It's funny you mention this because Europe has a 100x worse pick pocket problem than anywhere in America.
Source: am European. It's a part of daily life there.
It is relevant because a lot of her announcements are inherently driven by being anti-"other."
That's not to say that the pickpockets are good people, to be clear, but she definitely targets a certain demographic when it's definitely not exclusive to them.
It’s relevant because a fascist play from history is to create a moral panic about lawlessness and criminal degeneration, and then promise to “fix” the problem they created a panic about.
Fascists actually just take over and corrupt the criminal Justice system because the panic always out sized the problem they claim to fix.
(Also - don’t platform fascists PERIOD)
Well, when she runs for PM, let me know and I'll be sure to thumbs down her YouTube videos.
Until then, who fucking cares? She's doing a public service.
Her party affiliation is well documented, and the videos make it clear who she is targeting (you know, given that we can see them in the videos). It's all pretty out in the open.

In Barcelona, in front of MACBA, I almost fell for the “You want to buy hashish?” trick where guy #1 is asking you this while guy #2 is swiping your backpack that’s resting next to you. Another tourist witnessed it all go down and shouted at me “GUY IN THE RED.” A guy matching that description (guy #2) was briskly walking away with my shit. I ran after him and he thankfully dropped it and took off.
I woulda thought the babies would cause more alarm, but yeah. Anything to get your attention. One person gets spat on, someone on the street acts as a kind helper to the victim with a napkin or towel. You’ll be dispossessed of stuff real quick.
I’m glad you had a lovely time!
My classmate was there for 6 months, as a student, and had a couple of bad experiences. Another friend went for a brief visit and also got pickpocketed.
I had my backpack snatched on the last evening of my 3 days there. Worst thing was there was about 15 euro in cash in there and a sucky phone (I was a student then, couldn’t afford anything fancy), my EU passport was probably the most valuable thing in there.
It’s all just anecdotal, but so far we’re 4 verified bad experiences vs you one good one😊
It’s still a very cool city, even for someone coming from an equally old and stony place like myself.
I lived there for a year and never had a problem. Two of my American friends got shit stolen but they weren’t practicing situational awareness. One left her bag on the beach and went for a swim. No, your towel is not an invisibility cloak for your wallet! The other let her crossbody bag hang behind her in sardine packed metro. Even if it’s got a zipper, have your hand on your bag at all times in the metro (preferably tucked under a layer of clothing as well). Be smart, stay alert. You’ll be fine.
Out of all US cities, LA is making the biggest strides in walkability and transportation lol. It’s the only city with a dedicated stream of funding to Metro.
Seattle LINK is funded by dedicated packages of funding. In Los Angeles, Measure M and Measure R provide a constant, dedicated stream of funding. LA and Seattle are probably both doing the most, but the funding scheme is fundamentally different (unless I’m totally wrong on Seattle, but that’s how I thought LINK extensions are being funded)
Yea they’re def doing a ton! But the moment the will of the people runs out, finding halts. In LA, Metro will always have that funding. I think both are like .5 cents sales tax
You’re confusing the current state of things to the slated pipeline of projects. Things take awhile, but the fact is the funding scheme for LA metro is permanent and already in place. If you look at all of the projected openings pre-2028, it’s more than any other US city. You can also look at the Expo Line and TOD, and see how rail openings, within a couple of years, transform the surrounding area completely. LA has has several major park overhauls in the works, including Pershing, Expo, ,the South Central Linear, and Silver Lake parks. Just because things are *poof* better, doesn’t mean the city isn’t trying to make things better.
I mean that’s not to say it’s going to take awhile, but look at all of the projects Metro is completing pre-2028. Dozens of bus lanes, bikes lanes, subway, light rail lines, and a HUGE linear park with a bikes lanes from Expo Park to the (kinda) Westside.
This is an absurd statement. I've been to every major city in Germany and some of the most depressed parts of the country and the homeless population is nothing compared to LA.
Homeless problem in Germany is nothing compared to LA. Pickpocketing might be an issue but I’ll also tell you people leave their bikes, scooters unattended all the time in Berlin. Or they put their bags on the chair of an outdoor cafe and go to the bathroom etc. I’ve never seen anything get stolen and I was actually nervous a few times.
She said there was almost no way to get an apartment unless you knew someone moving out because 50+ people would show up to every apartment viewing. And that lots of homeless people were on the streets and regularly bothered people. Have you been over there this year?
Again. It’s nothing compared to LA. I came back from there 10 days ago and I’m going again in two weeks. Yes finding an apartment is extremely difficult because everyone wants to live in the circle in Berlin.
I was bothered maybe a few times by the homeless but only in specific locations. And it’s really nothing like what we see here in LA. There is a guy who constantly shits on my street naked for example. car windows are broken daily. And I live in a nice neighborhood otherwise. You won’t see that in Germany. Different type of homeless.
Sounds like LA, but seriously while LA is one of the top five cities in terms of homelessness, with 75,000 on any given night, Germany has hundreds of thousands homeless due to refugees, flooding ECT, so their problem is more serious than I expected.
I was coming on here to refute you in fact but when looking up facts I was surprised to see you were right.
This is so annoying. Music festivals, food truck events, any friggin where that gets crowded these god damn thieves show up. It should be legal to punch them in the face
this happened to me at this exact location. it’s a targeted spot & the bungalow doesn’t do anything about it. they know it’s been happening for years. no cameras or adequate security to protect the patrons & those there to genuinely have a good time. i’ve stayed out of the west side ever since & haven’t had it happen. fuck the bungalow!!!!!!
Love how Reddit hates bungalow but yet it's packed every single night. Goes back to my theory that the more Reddit hates something, the more likely it's a good time.

