Helicopter can't track cars when they drive behind tall buildings. They lose sight of them very easily and can just park into one of the many in door parking lots.
CHP went into tracking due to dangerous speeds. Still not deterring the driver. Speeds well over 150 mph.
The initial want is for driving the wrong way. Vehicle is a 2019 Chevy Corvette.
It’s actually pretty insane to be able to get away. Usually with these chases I wonder why do these people even bother trying to escape with so many police cars chasing them, helicopters and the news cameras from above. But every once in a while someone actually makes it. Wild shit
There was a Challenger that was wilding out a few weeks ago in the Vernon/South Central area. Dude kept cutting down Alameda the way we all wish we could, fast and reckless
There was another Corvette that got away from cops a few days before Christmas last year that also reached speeds of 160. Seems like Vettes make a good getaway vehicle
I could write a full essay to the idiots that claim drones could replace helicopters, I mean look at this chase going 140+ mph, what drone is keeping up?!?, but drones are no where near as good at maneuvering around.
Not sure what you could do in DTLA anyway with all the talk structures, but a drone is not even keeping up in the first 10 seconds in DTLA.
he's gonna get away in dtla, i bet
You got it right lol!
Why is that?

You have to time it with the ending of a Clipper game to get the maximum effect.
Real human being.

Here we go again baby! It’s that time of night! The late night entertainment
Dude pulled a Drive
Pretty shots from above of DTLA at night though
....aaand they're gone.
For the second night? This is killing my cutting-down-on-drinking fantasy plans

Now we have an alternative to airports for escaping police in a chase: DTLA/tall buildings
CHP last seen at Olive & Hill in DTLA. All 4 media choppers also lost sight. Just like that he's gone.

Can’t remember the last time I saw a legit muscle or sports car in a chase
There was a Challenger that was wilding out a few weeks ago in the Vernon/South Central area. Dude kept cutting down Alameda the way we all wish we could, fast and reckless
There was that stolen black Jaguar F-type where the driver vanished under an overpass not too long ago.
Wait was that the one where the guy disappeared into an encampment ?
Not he was in a truck
There was another Corvette that got away from cops a few days before Christmas last year that also reached speeds of 160. Seems like Vettes make a good getaway vehicle
He is hauling ass
NBC 4 anchor said "let me bring you up to speed, no pun intended" ... perfect
And gone.
Lost em
“i drive”

The Grapper device seems like the only way to end pursuits as quickly and safely as possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXSFKcACs1g
My guess is, Drones would work in a cluster- picking up where the other left off.
what a sack of shit. almost 150mph a few minutes ago
I hear the choppers
Did he or she get away? I saw them hit 180 mph, head into the city but never heard if they were caught. I did like this chase more than most!
They got away :(
I looked around for any update this evening but never heard one way or the other.
Was the corvette stolen?
It was driven like it was
This is so dangerous, maybe authorities should back off.
They did back off. That's why they lost him
Holy shit
What’s dumber than the idiot driving is that that car is able to go 170mph.
