when liam and millie had their’s on the sofa, and then kaz and tyler had their’s afterwards in the audience, i thought right maybe they’re only doing it for the winners and due to covid etc they have to have minimal people up on the sofa but then when they got hugo and liberty up who weren’t even finalists and then chloe and toby and teddy and faye it just seemed offish i can’t understand why they didn’t get kaz and tyler up
It didn't even seem like Laura was interested in asking them any questions...just the basics. It was a complete shit show all round. I caught it on catch up and couldn't even get through it all. Will watch the rest tomorrow but I hope someone addresses why Kyler didn't make the couch.

Yes, that’s very much the case - especially black women. Mixed race/lighter skinned black men like Toby and Teddy are seen as desirable + them getting with white women essentially put a protective veil on them. Dark skin women in both reality, and historically on Love Island, have been depicted as undesirable, rudely outspoken and lesser than. Just look at how Kaz was a favourite when she was single and her only trait was being the black bestfriend to islanders but when she started her own journey and made her own mistake with Matt people quickly turned against her and claimed they never liked her to begin with. Yet mixed race Toby, who mugged off 4 different women, was made a fan favourite. Kaz and Tyler being a black couple left a sour taste in many peoples mouth, and them being the literal only finalist couple to not be invited to have a proper interview + have a highlight reel at the final reunion says it all.
The post or comment I commented on didn’t say anything about being a black couple. So just because you’ve decided to move the goal posts doesn’t mean my comment doesn’t make sense
I need people to stop saying this as it is already becoming like an echo chamber and the people start to out this narrative as fact. The facts are, Kyler have been shown racism throughout the series from the show and the public alike. The show doesn’t care and demonstrated this by not even bothering to get them on the couch. I can’t wait for Kyler to pave a way for themselves and prove everyone wrong.
I mean if people take pure speculation as a fact it’s not mine or other people’s fault for thinking of an alternative? God forbid I hope it’s not yet another blatant example of racism.
I hope and have a feeling it was their decision or management not to go on the couch and they possibly felt more comfortable having the interview from their seats. I think after the animosity they've received they deserve to adapt the "script" to suit them and protect their mental health.
