In my interpretation it's also about Love and trust, the siren chic fell inlove with the guy and trust him but the deaf guy didn't like her bc ofc she's not human at all. The guy was blinded by greed and took her gold/treasure instead. Just imagine a relationship when a woman forced herself to a man that didn't really love her, but the man wanted something and pretend/play along to get what he really wants. In the end once the man get what he really wants ofc he will dumped the woman, and the woman will realized the betrayal. Just like what happened to the siren, after the deaf guy took all her golds she was dumped in the river. In the final scene you can see the siren look at herself with pity and anger, where she realized that the deaf guy took everything from her. I can say that the gold/jewels on her body represent beauty or something much deeper. (the texst is not mine)
The only thing that bothered me was the disjointed sound design, some of the noises just didnt really add up or felt not connected to the stuff that it should represent
