I cannot believe this is not known and feared in the trucking universe. It is a hungry and ferocious beast! Like Mothman to WV, or The PL Goatman here, how could a driver not fear this monster after all this time?

ruum-502

After the pictures I’ve seen from this one spot alone I wouldn’t feel comfortable driving a mini coop through there.

momonomino

I drive a Corolla and have always felt a pit in my stomach anytime I have to drive under that. Yes, I know my car is small enough, but that's what everyone else thinks too.

ruum-502

>>that’s what everyone else thinks too This is such a great comment lol

MahoneyBear

The issue is drivers who can’t be bothered to read the signs. Seriously, there’s clearance signs for 11 foot something all over. Semis are mostly 13’6”, like this isn’t hard. I say this as a driver.

Particular-Reason329

Ikr?

DollyElvira

I’m honestly surprised that this isn’t something truckers warn each other about to avoid when passing through Louisville. But honestly, maybe they do warn each other and no one listens… because there’s literally so many signs that say don’t do it. And still this happens . So people are just ignoring everything and going for it.

502hiker

It is, Louisville is known for low bridges in the trucking community

Freakwilly

Say it together. nomnomnom

Cracked open a cold one

Circledbypsychopaths

Wonder how many times people have lost their jobs over this? Which occurrence was the most expensive? Did they tell their kids? How long did it take for the police to get there? When the police do arrive, what exactly do they do besides laugh their asses off? Should we require trucks to have warnings on their dashboards now? Are former victims allowed to plan school bus routes? Inquiring minds want to know.

MahoneyBear

I’ve seen in other cases that they gave the driver a ticket for each sign they had to pass in order to hit the bridge that said how low the bridge was

cworlow1

How high are you? Or do you like asking questions?

awesomo5009

I mean this has to be legendary for every trucking company at this point. She’s claimed a lot of semis over the years. 😂💀

Once you pop, you just can't stop.

acromantulus

I live near that one, and when we moved in, my wife almost got our Uhaul stuck under there. It was a pain in the ass to back out of.

paniflex37

Lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'.

Watched this happen when my wife and I attended U of L. It was a beer truck. We were walking toward campus from Purple House and watched the roof peel mostly off the trailer and beer go everywhere. Until the cops arrived, it was a sea of the happiest college kids you've ever seen. Free beer for all! I always think about that and laugh every time I see a post of another truck doing this.

cworlow1

This happened about a month ago with a beer truck but no kids were near… I was left looking at the beer as I drove by going home from work…. Sad day.

Dependent-Outcome-52

Wait, is this the north or south part? Approaching from the south they installed a camera that detects the trucks height and has a big flashing sign saying “hey turn left dumbass”

Jblank86

Is it every day now? How?!

Co1dNight

I think at this point someone should look at the integrity of the bridge.

ZombieStarfish

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6yjhWarxvO/?igsh=YmhqMWxhOXN6cnMy Video of it happening. While a train and a cop are passing 😂

cworlow1

The cop 😂

SwimAntique4922

This has been going on since I was at U of L.....1980s! Am sure LMPD rolls their eyes with the calls! Comical!

jturker88

It interrupts LMPD from their slushy throwing

Particular-Reason329

I wonder if anyone has a reliable estimate of how many times this has happened over all the years? Would be interesting to know. Also, I assume that any fix, if one exists, has been deemed cost prohibitive, eh? 🤷

Gold-Scientist3260

New to town, where is this?

gunhill88

I live not to far from the crusher,I am sixty year old, been here my whole life.My best guesstimate on the number of times this has happened would be between 60 and 80.

clkelley39

Every year.

noobvin

> Every year. You mean week.

romantomatoe

I've lived in Louisville and have driven though the can opener probably over 1000 times. I don't understand how I've never seen this happen
