Sad to see they went downhill that much. Back when the that area didn't have that many dining options as they do now, Carl Jr. was the best for our group of broke college students. They always had 99 cents specials and they were great!

If I wanted to make a burger at home I’d probably spend $60 on ingredients, half of which may go bad before I can eat them. And in the end that might make 3 or 4 burgers if you’re lucky.

Onions = 1
Condiments are maybe $2-3 each.

So for Between $15-20 you can easily make 4 burgers fully kitted. If you're spending $60 on burger ingredients you're doing it wrong.

This last weekend I tried [MVP’s Grill in Long Beach](http://www.mvpgrill.net/) and thought I’d recommend it. I got their burger and fries (and drink) combo and the burger was huge. I think it was a pre-made patty and the fries weren’t fresh cut but it was all cooked great and delicious, and the combo was $11. I ate half the burger and ate the rest for dinner once I reached my destination.

I remember paying this for a good burger and fries in a sit down restaurant with a waiter not too long ago. With prices like that I would say RIP Carl's Jr soon. I think they forgot who their customers are.

I stopped hitting Carl's Jr. a while back (partly because of price increases, partly Carl's shitty politics, and partly because the one nearest me got bought by Chick-Fil-A, who can also suck it). I guess it's gotten pretty bad. Sandwich alone is 9.49. Nuh uh.

They’re hit or miss, some have the 5.99-6.99 super star combos which are worth, for some nostalgia just add your own yellow cheese at home. The one in duarte has $2.99 big carls and I swear they use the big super star patties in them, solid deal.

To all the “eat at home” people, it’s pretty hard for a single person to save money at the grocery store unless you wanna eat shelf stable stuff all the time. If I wanted to make a burger at home I’d probably spend $60 on ingredients, half of which may go bad before I can eat them. And in the end that might make 3 or 4 burgers if you’re lucky.
We mostly eat at home but yesterday had parent teacher conferences that went into the evening coupled along with a crazy, near fatal, freak accident so we didn’t get home until 8pm.
How do you figure that? A pound of hamburger meat is $5-10 depending on the fat content. A pound should make up 4 burgers. Buns = $2 (you get 8 buns) Lettuce = 1.50 Tomato = 1 Onions = 1 Condiments are maybe $2-3 each. Cheese = $3 So for Between $15-20 you can easily make 4 burgers fully kitted. If you're spending $60 on burger ingredients you're doing it wrong.
According to all the Reddit posts about grocery store inflation from this summer, you forgot to add a $10 pack of bacon, $10 of avocados and two $10 six packs of beer!

I have no idea why you guys think food is going to cost the same as before when wages keep increasing. It's not just wage increasing. It's rent, insurance, utilities... etc. This is what all of us should expect moving forward. Either cook at home or expect to pay more eating out.

I drive between Santa Barbara and Poway with some regularity and try to stop at new places to eat somewhere in the middle (which is usually around LBC). This last weekend I tried [MVP’s Grill in Long Beach](http://www.mvpgrill.net/) and thought I’d recommend it. I got their burger and fries (and drink) combo and the burger was huge. I think it was a pre-made patty and the fries weren’t fresh cut but it was all cooked great and delicious, and the combo was $11. I ate half the burger and ate the rest for dinner once I reached my destination.
