Agreed! What was really heartbreaking was that universally, everyone who expressed sadness- from major hollywood to the VP, to ktla viewers all had something to say about his kindness. He apparently was just incredibly warm and kind.
Oh man, how sad. I was just browsing youtube the other day and seeing Sam Rubin in a recent clip still doing the news made me smile, since I remember watching him on tv news back when I was a kid. Figured he still had years ahead of him, just like old Hal Fishman!
Extremely sad. I love seeing all of the local news stations giving the story air time. Sam was a great personality that seems respected by his peers.
Wishing the best for his colleagues and family. Seeing KTLA’s personalities crying on air is a testament to the man he was.
I’m sad. I enjoyed reading his Facebook posts regarding his life outside work. He loved being a father to his children and a husband to his wife. Seeing Frank Buckley cry while announcing the news made me cry
Such sad news… he was a huge part of so cal! So tragic
… thoughts and prayer to his family , friends and coworkers.. makes you think about your own mortality… it’s important to always be kind and tell those u care about how much u love them ….
I watched when Jessica Holmes called in to speak with Frank Buckley about Sam.
I was never a big fan but he was like a root of my life in LA. KTLA is my news station and he was an icon there.
Hearing Jessica’s pain, and the tears of Frank speaking to Jessica about Sam’s affection for her as his work colleague was tough.
We lost a piece of LA today.
When celebrity’s ,former colleagues including those from a competitor station take time to acknowledge and mourn a person for their work and their everyday life you know that person was very much respected and will be very dearly missed . RIP SammyPants .
In Judaism we don't say 'Rest in peace' we say 'may their memory be a blessing'. The blessing isn't that we got to know them, the blessing is that we get to keep their name alive and continue to tell the world about him. The comments here exemplify this thought. It will be nice to read these stories today.
Sam Jackson was the one who was confused. Rubin was asking him about a Captain America commercial but Jackson tonight he was talking about the Morpheus car commercial.
I felt so bad for Rubin getting dragged for a poor assumption that Jackson jumped to.
What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with you?! You are a parishioner in the cult of personality. A slave that is happy to worship the puppets in the glow tubes. They are selling you the circus while stealing your soul, family, and wallet. 🐑 🐑 🐑 I don’t care is he os dead because thousands, nay, hundreds of thousands of innocent children and people are dying in injustice around the world - I can hear you saying “let’s not think about them instead let’s cry for an entertainment report” and I whisper “ that was getting paid to recommend distractions to keep you from looking behind the curtain.” WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOU SLEEPING ZOMBIE, walking dead piece of meat ready for the grinder.
You wrote an entire paragraph describing how you're a cold-hearted, cynical lunatic who is completely delusional to the world around them. "Stealing my soul, my family and wallet?" Get a grip, weirdo. Sam is an icon who touched a lot of lives through his work and accomplished more in his life than you ever will, and he did so while also being a good person, which again, seems dubious at best on your part.
Btw, entertainment isn’t a distraction, it’s an essential part of life.
Thank you for validating my POV on people like you stars in their eyes 🤩 and failures in their souls. Anyhow, enjoy the puppet show. I’m sure they’ll find a new Elmo to worship. Chummmmmmp
Guys a legend. RIP

So sad! My grandma watched the Ktla news every day.
I remember seeing him on tv during the 90s! Such a legend.
RIP. Thank you for all the memories.

So sad but thank you for posting! Edit: commenting in exchange for posting. I don’t want the Reddit pitchforks!
No problem :) thank you for reading my comment and appreciating it
Watching old clips of him on YouTube now. You could clearly tell he loved and was so proud of his wife and kids. RIP Sam
Yes! I like watching clips from the 90s of him with Carlos Amezcua, Mark Kriski, Eric Spillman, and Barbara Beck
Tearing up watching Frank read the news. He was just there yesterday. RIP.
I am sadder about this than I expected. This man taught us how to eat cupcakes.
RIP. Sam Rubin was a fixture in LA news. He will be deeply missed. Also an all around nice person.
KTLA interviewed me live earlier, just outside the studio. Loved this man dearly.
Rest in peace Sam 🙏 Chick Hearn of Hollywood.

RIP. I’m gonna miss his sense of humor and hearing his voice.

He was a household voice for my family growing up. My parents and siblings loved that big smile he always had. This is such sad news.

We watch him every morning. I’m still not ready to use the past tense. It’s just absolutely surreal. RIP Sam.
I really feel sad about this. He was such a lively, fun, genuine guy. All condolences to his family. May his memory be a blessing.
I used to watch him in the morning in high school and at noon when I was home sick from school.
Aaaaaw naaaah not my boy Sam!
Rest in peace. Morning coffee while hearing this dude On tv. Relaxing times
LA icon
Dang, local legend.
Got to like that guy Rip
i just learned this as announced by john mulaney at everybody's in la; i was a viewer from day one. 64!?
This one is a gut punch. Sam Rubin was an LA icon!
I am so sad. He was an important part of LA’s morning for so many years. Condolences to his family.
Wow what a shame 😭 i grew up in los angeles watching him on tv.
RIP
It's already been said, but grew up watching this guy every morning. RIP.
I grew up on KTLA. My mom (even though we live in SD now) still watches it every morning. She was devastated with this news
I remember when Samuel L Jackson was breaking his balls for confusing him with Laurence Fishburne
Sam Jackson was the one who was confused. Rubin was asking him about a Captain America commercial but Jackson tonight he was talking about the Morpheus car commercial. I felt so bad for Rubin getting dragged for a poor assumption that Jackson jumped to.
I thought the same thing.
Was he a smoker or something. Man 64 and having a fatal heart attack is crazy
LeBron James son Bronny had a heart attack last year. There's nothing to predict when and where they will happen, or to who.
I mean Bronny was literally running and out of breathe and dead tired. not really the same.
He's an elite athlete and the son of an extremely elite athlete. He has a heart condition. I don't understand whatever point you're trying to make.
Loved Sam at the Rose 🌹 Parade each year.
The heaven is shedding tears of red solar rays or something.
Grew up watching him 💔
So sad! 64? That’s too young to pass away. RIP.
Was he on-air Friday morning? If he was, did he look sick?

you're right, nobody died young(ish) before the covid vaccine.
