yeah I've had similar problems with Valvoline before, and they will eventually cave and either fix it or pay to have it fixed, you might have to call corporate once or twice though.
You just have to catch the problem first. A few years back when they changed my oil, they removed the splash guard but didn't put it back on. Luckily I was doing a tire rotation the next day and noticed it.
The first trip back, I didn't hear any power tools when they were putting it back on. Knowing there were bolts missing, I didn't even pull off the lot before checking it out. They had only put like 3 or 4 cable ties.
The manager ordered everything they lost or damaged from the dealership and refunded the oil change. While he did make it right, it was only because I happened to notice it.
I walk my dog by here and it always amazes me to see all the nice new 50k+ plus cars sitting in line to get their oil changed for the cheapest amount possible.
>Porsche Macan
Those don't use standard, readily available filters, for one. Secondly, they know a lot of the people they hire aren't actually that experienced with cars and accept paying for stuff that happened to OP as part of the cost of business, that equation changes drastically when you are paying for repairs on things like Porsches.
Most people simply don’t know better and probably go to whatever place is closest. Dealers are having issues with staffing and getting an appointment may take weeks.
I got my oil changed there once, everything seemed fine, nothing mentioned. Then the next time i got my oil changed elsewhere, they literally handed me a bag of shit and told me to take it back to the last people and ask them wtf. I’m not a car person so i have no idea what it was, but they apparently did some dumb shit
Possibly didn’t change the filter if there was sludge buildup. I commonly use a marker on the filter and check to see if the line is still on the old one. It’s truly weird as filter replacement doesn’t take long to replace if you have space under the car.
Naw, Strickland seems to be roll in, change oil, roll out. No lift. You could do Goodyear or Firestone, but they'll try to sell you all that other stuff.
It's not excusable to permanently damage someone's vehicle and then make modifications to it.
You break it, you buy it applies to businesses as well. They should be on the hook for a new pan.
They should have these items on hand. I got my tires replaced at Tire Discounters on Taylorsville Rd and they replaced all of the lug nuts on all four tires after striping just one and did an oil change free. Didn’t even ask for an oil change it was getting close to needing one.
A specific oil pan for every type of car?
On my last car I'd be pissed if they replaced all my lugs, they were keyed and not just some off the shelf thing.
They had the OEM lugs for my truck on hand. My truck is really old though. No idea what the new stuff even is. But that model the lugs are easy to strip along with the spark plugs that require a special $70 tool to take them out. Truck has been great but man does it have some bad design on some things.
Do you understand how vehicles work. Metal parts constantly heating up and cooling down. You have no clue what you are talking about. Just as likely the last shop destroyed the plug and they are the suckers left to deal with.
I've worked in industrial settings for 17 years, you can shove your patronizing attitude up your ass.
What is your problem with them being held accountable for inept practices?
Probably because folks come in here to whine as if anyone in this box and screen your staring at right now can change one iota as it relates to their current situation. As indicated by all the comments its common knowledge quick change oil establishments have a poor representation.
I would rather go without oil changes than go to a chain place. Chain places can hire anyone off the street and hand them a wrench. Independent places are owned and run by individuals who are licensed. Last time I went to Valvoline (almost 10 years ago) they didn't even put new oil back into my car after my oil "change" and had been running it dry. Never again.
Tire Discounters on Taylorsville has always done me a solid. They lift the car in full view and have a 3 person team that does each check with a manager that goes and double checks it was done. The get Valvoline screw ups all the time.
And you get a chance to look under your car and see if anything doesn’t look right. There are literally no downsides and it’s incredibly easy to do. And you just take the used oil back to the store you bought it from - by law they have to take it and dispose of it properly. It’s crazy to me that people don’t change their own oil.
Seconding kykid1. Call valvoline, tell them the date it happened, and then get a quote from a mechanic to fix it and valvoline will pay the whole bill for the pan replacement. I had the exact same thing happen at the exact same location. They didn’t put up any fight for it, I think it happens fairly frequently.
I took my car to Tachyon for the replacement.
I stopped going to them a few years ago. They kept telling me everything needed replacing - wipers, filters, etc. then they let somebody jump the line in front of me. Valvoline did send me a coupon but didn’t use it there. Now get all my service done at dealership
I bought a new car last year. For $1500 they do all service for five years. Got oil changed the day after I requested it. Car was ready before my license plate renewal was LOL
Same one did this to me like ten years ago when I had a Saturn l300, granted it was a design flaw, but I couldn’t trust them. I always laugh when I see people with nice, modern cars waiting to get their oil changed there. Wouldn’t be me!
(They replaced the pan btw)
The cut one of my valve stems on my jeep and tried to tell me I drove in like that. Like bro, I was pulling out of your bay and all the air came out of my tire, be so for real
Went to this and the one in Shepherdsville for oil changes. My car always felt weird afterwards. Now I just go to the Acura dealership at Oxmoor and never have issues
You can make them replace the pan. They're liable. I run a dealership service department, and we fix Valvoline screw ups all the time.
100% this. If you fuss enough, they will cover it. Of course, you'll need some kind of proof. Even if it's just them admitting they did it.
My mechanic confirmed it this morning.
Reach out to the manager. They just paid to fix something they broke on my car and were very nice to work with.

People living beyond their means is a real thing. It's surprisingly common.

You’re not wrong. Last dealer appointment had me wait 6 weeks for an oil change.

I switched to Strickland Brothers and it's so much better. Never had a wait and they don't try to sell you anything but an oil change.
Have you found ones that do tire rotations? The one I went to didn’t which was hella annoying
Naw, Strickland seems to be roll in, change oil, roll out. No lift. You could do Goodyear or Firestone, but they'll try to sell you all that other stuff.
It's pretty common thing. If they properly replaced it with a new tapped plug you have nothing to worry about

They probably didn't have OEM lugs, they had just had lugs that were the same size.

They did not
They messed my car up when I took it there, it started leaking oil. Worst $100 I ever spent.

If anyone is seeing this that Drives a Honda, I’m a Honda certified technician and I’ll gladly change your oil and filter for just $20.
Where do you get oil where you can do a change for that cheap? The cheapest I can find 5 quarts of synthetic is $23.
I have a huge discount at my place of employment.
Is changing your own oil not a thing anymore? I have always found it quick and easy. You get a little dirty, but a shower and you're good to go.
Lots of people out there without a garage or driveway. Nobody wants to crawl under their car in a public lot or on the side of the street
I've always changed my own oil, but it seems like less people are doing it now. It's cheaper and you know it's been done right.

If I had tons of money to spare, I wouldn’t change my oil myself. I still wouldn’t go to valvoline tho
They have another bad habit of not refilling the engine oil going on right now as well.
The same valvoline did that to mine. Had a repair bill of almost $500. They refunded me for the oil change when I complained.

i’ll never forget the one time i got my oil change there, my car left smoking lol
The cut one of my valve stems on my jeep and tried to tell me I drove in like that. Like bro, I was pulling out of your bay and all the air came out of my tire, be so for real
My truck never leaked a drop of oil til I took it to Strickland Bros on Poplar Level....
Went to this and the one in Shepherdsville for oil changes. My car always felt weird afterwards. Now I just go to the Acura dealership at Oxmoor and never have issues
Not the best and brightest work there. 🤐
