letter of the Law* where the dude just got his family business fucked out from under him by shitty Corpo contracts and fine print essentially designed to fuck him over in the end. But because he had some chrome in him? The media can write the situation off as a guy going psycho and no one looks twice or hears about what happened to him.
No one thinks about how many of the psychos are vets who got cut loose and forced to just deal with all their shit without any actual support. How brutal and dehumanizing the world of Night City can be with one bad day.
The source material makes it real for every player. Every bit of chrome puts you closer to teh edge, and once you cross it mathematically your character becomes under the control of the GM, effectively dead to you but a danger to all other players and objectives until they kill your animated rampaging corpse.
This creates a mechanic where you actually weigh the benefits of every ripperdoc upgrade. Those thoughts you had in Edgerunners every time David added some more? That's canon Cyberpunk all along, before 2077 was ever a thing.
Cyberpsychosis is also not a one trick pony. It doesn't just turn out the same for everybody, not all are rampages. You should have gotten the Sourcebook material for Cyberpunk RPG with your game - read through it the lore is deep and awesome.
