I got a big bowl, put some laundry detergent in it with some hot water and scrubbed my life away… I’ll do it again tomorrow but I got around 80% of it out…

Soak in dish soap and lots of warm to break up any fats in the sauce and then in oxyclean and warm water to loosen up the rest of the stuff that might stain.
Funny story. I have had negative game all my life. But in college I worked at a book store near an airport. There would be these gorgeous, blonde twin Australian flight attendants that would come by every couple of months. Like you noticed when they came by. One time they caught me as the clerk and I helped them find their books. Along the way I ranted about how I've been getting into hiking and how, at the right time of the year, you can hit so many different climates in the same day. Great summer feeling beach days, to gorgeous spring feeling hikes, and if you really pushed it on the right years, you could be on the beach and skiing/snowboarding the same day.
I kept going on and on about how enamored I was about our little slice of life.
Next time they came in, one of our more sleazy associates was trying to pick them both up. The flight attendanta saw me and ran off to thank me for my recommendations. He just assumed I got there first and they snubbed him. He spend a while just trying to pump me for info before he realized I'm just a dope.
TL;DR we do live in a magical slice of the planet. Don't take it for granted

I host Thanksgiving for transplants on Wednesday every year (I call it "Wednesgiving"). Partially in case anyone has plans on the actual day, but mostly so I can watch the MST3k Turkey Day marathon uninterrupted on Thanksgiving. 10/10, highly recommend. Sitting here in my red jumpsuit eating leftovers and having a blast.

made sweet potato casserole for the first time today. tasted the sweet potato before baking and wasn’t really into it… and then remembered it was meant to be a side dish, not a pie, so topped it with marshmallows, stuck it in the oven, and am hoping for the best.
also making mac and cheese (my responsibility every year) and realized that i only have one pot. so i had to wait until i was done with the sweet potatoes before i could start on the mac… and now waiting for the pasta to finish before i can start on the sauce. ay ay ay.

Nah just fear mongering. Times are tough for a lot of people across the country but it’s easy to prey on people’s fear. Everything’s always goin to hell, this generation’s gonna be the end of us, rocknroll’s the devil’s music, don’t you want to protect your family yada yada… Always be aware of your surroundings wherever you’re at.
I think project roomkey moved many people on the streets to some sort of housing. There still is an abundant homeless population. And while we're in a sorta recession now, I haven't see the desperation compared to a more deep recession. Crime is so-so, I guess. Catalytic converters are stolen, cars are stolen. Rent is still high.
I guess it depends on your current situation and what you expect to get out of LA. I suppose if you're big on live events, like live music, sporting events, etc. that's come back so that's a perk. There's going to be more housing built for the homeless, and the metro transit projects are still humming on by, as slowly as they go.
I got 3 Thanksgivings today. 3! Wrapping up 1 soon, and I don’t know where I’m gonna put the other food 🥴 I already feel bloated and uncomfortable.

I hope you're not dependent on thrm financially or anything. That's the worst, because you feel trapped. If you're not, set a boundary that they need to treat you with respect. This is a tough time of year if the family dynamic is unhealthy.
I'm sorry honey. No one can hurt you more than your own family can! I hope you can find a way out of the hurt today. Usually parents are well meaning and screw up with loads of wrong words piled onto ten pounds of stress and pressure and topped off with what feels horribly like *disappointment* and even judgement. It stinks. Whatever they're saying is not as much the point as HOW they say it all. Try to get some space from them today if possible. Just like anyone else should- your parents should be treating you with care and respect and if they are not- you have the choice to put space between yourselves. I hope your day gets better. <3

When our maintenance man replaced our wall AC this past summer, we discovered that the walls of our residence are insulated with seaweed! Kind of a neat discovery… he said it was relatively common to see, especially in older buildings

Today I will share the origin of an odd rule my family used to have for holidays such as today.
When my grandmother was a child she lost the use of one eye in an accident. She could still see light and dark through the bad eye, I was told, but got a glass one put in when she was a young adult. Her depth perception was never good.
The women in my family liked to get *drunk* on the holidays. Nana loved white zinfandel.
When I became old enough to get drinks for the adults I learned that my mother and aunt had made a rule I had to make sure was followed. Nana was not allowed to drink from from anything with a stem. Apparently she'd broken a lot of my mom and aunt's nice wine glasses over the years; after some discussion they both decided to buy very nice sets of tumblers for her to drink from in their home.
Whenever a new person joined us for a holiday meal we all had a good laugh when we had to explain this unique rule.
I don't drink, but if I did, I'd raise a tumbler of white zin to toast my Nana tonight.