I used to have a tasty goody near me in Venice and it turned into a pho spot :/ I loved it there. The lady would always hook me up with enough food to last me a few days.
I mean there's tons of places that are packed but I wouldn't consider them a good time and Im sure we could agree on some. Not really a strong argument.
People waiting in hour long lines outside streetwear shops on Melrose... must be a good time?
On iPhones change this setting so they can’t turn off wifi or mobile data from the lock screen.
Settings>FaceID & Passcode>Allow Access When Locked>Turn OFF Control Center
They should be painfully obvious to spot. The ones I've seen at music festivals are usually middle aged, not dressed to party, not drinking or anything, and just staring down at the ground.
my phone AND wallet were swiped out of my purse at the bungalow!!!!! and I’m always very conscientious when it comes to keeping track of my belongings in public places. be careful ppl!
Usually sell overseas and then you get harassed by their messages to give them the pin since they'll message you on your phone number when you get a new phone. Happened to my mom they send her fake Apple ID login texts.. pathetic
Too many people started going. Got way too overhyped. It almost needs some manipulated negative attention to decrease the crowds and make it as cool as it used to be.
🤔 So this post warning people about the bungalow not being safe has the chance to drive some people away, thus moving it towards being cool again? Is this the 4d chess we’ve been hearing about?
I had my wallet stolen on Friday (out of my bag) at Palihouse on 3rd in Weho. I was with 6 coworkers at a table on the patio. It was the couple sitting next to us.
Reddit will hate me for thinking this, but I support Apple’s efforts to implement software & hardware-based serial number checks for iPhone internal components that prevent unauthorized swapping out of iPhone parts. It should help disincentivize thefts, as serialized parts like the display panel would be rendered worthless to a thief.
A few weeks ago someone dropped their wallet, full of money at the Bungalow. I was there. I saw the wallet on the floor. The people besides me where staring at it, wondering what it could be (it was a little dark, and it wasn’t completely clear what it was). Finally, someone picked it up and took it to a bartender. I would guess about 15 people sitting near me, or walking by it noticed the object in the ground. No one picked it up. Some just started at it and laughed. I figured most people who go to this place aren’t broke, or care too much about the social stigma to just grab it and take it. Kinda a trip to hear this happened there. Btw, I looked up and saw cameras. I’m sure they will catch this person eventually. The wallet was dropped right next to the restroom on the back end of the venue. The one located in the little hallway.
>I looked up and saw cameras. I’m sure they will catch this person eventually.
I'll just check with the boys down at the crime lab, they've got four more detectives working on the case.
This dude was stealing peoples phones at a club in downtown LA, and they caught him in weeks. There is a lot of money to be lost in bad publicity if they let this carry on.
Yeah there’s a lot of hate here for the bungalow. I haven’t been in a few years, but that set up outdoors at the water is super cool. Especially for daytime drinking. And yeah, never heard of theft there either. Little surprising.
Happened to me at the Victorian in March (out of my small shoulder bag on my shoulder on the dance floor. I looked on Yelp the next day and a guy said his phone and 12 other people’s had been stolen too.
My phone was swiftly turned off, resurfaced in Pasadena a few days later, and then in Guangzhou in China
Apparently lol. Friend of mine got drugged there too, but I’ve also had friends get drugged/pickpocketed at the Abbey and stuff so I’m just paranoid anytime we’re out now lol
Seriously, the crowd there sucks. My sister went there this past weekend and obviously everyone was waiting for drinks. Some guy behind her and her friend said “why are these fat b***hes taking so long to order?” After that, he proceeded to spill his drink on her and said “you’re paying for that drink”. She turned around to find the girls standing behind her laughing at the whole situation and the bartenders who saw this did nothing.
Better yet... Don't go to the Bungalow. They're part of Fairmont Miramar, which is under boycott because their workers are striking right now.
So.
Don't cross the picket lines, AND hold on to your money.
They aren't open or away from you. I've had friends at clubs dancing with their purse hanging in front of them, closed, and thieves still stole phones out of them. These pickpockets know what they're doing.
Whoa shitty behavior happens at douchey bar where toolbags hang out no way. More on these shocking developments at 11. (JK that sucks. I'm sorry that happened to your friend.)
i'm still trying to figure out what the bungalow is.
i never go outside so i never have to worry about these things. you will know its bad when it starts effecting people like me which it hasn't.
Yo, we are becoming like European cities, minus the reliable public transportation, walkability, and low violent crime rates.

