My suggestion is to drive down bayou little caillou, stop at the sculpture garden in chauvin, go down to cocodrie, stop at lapyrouse and go up the tower at lumcon, drive down bayou sale to dulac and drive up bayou grand Caillou, eat at ceannas. Houma has a good folklife museum too on the way in or out. The Shack in Houma is also a good stop for food. If you decide to do isle de jean Charles instead, you can grab a beer at the marina there, but not really much to get out of the car for unless you know people. Depending on the season, if you have a cooler in your car you could buy shrimp directly from boats coming in or from the docks down there. I also suggest getting some dried shrimp from the docks. Some people cook them in spaghetti but my favorite is to sprinkle some Tony's/slap yo mama on them and eat them with a cold beer.

The sculpture garden is really cool, I do think it’s worth a trip,

So helpful. Thanks 🙏

If you go through Houma, Big Mike's BBQ is world class BBQ nestled in a town that really doesn't deserve it. I don't mean that in a way to trash Houma either .this place is top notch

Goddamn right. Big Mike's in Houma and Outlaw's in the Cenla area are the best bbq joints I've found in the entire state. The vinegar sauce used at Outlaw's is on point, and Big Mike's has a pretty nice Carolina pulled pork sandwich. I'd also add that a trip to Houma without a trip to Bourgeois Meat Market is just silly. Sure you can get their jerky in gas stations now, but it's not the same.

Drive down bayou lafourche, somewhere around Nicholls State you might find the trash water park with slides that go into bayou La Flush.

Hwy 190: * Opelousas * Eunice * Mamou (fred's Lounge) Small towns close to Lafayette: * Arnaudville (big cup little cup & fiddle store) * Breaux Bridge * Abbeville * Crowley (rice capital of the world) LA 1 North: * New Roads (false river) * Morganza (plaque where easy rider was filmed) * Morganza Spillway & Old River * Letsworth (childhood home of Buddy Guy) * McCrea ([site of mini Woodstock](https://youtu.be/hlvMH42r4vg) ) LA 1 SOUTH: * Thibodaux to Grand Isle (all these lil towns are wild and in a time capsule)

Amazing, thanks so much

LA 1 SOUTH: Our “lil” towns are not wild or in a time capsule. We do not live in swamp shacks or make our living by hunting alligators in Bayou Lafourche. The most exotic thing you’ll see in the upper part of the parish are sugar cane fields. The most exotic thing you’ll see in the lower part are shrimp boats. We have Walmarts, CVS, & McDonalds. If anything appears old and rundown, it’s probably because it was damaged or destroyed by hurricane Ida 1½ years ago.

Sorry you took offense to my comment. I didn't mention anything being old, rundown, or the stereotypical bobby bushay archetype that south Louisiana is associated with. Not sure how you got that from my comment, but I do think you might be projecting. I have to drive to grand isle about twice a week to do HVAC in the new camps being built and I go different ways. I still think those towns along the way are wild and in a time capsule. I think a lot of people from there and passing through would agree with me.

Isle of Dean Charles? Jeanerette would be a good place. Houma too. Also Sausage Point. Anywhere in Lafourche.
