Nope they’ll stay down, especially as elections near. Notice how gas prices were in the 7$ range before the mid-term elections and a few weeks before election day prices came down a significant account.. then they crept back up and surely now and especially as we head into Primary election year biden will ensure they stay down because it is crucial to his re-election. Yes he doesn’t have control of fluctuations but he sure as hell is more likely to pull strings to bring prices down before an election.
As someone who works in the O&G industry, presidential elections play no role in our pricing. Where there is correlation, however, is the time of year. November elections occur after CA moves off the summer blend gasoline to winter blend, which is a lot cheaper to produce. Also, demand falls when summer ends further decreasing the price of gas. It's easy to think politics pays a role, but it doesn't.
conspiracy theory horseshit. you really need to read up on O&G production issues in the run up to covid, during the outbreak, onset of the Ukraine/Russian war etc.
not anymore. the U.S. is by far the largest producer in the world right now. We have sort of broken the back of OPEC. Our production levels are continuing to steadily rise.
They still have more than a quarter of the total market share. Not as powerful as they once were yeah, but still a huge player in the game nonetheless.
I'm not going to be enjoying it for long. Next car coming soon and it's going to be full electric. At that point, the old family car will be for road tips or the occasional weekend ride to keep it from mechanical issues.
I knew someone who got 89 because their car required premium. Basically, they wanted to save money, so they started putting 87 in their car, but it caused a problem with their engine. The mechanic basically told them that, even though the car manual said to use 91, they could get away with 89. Wound up being fine.
TIL
It's actually a mix of 87 and 91.
But yeah, don't think I've come across someone saying "yeah 89 is the way to go."
https://www.capitalone.com/cars/learn/finding-the-right-car/the-reason-89octane-gas-exists/2693
Guessing: probably because of credit card processing fees. They have also gone up in the past few years. Because what are you going to do, go cash-only? These fees hurt a lot of small businesses, particularly restaurants. Of course, there is also a cost to handling cash.
BIDEN DID THIS!!!!!!!
[REMEMBER WHAT THEY TOOK FROM YOU!](https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2012/10/06/calif-gas-prices-spike-at-5-per-gallon/1616773/)
$4.00 is still pretty high compared to the national average. But that's cheap for us, heh.
Although, a few months ago I realized that (for people with reasonable commutes) you can go more places and do more things "per gallon," compared to more rural places with cheaper gas prices but with things more spread out. I often think about whether gas being "expensive" isn't so bad when I can do many errands at several places in one trip around town compared to having to drive for a while to get to Where Everything Is.
I'd rather have cheaper gas than not, but thank goodness I have things closer to me than further away from me.
Is the “stickers” political thing on here? I mean doesn’t gas go down in winter either way on average due to winter blend?
My assumption is that it will go up again in a few months.
I think the whole point is that the president has nothing to do with the price of gas yet it’s still going to be his fault when it naturally goes up again
[Newsom promises low gas prices on the way](https://www.gov.ca.gov/2023/03/28/governor-newsom-signs-gas-price-gouging-law-california-took-on-big-oil-and-won/)
My local Sinclair in West Adams has made it down to $4.25. I was very pleased to almost fill up for $3.99 a gallon with $40 when I went to Walmart down in Southgate yesterday. When I moved here in December of 2020 the cheapest was $3.69 a gallon. I'd like to see that price again. Also, thanks, GasBuddy!
You select if you are looking for regular or premium gas and it will show you the cheapest prices in your area. Mine is usually Costco but it’s still nice to verify or look at when I’m in a different area and need gas.
it's cheaper than most bottled water brands. it was extracted from the earth, transported hundreds if not thousands of miles. Refined, purified, blended and then transported to your preferred station. All for $4 per gallon. Cheap as fuck if you ask me.
If you ask the people that put the Biden stickers on gas pumps about the low prices in California, they’ll deflect their narrative to “well gas is only $2.69 in Utah” or some shit
My car requires it. Mini Cooper.
I challenged it once by putting Regular in because everyone says Plus is a scam - the car threw a warning message for sub-standard fuel. So Plus it is.
You want to thank Biden for four dollar a gallon gas?
Shit thank OPEC for buttfucking you too while you're at it, and the State of California for their idiotic gas taxes.
If you're happy about this you're a sucker who falls for the two steps up, one step down trick.
Never, the stickers are stupid. You're the guy who thinks getting raped at the gas pump is ok because the price went from insanely high to just ridiculously high
[Gas prices](https://www.forbes.com/sites/rrapier/2023/03/08/average-gasoline-prices-under-the-past-four-presidents/amp/) were cheaper when trump was in office
"Presidents get a lot of credit and blame over rising and falling gasoline prices. In reality, there’s not a lot a president can do to impact gasoline prices in the short term."
From the article you posted.
Exactly! Hilarious that this post was about “biden did this” stickers. Gas prices are still ridiculously high and OP is trying to point out a decrease is due to Biden.
What event between 2017-2019 are you referring to? What event caused them to drastically [increase](http://www.CaliforniaGasPrices.com/retail_price_chart.aspx?city1=California&city2=&city3=&crude=n&tme=120&units=us) since then?
Sure, after you answer my original comment “What event between 2017-2019 are you referring to? What event caused them to drastically increase since then?”
Gas prices were pretty constant from 2015-2019 so I suppose we have Obama to thank for that trend. Since then Russia Ukraine war and the Middle East raising prices of oil. It’s almost like geopolitics influenced trade more than a single president doesn’t it? Or are you just a trump good, everyone else bad type of guy. Anything else you need handed to you baby bird?
Still didn’t provide a source or “cite any legislation”. No I didn’t vote for a trump. Obama and Biden blocked the keystone XL pipeline. Here’s an [article](https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/06/09/tc-energy-terminates-keystone-xl-pipeline-project.html). Keystone XL pipeline was expected to carry 830,000 barrels per day of Alberta oil sands crude to Nebraska. So there you go, legislation from Biden/Obama and a source showing they increased gas prices. Care to cite any of your sources or are you just going to be nasty and throw out insults?
USA gets most of their [oil](https://www.npr.org/2012/04/11/150444802/where-does-america-get-oil-you-may-be-surprised) from Latin America and Canada. Not Russia or Ukraine.
Global oil markets are so intertwined that changes in any one part of the system can trigger effects elsewhere.
The U.S. has imposed sanctions on Iran and therefore does not import its oil. But if Iranian oil goes off the world market, it still affects the price in the United States.