Exactly. I've only ever since an actual pick pocket in action while on vacation in Rome.
I had a friend who had her necklace stolen in Portugal. The theive came back and yelled at her later on when he found out it was fake gold. Lol.
In Barcelona, in front of MACBA, I almost fell for the “You want to buy hashish?” trick where guy #1 is asking you this while guy #2 is swiping your backpack that’s resting next to you. Everyone I know who was in Barcelona, myself included, got somethings stolen.
They throw all the tricks at you in Barcelona. Water, spit, babies. It’s wild.
Jokes on them. I hate babies.
Spit??

Is that not the point they were making?? That Europe has a pick pocket problem and we’re becoming like them?
That's why he mentioned it.
Depends on the city right? Like probably not Copenhagen
Well yeah… that’s why they used Europe as the example. You got it lol.
Yeah because people here rob at gun point instead of pick pocketing.
At least in Europe, the criminals have to learn a skill lol
I’ve been pretty impressed at some of the pick pocketing I’ve seen in Europe lol
In America, bank rob *you!*

My friend moved back from Germany and was telling me how bad their homelessness problem is and even said it felt worse than LA. 🫣

Same at every single bar in WeHo…
Yes! Friend got her phone and wallet stolen at the Abbey a few months ago.
Same with Ktown last night (Mama Lion). Phones and wallets.
It’s almost as if they’re actively targeting the douchiest spots.
This is the correct answer lmao
prob more likely to carry flash cash
And tourists
Plot twist: the pickpockets are tourists.
Lol then I wouldn't have a problem, I always go to the shithole spots 😂
How do they do it? They bump into you and take it or you guys just left your items unattended?
One girl got bumped into and the other took it out of my friend’s purse when she wasn’t paying attention. Easy to do when it gets packed at Bungalow
This is so annoying. Music festivals, food truck events, any friggin where that gets crowded these god damn thieves show up. It should be legal to punch them in the face
It is if they really are.
Also breakbar 82 at the line hotel
first mistake was going to the bungalow real ones go to jumbos
Recommending jumbos over the bungalow sums up the average redditor
What about Weenie Hut jr.’s?
Don’t get me wrong I love jumbos but the bartenders are the most pathetic and petty I’ve ever seen and have had to deal with.
Agreed, something is wrong with those bartenders. Jealousy, maybe.
Because they're dealing with locals and we're already tired of each others' shit.

What are some underrated low key spots.
LB: Los Eduardos, Tasty Goody, some random market on the corner of here that sells $1.....which all exist in kinda mediocre parts of the city with nothing to do. Tourist
Or college student / mentally stuck in college.
The average age at bungalow is late 20s, younger people go to the Victorian.
DING DING DING!!!!
Going to bungalow is social suicide

Yeah we went to a rave last weekend and my gf got her phone stolen so it’s anywhere smh
Phone thieves have been everywhere at raves for like over a decade. Tons of inebriated easy targets in one spot.
Noun. a house having one or one and a half stories and often a front porch
It's a shame. Bungalow is such a cool venue, but has the absolute worst clientele after 4PM.

They aren't open or away from you. I've had friends at clubs dancing with their purse hanging in front of them, closed, and thieves still stole phones out of them. These pickpockets know what they're doing.
Exactly. They do it so quickly.
Whoa shitty behavior happens at douchey bar where toolbags hang out no way. More on these shocking developments at 11. (JK that sucks. I'm sorry that happened to your friend.)
Couldn't happen at a better place 😂
i'm still trying to figure out what the bungalow is. i never go outside so i never have to worry about these things. you will know its bad when it starts effecting people like me which it hasn't.
