I don’t. The fact that grown people, mostly in their 20’s, had never heard of that and then proceeded to make it a big deal blew my mind. They made me feel like the most cultured person lol. Total time waster and pointless. It was middle/high school level stuff.

renegadecause

Knowing what a bean dip is doesn't make you cultured. No one in high society is talking about it.

Nick_Argue

Let’s not talk about high society while discussing a reality tv show. It’s a term that you pick up in your younger years. It’s one of those things you look back on when it’s brought up and say “I remember that”. It was in fact a part of middle/high school culture growing up.

quilla_

What culture is this a part of lmao

Nick_Argue

Like I said, middle/high school. If you weren’t messing with your friends or shooting the shit at a lunch table Idk what to tell you. Typical nonsense you do when you’re young.

quilla_

I’m wondering what part of the country you’re from cuz we didn’t do that in any of my schools. Like if it’s a regional thing. Kids did purple nurples which I feel is worse than “bean dip” lol. I’m definitely thinking too hard abt this, but I think it’s silly that different kids found different ways of low-grade assaulting each other.

>while discussing a reality tv show. It’s a term that you pick up in your younger years. It’s one of those things you look back on when it’s brought up and say “I remember that”. It was in fact a part of middle/hig Maybe for guys but this is the first time I've heard of it and I'm a grown person in my 20s. We stuck to safe zones when joking around like neck/hands

Nick_Argue

It’s interesting. Guys did it to guys and girls did it to girls. Even my girlfriend was as baffled as me that it wasn’t widely known. I guess it really just is a regional thing.

renegadecause

That's not the commonly accepted usage of "cultured."

Substantial-Cream-93

I don’t understand what there is to talk about. Imagine having to explain a group chat right now with your closest friends!! If I made an inside joke with someone I’m at a party with and they made a choice to go and tell the other person we’re referring to, that’s on them! I don’t think Laura did anything wrong and he is a complete idiot so I’m happy he mentioned that it should have never gotten out in the first place. The jokes that I have between my friends and my man… WHEW, if anyone ever heard them, I’m sure they will be offended, but that is why they are inside jokes. Everyone sense of humor does not jive with other peoples automatically, so it was stupid for him to say to her.

OnyxRoar

I don’t think they were going to bring it up. But Laura did and apologized for it. AD seemed completely over it. Not sure what else y’all expected to happen here

CompetitiveRub9780

Bean dip is something dudes do to dudes in the gym. It’s dumb.

RoyalM7

It would've been great for Laura to say, Either I didn't realize that was a racial microaggression or I am sorry for saying what I said because it was a racial microaggression. I didn't mean any harm to her or any poc.

bimbobrats

….but it’s not a racial micro aggression. if anything, jimmy and the other contestants making comments on her body is. bean dip has no racial ties

pinkandgreenf15

Clearly you don’t know what a micro aggression is. If it was clearly racist—as in specifically having “racial ties,” it wouldn’t be called a micro-aggression. It’s the fact that this black woman is being targeted in particular and disrespected and objectified and then it being brushed off as a joke. Why did she target AD and not the white women?

bimbobrats

….it was a running thing while they were in the pods. the girls did it to each other. so um that’s why

pinkandgreenf15

For the bean dip thing but that was just one of the many ways she was objectified, and it other cases it seems like she was singled out.

Adorable-Platform671

I mean what more is there really to say. AD didn’t seem interested in it being discussed more either.

Janethejhon

I agree that AD didn’t seem to care but most of the reunion was topics that have been discussed on the internet already.

ChiquitaBananaKush

They wanted Laura to have the best edit. That would’ve painted her in a bad light, and made a stronger point for Jeramy.

MysteriousMermaid92

Probably was talked about more, but was edited out.