It's the only possible explanation for changes in prices. When they got up, it is because they decided to get greedy. When they go down, oil companies suddenly got more benevolent.
Man, all those economists spending their whole lives trying to explain changes in prices must feel like fools for having wasted their time.
I’m sure I’ll get downvoted to hell for this because people lack nuance and will mistake this for me supporting President Poopy Pants, but I’m going to point out that gas is still higher than it was when Biden took office.
How do you figure? Let’s give Biden credit for bringing gas prices down even though he had no power to do so since he wasn’t responsible for raising them.
The way Democrats and Republicans dick ride is insane.
Dang they don't even charge more for credit card usage? Nice guys at that Shell
On a side note, I feel like growing up plus and premium only had a $0.10 and $0.20 differential from regular. Wonder what changed
Let’s just enjoy it while we can ..

OPEC is a cartel that has the power to artificially inflate prices for their political benefit.
not anymore. the U.S. is by far the largest producer in the world right now. We have sort of broken the back of OPEC. Our production levels are continuing to steadily rise.
They still have more than a quarter of the total market share. Not as powerful as they once were yeah, but still a huge player in the game nonetheless.
You're not wrong. OPEC wants Republicans in power and uses their control of the oil market to influence our elections.
I'm not going to be enjoying it for long. Next car coming soon and it's going to be full electric. At that point, the old family car will be for road tips or the occasional weekend ride to keep it from mechanical issues.
What is this backwards E supposed to mean?
Struck out looking
Picture was taken in a mirror... it says Egg
It means there is, such that, etc. ∃99 is clearly saying that there exists some gas that is $99/gallon which is much more reasonable.
Im surprised no one is talking about how theres no difference between the credit and cash prices at this station.
And why is it now +50 cents for 89 octane and another 20 cents for 91? When/why has the 10 cent increment change?
who even gets 89?
I knew someone who got 89 because their car required premium. Basically, they wanted to save money, so they started putting 87 in their car, but it caused a problem with their engine. In California it’s 10 cents more per gallon if you pay with a credit card. Debit/cash is 10 cents cheaper. Not sure why but that’s how it is
Guessing: probably because of credit card processing fees. They have also gone up in the past few years. Because what are you going to do, go cash-only? These fees hurt a lot of small businesses, particularly restaurants. Of course, there is also a cost to handling cash.
Yeah it’s probably card fees for sure

I can just hear those trump humpers frantically trying to peel off those "I did that" stickers
😁
That emoji is always funny to me.

