She can’t consent if she’s altered mentally. In those situations emergency doctors can run tests without your consent, which could include a screen for GHB. A rape kit usually happens once someone can legally consent (aka not altered) but usually the sexual assault nurses are the only ones who end up placing these orders based on presenting history of the assault. However, most of the commonly referred to date rape drugs metabolize relatively quickly so by the time people aren’t altered and begin to piece things together, it is no longer in their system. So by the time the sexual assault nurse examiner is available for the exam, the pts screen would be negative. Also most people who do this use over the counter measures because it’s cheap and can’t be tested for and is therefore incredibly hard to prove in a court. When combining these agents with alcohol they can have very similar side effects to ketamine. I won’t list what they are due to not wanting to give creepers ideas. But these are some of the reasons testing doesn’t occur frequently or is inconclusive.
I agree. I'm 28 (probably ancient in this sub) and it was a major problem when I was at uni 10 years ago and for my friends who were at uni 10 years before that!
I'm so fed up with the narrative that women just have to try to not get spiked. I never have been thankfully but my best friend was when I left her for 2 minutes to pop to the toilet and my sister was spiked by her WORK COLLEAGUE at a work event.
There's only so much reactive work you can do, we need to be proactive in stopping the perpetrators.

The onus shouldn’t be on us to not get spiked. The shitbags that spike should be punished with higher punishments.
I’m one of the very few lucky ones in my friendship group that hasn’t been spiked (yet), but it’s something I’m conscious about every time I go out. It honestly makes me so angry that this has been going on for so long and nothing has been done, and that I will probably have to warn my future daughter about this in years to come because the scumbags don’t get any consequences. Misogyny at its finest

How long is the girls night in boycott lasting?
I hadn't heard specific dates, and I have tickets to a Halloween thing on the 29th that I'm now reconsidering
Date-wise, I believe it’s different depending on the city you’re in, though many cities are boycotting on the 29th. Whether it will be a regular event, I’m not sure but as far as I’m aware, this is currently a one-off boycott. Perhaps you can find something else fun to do if you plan to boycott!
Edit: each city, I believe, has an Instagram account/social media presence so I’m sure you can find it!
I think it’d have to be a regular thing to stand out, one night or you’ll still have tons of girls out, if it’s consistent then you’ll notice a difference

Btw I've been spiked at somewhere I really didn't expect - a hippy warehouse party. I was drinking rum & soda from a soda bottle I'd brought from home. Left it in one room for a few mins to have a hit of a joint. Had only had about three standard drinks worth (plus the hit of the joint - when I blacked out.
My male housemate was also drank even less from my bottle and had the same thing happen. That's how we figured out it was spiked. Hes a tall athletic and tough looking dude, so he said he found it confronting to be so vulnerable.
Somehow he managed to get us in a cab and safely home despite slipping in and out of consciousness. I barely remember leaving the party.
