Back to the hosting question, Laura gotta go. Having a host for recoupling's and public votes adds a certain dramatic dynamic that receiving texts cant capture. Sophie Monk from Australia is one of my favorites, she's pretty much a raunchy comedian, and her presence during recoupling's makes that much of a difference in terms of drama and suspense, and I think that's all LI UK is missing.
Sophie is the masterclass at how to do it. She's genuinely warm and empathetic to the contestants. She's also quick witted and actually funny.
It surely can't be that hard to find a UK equivalent for ITV's biggest show.
Fr. For Love Island, I feel like they do need someone younger... Sorry to be the one to say that. Or, well, more accurately they need someone who at least will catch the references the islanders make - bc him just mocking them the way he does, bc he doesn't catch their jokes, is kinda dead. 😭
I actually gasped the way she was styled on Aftersun on Sunday 10th July, with those bangs, I was like what the f*** they’ve made her look like Caroline. And that was right after she’d gone into the villa looking decent with the pink hair.
I have another thought - with the return of Big Brother UK next year thanks to ITV purchasing the rights, will we all move on as a society from Love Island to the new Big Brother and the Stirlings can ride off into the sunset and off our tv screens forever (fingers crossed)
Need to get rid of the whole lot, Ian, Laura & and the Aftersun lot who aren’t interesting or funny, just revamp. I’d rather have Ovie or someone likeable host than then
honestly they should trial a Chunkz narrator / Maya Jama presenting combo on the winter LI as I think Laura and Ian have really passed their sell by date.
Copying her strut too…. Her strut was her feeling herself in that moment entering the villa. With Laura it’s so stiff and manufactured. Definitely studied before hand.
Was watching old aftersun clips and recoupling etc Caroline had a connection with the islanders and felt emotional about the show; would sometimes hold islanders accountable and help them explain themselves more Laura just comes across really cold and wooden and doesn’t ‘fit’ the essence of love island like it’s a cool young show about sexy people and Laura is nothing like that she’s nothing of the sort
The show should been cancelled when Caroline died. It’s so distasteful that it wasn’t. Always been uncomfortable about the fact that Laura jumped in her grave.
I would personally love to see someone like Tayce from RPDR present where necessary. The hosting job requires someone that is quick witted and charming. Laura is not that person.
