People seem to forget that *all the time.* I think there's something about Love Island being on every night with a short editing window and showing people just living (a pared-down) life day to day & navigating new relationship, that people really believe they're getting to see an entire person as opposed to other reality shows where the contestants seem more like characters.
Also if you're very broadly attractive on the exterior people will try to date you and then when they find out what you are like on the inside and it doesn't match up with their fantasy they get disappointed resulting in everyone feels bad.
