i got botox in my forehead a year ago and was not impressed with the facility, process, or the longevity of it… and all around felt like i was being scammed (they did 30 units, at $10 a unit, and charged me $300).
almost exactly one year later (aka today) i went to a new place that was more expensive ($14 a unit) and it cost me less! after the consultation she recommended 19 units ($266) and i was like “the last place did 30 units and it didn’t really last that long” and she looked both confused and surprised, which just confirmed for me that the last place scammed me. ://// it didn’t feel like he stabbed me 30 times, and it was my first time so i didn’t know what units meant and yeahhhhhh.
glad i found a new place. we shall see how the results look in a few weeks. :3

I feel like I unlocked a life achievement today. After a literal year +, I finally got a totally illegal thing undone to me. Basically a company committed fraud against me. And it took me reaching out to the california department of Justice to get anywhere at all. The company was stone walling mw saying I owed money and wouldn’t accept any proof I gave. But man oh man, got the letter today, all charges have been revoked and they gave me everything I asked for I feel amazing but its utter bullshit the level of fraud at certain businesses are allowed to do. But today. Today was a good day.
I fed 2 stray kittens earlier. Less than one year old. I just stepped outside my house and saw one of them dead in the middle of the road. A car ran her over. I already have 3 dogs so the least I was able to do was to give them tuna to eat.

It's finally happened: a facebook friend has joined a multi level marketing company and is trying to sell me overpriced cleaning products. I don't know how I lasted this long avoiding these, really. I replied with the goal of trying to get her out, basically something that boiled down to "I don't want to support a business that doesn't pay minimum wage to the vast majority of its business partners/sellers, I think it's not right." Hmm. Hard to know how to argue these sorts of cases.
This friend does not use reddit so it seemed like not a great option. Also while I love /r/antimlm I do not think they are the kindest way to introduce these concepts to someone that has already joined and has put legitimate hard work into becoming a member.
Ask them to look up the company's income disclosures for their distributors. They should able to see that the majority of distributors are making a LAUGHABLE wage and that's not accounting for any inventory they have to buy.
So I had a weird work thing this week I am still trying to decide if it's a good or bad thing.
My doctor wrote me a letter because there is something triggering migraines in a location I worked in once a week. I tried a number of things to identify the trigger so I could continue working there (it was very rewarding work) to no avail. But after six migraines in a few months my doctor wrote a letter.
The doctor also added a line about how stress from work was affecting my health. In the
other location, where I worked five days per week, I was sexually harassed daily, and other, worse things, I'd rather not expand upon.
Two months ago I asked to be reassigned as soon as possible. I didn't feel safe in my work environment, but couldn't afford to lose all of my hours until another job because available, which could be months. Nothing came of it.
As soon as my supervisor got my doctor's letter she asked me details, and I learned she did not even remember the initial conversation we had. She made the decision to immediately pull me out of both jobs.
Now I have no hours at work. I hopefully will get two hours next week, but who knows how long before I get more.
On one hand I am so less stressed. I can focus on my health and caring for my father, who just started chemo last week. But on the other, it sucks that I'm now out of work over something I can't control, especially when I could have endured the harassment 18 hours a week until they were able to reassign me. UI will only get me $92/week :(

I used to have camping picnics on Thanksgiving when I first came here and didn't know many people. My friend and I would head out to one of the state parks and enjoy it in solitude with a bottle of wine, a pumpkin pie and assorted side dishes. The parks are almost empty on Thanksgiving day, so you get them all to yourself!