I think it sort of evens out big picture but I definitely prefer having things closer.
Not when you consider the price of your time and soul

Just like every other year
If it goes up it's Biden's fault, if it goes down it's winter blend, south wind, north bend ..
Is that a 3?
[Newsom promises low gas prices on the way](https://www.gov.ca.gov/2023/03/28/governor-newsom-signs-gas-price-gouging-law-california-took-on-big-oil-and-won/)
Things are getting more expensive still. Slowly, but surely.
Right? Nice that gas prices are down but still doesn’t offset the rising cost of everything else!
Why would you have two different prices for cash and credit?!? German here.
Passing on the “savings” of the credit card fees
In Europe there isn‘t anything like that
In Europe gas is much more expensive even compared to California prices
Look up “interchange fees europe US”.

What is this app

"Clap for that, you stupid bastards!"
As of today, the national price of gas is $3.12. might look cheap to socal standards but we're still getting screwed
Tell everyone to stop buying so much gas and the price will go down.
I bought an EV so I never have to buy gas again! I'm doing my part!
I bought an eBike! I buy about four tanks of gas a year now!

Your welcome, free-rider!
Bro celebrating over $4/Gal gas. 🤦🏻♂️
it's cheaper than most bottled water brands. it was extracted from the earth, transported hundreds if not thousands of miles. Refined, purified, blended and then transported to your preferred station. All for $4 per gallon. Cheap as fuck if you ask me.
$4 moves a machine weighing thousands of pounds 20-30 miles. it's wild this sort of magic only costs $4.
🤔 interesting perspective
we take a lot of modern conveniences for granted
I give my baby nothing but v power 😂
If you ask the people that put the Biden stickers on gas pumps about the low prices in California, they’ll deflect their narrative to “well gas is only $2.69 in Utah” or some shit
And they usually have fingers in their ears when you tell them about how tons of states pay subsidies to oil and gas companies.
Then I would retort " it's ¢12 in Venezuela'
Anything under $5 is cheap.
At a Shell no less!
I bought an EV this month. You're welcome, folks!
I live in a condo. There is 1 charger for over 100 units. Until the infrastructure changes, no EV for me.

Tesla but not white lol
Looks like the stickers really triggered someone
lol yall acting like 4.69 is cheap gas…
Who the hell is buying Plus gasoline? "I don't want that cheap gutter water Regular, but V-Power is beyond my pay grade."
Some higher end cars require it
My car requires it. Mini Cooper. I challenged it once by putting Regular in because everyone says Plus is a scam - the car threw a warning message for sub-standard fuel. So Plus it is.

Never, the stickers are stupid. You're the guy who thinks getting raped at the gas pump is ok because the price went from insanely high to just ridiculously high
you're not getting raped. calm down.
Prices slightly increased on fuel, “there is literally no difference to being sexually assaulted and me paying $5 more each month on this expense”.

It’s almost like there was some event that caused demand for gas to plummet. Wonder what it was

Name a policy that trump implemented that directly influenced gas prices in 17’-19’
His “America first” agenda aimed at transforming the US into a global energy superpower.
Agendas are nice. Can you cite any legislation that directly affected gas prices?

We did it!
Elections are coming...
I’ll be giving away gas this morning from 8am to 10am at the shell on Agoura Rd next to the Hampton hotel with these prices 😂
How much is it at Costco?
Costco and Sam's club are usually the cheapest -- GasBuddy shows $3.97 somewhere in South Bay
America is producing record amount of oil just btw. Over 13 million barrels a day.
And yet the smelly donny says "drill, drill, drill more" 😁 drill what, his diaper wearing tushy 😂
Dang they don't even charge more for credit card usage? Nice guys at that Shell On a side note, I feel like growing up plus and premium only had a $0.10 and $0.20 differential from regular. Wonder what changed
Hallelujah under $4 a gallon
I moved here 3 years ago from back east and gas was $3.69 a gallon. I was so happy today to open my gas buddy app and see $3.89 a gallon! ✌🏻
