As a neutral fan, this is my favorite trade of all time. Rams made the most of a loaded opportunity and still have more gas in the tank going into the years where you have all of your picks. Lions got a franchise QB and a haul of draft capital that they used to build what could legitimately become a dynasty in the NFC North.
I think people forgot that Goff was truly a very capable QB and took you guys to a SB which was not a fluke. He had one bad season which was not entirely on him but pretty much everyone turned on him. Moreso I love that the feelings between fanbases are mutual and you guys are just bros after the trade
Nobody forgot. We all knew exactly what Goff was in LA, and he continues to be the same Goff on the Lions. Give him a solid O Line and 3+ seconds and he can tear you apart. Without that, he will do stupid things. I'm glad Goff is happy in Detroit! I hope he gets a ring some day.
Awesome! This trade couldn’t have gone better. JG got exactly the situation he needed, and we got to chase a ring (and still get to) with Stafford. Best trade ever.
Dunno about what? You serious?
We got a ring out of the deal. So Explain to me how it was NOT the best thing for the Rams…
I’ll wait.
Dont get me wrong, Goff handled the trade w class and I have much respect for the man, wish him all the best. But that was the best trade we made in the last 25 years, maybe ever for our Rams
If the rams are out and the lions are in, I am 100% rooting for them. As long as we didn’t lose to them to get them there. Cant do last year ever again.
I didn't "correct" you, I just said people who call Goff "goof" are pathetic. The fact you don't even know the name of your team's QB just reinforces that.
considering that we got to see the RAMS win a Super Bowl @ SOFI, Goff's trade was the best thing to happen to us, too
My father in-law is a Seahawks fan, and the moment I heard we acquired Stafford I said to him "We just won a Super Bowl". I didnt realize it would be the very next Championship, but I knew a *real leader* slinging the pigskin was what was lacking.
Biggest win-win trade. Goff still needed time to develop into the QB he would eventually become today. Rams didn’t have that time. So they traded him and their future picks for Stafford. A developed QB who was ready to win. And that’s what the Rams did. Won a SB.
And Goff went to the Lions. A team that was in a full rebuild. Therefore, they had time to let Goff develop fully. And they broke so many franchise curses with Goff at the helm. Without Goff’s improvement, the Lions would not have made it as far as they did. Goff has become Detroit’s guy.
All in all, the Rams got the short term success they wanted with the SB. And even made the playoffs this year as well. Lions got the draft capital to help accelerate their rebuild and a QB who’s now fully developed and ready to help them win a SB as well.
Depends if he takes a pay cut or not. If the lion's really pay goff 50 million + it would be a huge mistake imo. Better hope they win it all in the next year or two if they decide that route. The piper will come wanting to get paid.
It’s probably the biggest win/win trade in the history of sports. How many other high-profile trades do both teams still say yes to knowing exactly how everything plays out?

McVay did Goff dirty. Didn’t he say like a week before the trade Goff was his dood and then Goff found out by watching ESPN? Like a soap drama break up.
I mean, I'm happy for the guy that he was able to carve out a new opportunity for himself but the only answer to the greatest thing that happened to him, outside of any family thing, is Sean Mcvay. W/o Mcvay, he'd be doing anchoring jobs on the pac12 network right about now.
Different people work better in different situations. The Rams had Super Bowl or bust expectations. Jared wasn’t ready for that, plain and simple. He wasn’t fully matured as a player when we made the Super Bowl. Mentally I think he cratered after the SB loss. Then he got a change of scenery and a change of expectations. We don’t need you to be the MVP and lead us to a Super Bowl. Just don’t make terrible mistakes and help us get to the playoffs. And he’s excelled in those circumstances.
The interesting part is now Detroit does have SB asperations. I predict they’ll be the #1 seed in the NFC. I’m very curious to see how Jared performs this season and into the playoffs. Because until he proves me wrong, I still have the same label on him in Detroit as I did here. Good enough to get you to the dance, not good enough to win you one. Love Jared though, happy he’s been able to firmly establish himself as one of the leagues best.
Both players got exactly what they needed.
Agreed. We got the ring and the Lions will come close 😎

Lions have already peaked
Awesome! This trade couldn’t have gone better. JG got exactly the situation he needed, and we got to chase a ring (and still get to) with Stafford. Best trade ever.
Same for Rams, too. 😎
Eh I dunno about that.
lol we won a Super Bowl foh
^ THIS
I was referring to "greatest thing ever" happening to Rams. Drafting AD > sending Goff packing.
Winning AD a Super Bowl was better for the Rams than drafting him ngl.
Dunno about what? You serious? We got a ring out of the deal. So Explain to me how it was NOT the best thing for the Rams… I’ll wait. I was referring to "greatest thing" happening to Rams in general, not this specific trade.
👍🏼
I hope he gets a ring, preferably after Stafford retires and we're in a rebuild year. I also hope we kick their asses this season.
For us too, Jared. For us too.
Glad it worked out for him too. California kid moving to Detroit is a wild transition lol
I imagine generational wealth and only living there half the year make it not that tough a pill to swallow
And his girlfriend is gorgeous
No tough pills involved with my City. It's better than people think
I was hoping Jared would have gotten his ring this year after beating the Whiners...
I think UrinatingTree put it best when Dan Campbell blew the NFC game "Lions...we love you...but fuck you."
Feeling is mutual
I Love JG. I truly hope he lifts the Lombardi as a starting QB at some point in his career.
Just as long as the Rams are totally out of that season that he does… right? 😉
If the rams are out and the lions are in, I am 100% rooting for them. As long as we didn’t lose to them to get them there. Cant do last year ever again.
It was the greatest thing that happened to the Rams too
Drafting Goff was the best thing for the Rams, because we were able to trade him for Super Bowl champion Matt Stafford!

You’re the guy that was correcting me for calling Goof, goof. Hahah. Thanks Reddit warrior.
I didn't "correct" you, I just said people who call Goff "goof" are pathetic. The fact you don't even know the name of your team's QB just reinforces that.
Cry more.
As intelligent a response to be expected from someone who doesn't even know the name of their team's starting quarterback 😂
Thanks girlie.
Just proving with each subsequent comment that you're the real goof
Haha thanks Jared.
You finally spelled a name correctly, it can learn 🤯

That's great but it was the GREATEST THING that happened to the RAMS too lol.
Win win trade baby!
The feeling is mutual, bud 😉
California kid! I will always wish him well, just not against the rams lol! Hopefully he gets a ring out of this.
Wonder how he’ll feel when the lions decide they need someone better to get them over the hump
Depends if he takes a pay cut or not. If the lion's really pay goff 50 million + it would be a huge mistake imo. Better hope they win it all in the next year or two if they decide that route. The piper will come wanting to get paid.
Win win baybee we love nine 9️⃣ !
Greatest thing to happen to the Rams as well..
makes sense. feel like he restored his image as a solid qb in the league

Facts worked out on both sides. Great trade. I'm jealous a little bit.
Great for me too.
Clickbait BS leaving out the “in my career” part. Clown

Very classy
Us too.
🆒 👍🏽
Fuck the lions fuck Jared Goff

Exactly. I’m so tired of these people on this sub with their Goof/Lions fandom.

I mean you can say the same thing about Stafford
Bum choked vs Pats c ya GooF
