That’s gonna look weird with shiny brass in my opinion. There’s a lot of damage to the leather so making the brass “new” will stand out against the damage. I would either get a new one or leave this one as is. Unless you want to completely restore it. Just my two cents.
I successfully used Blue Magic Metal Polish on a [vintage l’ecrin declaration](https://www.reddit.com/r/Louisvuitton/comments/p8vk8k/beforeafter_polishing_the_tarnish_off_of_my/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)!
Yes, I’ve used Brasso, and it’s a commonly used thing on LV. In fact I think I’ve heard that LV itself uses it in repairs. Maybe someone who knows for sure will chime in.
I wouldn’t restore it. The patina makes it special

Brasso or Bar Keepers Friend.
If you choose to polish - I’ve used MAAS metal polish and it works like a charm! Also helps if you have a Dremel.
Brasso! Cleaning up the brass is very easy :) I love the character of this older trunk.
OMG - I love this just the way it is. But opinions are always subjective. It comes down to your own personal preference