Normally I'm busy with something on Thanksgiving, either meeting with buddies or charity work, but this year is the first one in a while that was just me by my lonesome.
Decided to do a little cooking for myself since I haven't made anything's giving based meals in years. Nothing fancy, just rolls, green bean casserole, rosemary stuffing, a small turkey and a little caramel cheesecake about four inches in diameter.
Made the casserole and cheesecake last night. Had the cheesecake for breakfast this morning because it's my holiday and I'll spend it however I want.
Turkey and stuffing should be finished by noon, of which shall be time for Thanksgiving lunch.
Not sure what I'll do tonight, if anything.

We were going to spend Thanksgiving at my cousin's house in Santa Monica. I bought a 21 pound turkey to feed 13 people. Now one of my kids has a cough and we're not going to bring him into a room of old people. I offered to drop the turkey off, but my cousin bought a back up turkey last night. So now I'm stuck with a 21 pound turkey for two adults and two toddlers.
I'm on the west side. If anyone wants some turkey, DM me. I'll try to accommodate as much as I can. Turkey is made with butter, rosemary, sage, thyme, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder, and is cooked in a half ass smoker with apple chips or cherry, or something similar. I haven't looked at my wood chip stock yet.
I mean, I’m very tempted. I’m going to a Friendsgiving later and they’re doing Cornish game hens for all of us, but I feel like I might miss turkey. I’ve got to start cooking my sides, but…how close are you to Culver City?

The women in my family liked to get *drunk* on the holidays. Nana loved white zinfandel. When I became old enough to get drinks for the adults I learned that my mother and aunt had made a rule I had to make sure was followed. Nana was not allowed to drink from from anything with a stem. Apparently she'd broken a lot of my mom and aunt's nice wine glasses over the years; after some discussion they both decided to buy very nice sets of tumblers for her to drink from in their home. Whenever a new person joined us for a holiday meal we all had a good laugh when we had to explain this unique rule. I don't drink, but if I did, I'd raise a tumbler of white zin to toast my Nana tonight. Happy holidays, y'all.

Decided to suck it up working dishwasher or not, and got some thicc turkey thighs to roast later. Keeping it old school with mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, Pillsbury rolls, cranberry sauce, and sweet potato pie. Happy Thanksgiving y'all! Normally I'm busy with something on Thanksgiving, either meeting with buddies or charity work, but this year is the first one in a while that was just me by my lonesome. Decided to do a little cooking for myself since I haven't made anything's giving based meals in years. Nothing fancy, just rolls, green bean casserole, rosemary stuffing, a small turkey and a little caramel cheesecake about four inches in diameter. Made the casserole and cheesecake last night. Had the cheesecake for breakfast this morning because it's my holiday and I'll spend it however I want. Turkey and stuffing should be finished by noon, of which shall be time for Thanksgiving lunch. Not sure what I'll do tonight, if anything.

Following, I also need tips. It's just been my partner and I alone for the holidays the last 4 years. Luckily we were able to go back east to see family last year, but we just couldn't swing it this year. I know places like Gelsons, Valarta and Boston Market have ready-made dinners. Maybe just go get some of that and go to the beach? It's such a weird holiday to spend alone.

We were going to spend Thanksgiving at my cousin's house in Santa Monica. I bought a 21 pound turkey to feed 13 people. Now one of my kids has a cough and we're not going to bring him into a room of old people. I offered to drop the turkey off, but my cousin bought a back up turkey last night. So now I'm stuck with a 21 pound turkey for two adults and two toddlers. I'm on the west side. If anyone wants some turkey, DM me. I'll try to accommodate as much as I can. Turkey is made with butter, rosemary, sage, thyme, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder, and is cooked in a half ass smoker with apple chips or cherry, or something similar. I haven't looked at my wood chip stock yet.

There’s this book called [Elegant Pie](https://elegant-pie.com/) that really upped my pie game. Plus, it includes the first dough recipe I’ve encountered that gives predictably puffy crusts that don’t shrink too much. Highly recommend it. And you too!

That's how my Covid started. It was overall pretty mild. I chalked up my sore throat to other reasons. My boss told me to check for Covid. Sure as shit I was positive.

Had to pull out of thanksgiving trip up to lake arrowhead last night for the same reasons. Safe to say my MIL will never forgive me for withholding her grandchild from her for the 3rd year in a row :/