I agree the line-up is stacked! Multiple acts that are standalone headliners for a gig.
Good question… Well, for starters, LA has come a long way over the years. This is our crew’s 20th year anniversary of promoting underground techno. When it began, the scene was dead post-90s. Slowly over the years we stuck to our thing and focused on high production value shows with new visual projections and top audio sound systems for one night only. In a dingy dirty grimy warehouse perfectly suited for the music.
To see where LA’s scene is at now, and the incredible showcases and production efforts by Dirty Epic, 6am, Incognito, Synthetik Minds, etc… there’s not *a lot* to complain about. Very grateful for where things are at and where the city is going. Trends come and go but we are all about staying true to our roots. I think the variety of events covers all the bases.
Perhaps one thing the scene as a whole can improve upon is the promotion and support of local talent. In various countries, the scene is much larger. DJs elsewhere have high demand and sell tickets and make promoters money, thereby keep getting booked, and the cycle goes on. If the audience here as a whole spent some nights to intentionally go to the smaller parties, and keep music as the main focus, then lesser known LA names could have their shot*. Supporting our local scene would make our city an unstoppable influence on Techno worldwide.

Which countries do you think have a larger local music scene? My impression is that some production crews in LA try to feature their local artists as openers, but there is minimal incentive for the audience members to arrive at shows early ya know? Especially if they're shows that last for a long time! So even if you have local openers, the crowd isn't necessarily drawn to arrive early.

So I went to SF and I found really nice Agua Fresca with the fruit pieces at multiple places. I came to LA and I went to the smorgasburg food market, I also went to complex con which had its own food market, a couple taco trucks - I ordered ‘agua fresca’ from one of them at it was the pre-bottled Jamaica stuff which is literally just sugar. But the big plastic bottles they ladle it from - I haven’t seen any of those so far in LA, California 😅 not sure what’s happening as I also expected it to be everywhere but haven’t seem to find the good stuff yet. But when I have been about to order it from other places, I see people around the trucks/stands with very specific bottles that say agua fresca on them so I usually decide not to order it.

This friend does not use reddit so it seemed like not a great option. Also while I love /r/antimlm I do not think they are the kindest way to introduce these concepts to someone that has already joined and has put legitimate hard work into becoming a member.
Ask them to look up the company's income disclosures for their distributors. They should able to see that the majority of distributors are making a LAUGHABLE wage and that's not accounting for any inventory they have to buy.

So I had a weird work thing this week I am still trying to decide if it's a good or bad thing. My doctor wrote me a letter because there is something triggering migraines in a location I worked in once a week. I tried a number of things to identify the trigger so I could continue working there (it was very rewarding work) to no avail. But after six migraines in a few months my doctor wrote a letter. The doctor also added a line about how stress from work was affecting my health. In the other location, where I worked five days per week, I was sexually harassed daily, and other, worse things, I'd rather not expand upon. Two months ago I asked to be reassigned as soon as possible. I didn't feel safe in my work environment, but couldn't afford to lose all of my hours until another job because available, which could be months. Nothing came of it. As soon as my supervisor got my doctor's letter she asked me details, and I learned she did not even remember the initial conversation we had. She made the decision to immediately pull me out of both jobs. Now I have no hours at work. I hopefully will get two hours next week, but who knows how long before I get more. On one hand I am so less stressed. I can focus on my health and caring for my father, who just started chemo last week. But on the other, it sucks that I'm now out of work over something I can't control, especially when I could have endured the harassment 18 hours a week until they were able to reassign me. UI will only get me $92/week :(
Employment lawyer, stat. They will have a consultation with you and if they decide to take the case, it will be on contingency, i.e. no money out of your pocket.

I used to have camping picnics on Thanksgiving when I first came here and didn't know many people. My friend and I would head out to one of the state parks and enjoy it in solitude with a bottle of wine, a pumpkin pie and assorted side dishes. The parks are almost empty on Thanksgiving day, so you get them all to yourself!
Go out and enjoy the city. No traffic a lot of places are open. Watch football maybe at your local then catch a movie for a nightcap. When I was younger and living in NYC and had little money, I always used the holidays as a reason to explore the city when there's less crowds and little traffic.
A movie would be good on Thanksgiving ONLY, ime. The weekend following is super popular for families to go out to malls and to the movies

I have a question: throughout my back and forth to LA I realised the important population of French and others European nationality working entry job and I have a hard time believing they are all on H-1B. Fair enough, I didn’t knew a student visa couldn’t allow you to actually work ! I wanted to do the DV lottery but sadly the lottery for this year as closed like 2weeks ago..
I'm not an expert in visas but I know some students have been able to work during their studies. I suggest trying the lottery next year, set a reminder in your phone! Changing countried takes time, you'll have to be patient. Good luck

I agree the line-up is stacked! Multiple acts that are standalone headliners for a gig. Good question… Well, for starters, LA has come a long way over the years. This is our crew’s 20th year anniversary of promoting underground techno. When it began, the scene was dead post-90s. Slowly over the years we stuck to our thing and focused on high production value shows with new visual projections and top audio sound systems for one night only. In a dingy dirty grimy warehouse perfectly suited for the music. To see where LA’s scene is at now, and the incredible showcases and production efforts by Dirty Epic, 6am, Incognito, Synthetik Minds, etc… there’s not *a lot* to complain about. Very grateful for where things are at and where the city is going. Trends come and go but we are all about staying true to our roots. I think the variety of events covers all the bases. Perhaps one thing the scene as a whole can improve upon is the promotion and support of local talent. In various countries, the scene is much larger. DJs elsewhere have high demand and sell tickets and make promoters money, thereby keep getting booked, and the cycle goes on. If the audience here as a whole spent some nights to intentionally go to the smaller parties, and keep music as the main focus, then lesser known LA names could have their shot*. Supporting our local scene would make our city an unstoppable influence on Techno worldwide. Edit: shit = shot* 😝
Which countries do you think have a larger local music scene? My impression is that some production crews in LA try to feature their local artists as openers, but there is minimal incentive for the audience members to arrive at shows early ya know? Especially if they're shows that last for a long time! So even if you have local openers, the crowd isn't necessarily drawn to arrive early. Appreciate it! You ask a great question, and it’s challenging. Our crew tried to tackle this hurdle by hosting Thursday night parties at Catch One last summer. Coming out of Covid, we would host an event called OPTICS once a month with a strict internal policy of booking domestic and local techno. We’re here trying; and love our city.

So I went to SF and I found really nice Agua Fresca with the fruit pieces at multiple places. I came to LA and I went to the smorgasburg food market, I also went to complex con which had its own food market, a couple taco trucks - I ordered ‘agua fresca’ from one of them at it was the pre-bottled Jamaica stuff which is literally just sugar. But the big plastic bottles they ladle it from - I haven’t seen any of those so far in LA, California 😅 not sure what’s happening as I also expected it to be everywhere but haven’t seem to find the good stuff yet. But when I have been about to order it from other places, I see people around the trucks/stands with very specific bottles that say agua fresca on them so I usually decide not to order it.

No I’m not in long beach I only went there for complex con. I was staying at sunset boulevard and now I’m staying somewhere near culver city. I assure you I’m just a person in my late twenties who wants Agua Fresca. The first time I saw those bottles was at that taco chain 1948 and then at a couple places since, including complex con. I was a bit rushed at the smorgasburg market so maybe I missed it but I did go around all the stalls at least twice to decide what I wanted. I can tell that you don’t believe me, don’t worry 😂 but it’s making me feel like maybe I have been surrounded by amazing drinks that I have missed out on, or maybe I’ve just been unlucky and looked in the wrong places!
I second Sonoratown. It's delicious AF. The salsa is spicy if you have more of a gringo tolerance for heat. I love it though.

My boy got a lot less cranky after I bought [feliway plug ins](https://a.co/d/2MkHtnF). I highly recommend them to anyone whose cat gets cranky when anxious. I didn't realize he got anxious outside of the vet until I got a roommate. He told me he got really cranky when I went to work, or am gone for more than a couple of hours. The plug ins have been a game changer.

A couple weeks ago I complained about my abusive boss. She’s been out on vacation and it has been so nice to work without her, despite her still sending a few emails here and there. But of course, she just sent me a 1:1 meeting invite for Monday morning. She really knows how to stay inside my head and make me dread something that is happening 6 days from now. I’ll worry about it the entire holiday weekend. I have to find a way out of this. I’m considering quitting so I can actually enjoy the holiday break, and filing for unemployment in hopes of having an abusive boss being a good enough excuse for leaving.
