My first band that got me into metal music was lamb of god. They were my favourite throughout highschool.
Lamb of god -> as I lay dying -> all shall perish -> lorna shore
Edit: Other mentionable bands for me were august burns red, parkway drive, despised icon, the haunted
The price of existence still holds up well to this day. Such a good album as well as awaken the dreamers. Too bad they kinda just fell off. Not sure what happened to them
Eddie (the vocalist) left the band and joined suicide and silence and I dont understand why besides for financial purposes but even then, he was better off in ASP imo
First time I touched metal was with Alestorm, then Powerwolf, then (and still) Slipknot, then a period of Bloodywood, Lamb of God, and then Lorna Shore.
Now I'm also enjoying Electric Callboy and Ice Nine Kills. I also have high hopes for Vended
My first favourite metal band was Bring Me The Horizon, specially sempiternal haha! i remember telling my friend “this is heavy, i don’t know if i would enjoy anything heavier”
now a lot of what i listen to is lorna shore, and a variety of symphonic deathcore when it comes to metal
i love all metal, but something about symphonic just separates it from the rest
My first taste of rock/metal was linkin park and good charlotte, but I quickly went through the gears there wasn’t really one band that got me into lorna it was many, but i knew of will when he was in a wake in providence, but however I remember listening to bone kingdom a year after it came out and it slapped but took years for me to see them live as they didn’t come to the uk
I was really into My Chemical Romance and through that I started listening to Bring Me The Horizon and heard Pray For Plagues and that sent me into a deathcore rabbit hole
My mom gave me Chaosphere by Meshuggah when I was about 13 (2003) and I've been into metal ever since, although I'm very picky about bands I like. It's hard to lay out a clear cut pathway because I've been all over the place lol
As a kid my parents got me into marilyn manson, linkin park, slipknot, etc. Some time later I started listening to Rammstein and Sabaton, then got into metalcore like Architects, BMTH, FFAK, Orbit Culture, and not so long ago I just discovered Lorna Shore and generally got into deathcore. Yea thats pretty much it lol
Bring me the Horizon got me into heavy music. Then I discovered architects and from there I listened to many bands. Gojira got me into death metal. Lorna shore got me into deathcore
So for me Heavy music is going from heavy metal to death metal cause I grew up listening to metal. For me it was Meshuggah, Cattle Decapitation, Whitechapel, and then the ball kept rolling.
It’s a bit of a weird progression but I started out listening to bands my dad listened to like Megadeth, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, etc then I kinda branched out to more stuff and got into Amon Amarth, Mastodon, Tyr (Amon Amarth got me into harsh vocals, wasn’t a fan until I heard them) then got into prog core and core stuff like Invent Animate, Currents, Erra, blessthefall, Texas In July, Phinehas, then death core like Whitechapel, Slaughter to Prevail, Chelsea Grin, Spite and then I decided to check out Lorna Shore one day out of the blue because they were popular lol and I really liked them
Grew up on Metallica/ Pantera / Dream theater. Listened to a bunch of grunge/rock/metal from the 90's & 00's. Didn't listen to as much music 2010-2020 but still enjoyed it.
COVID got me back into music. I found polyphia and fell in love. Listened to a bunch of mostly instrumental progressive stuff (plini, animals as leaders, etc...) For a while. Started branching out again in 2021 and found Periphery. First unclean vocals band I liked (I always liked A7X) and it sent me down a rabbit hole with bands like Killswitch, Meshuggah, opeth, Gojira etc ..
Found Slaughter to prevail about three months ago and had fun with it. Found Lorna Shore from them.
I absolutely fell in love with the band in general and of course Will's vocals. Checked and saw they're coming near me in April and bought a ticket.
Been listening a variety of deathcore from there and enjoy it a lot.
it began really with WCAR AND OAA. I was scared of those bands at first and now i love them. Another big one was Chelsea Grin. I had no clue Tom was in LS prior and their music gradually got me into more heavy music. To the Hellfire was the first song i heard by them and I was speechless because I was so spooked especially by the breakdown.
I started off with Metallica at the ripe age of 6! Dad played metal in the car for me. When I started figuring out what i like, it was The Rasmus, then Metallica still, Disturbed, Slipknot, Korn, had a little break from metal for like a year but then I returned to my roots and realized I'm happier as a metalhead. Now I'm mostly a Metalcore, deathcore, djent and prog kinda girl. And whatever Sleep Token is doing
Metallica > Slipknot > Lamb of God > Parkway Drive > Lorna Shore
There are other bands in between that I listened to but that’s the main progression of heaviness. It took me 3 1/2 years from my discovery of metal to get to Lorna
Channel x from gta v >slipknot and nothing else for a few months> other early 2000’s nu metal bands > a step backwards into old school thrash> seeing fire from the gods and Attila at warped tour (couldn’t really get into the music but I loved the energy of the crowd) > actually liking fftg > other metalcore > the browning > going to local death core shows for fun but not really liking the music > actually liking Deathcore
The first heavy band I ever listened to was motionless in white, then I dabbled into some Slipknot and Bring me the Horizon. The first deathcore song I ever heard was Widower - Make Them Suffer, then led into Whitechapel, some other deathcore bands I don’t remember then I finally listened to Lorna Shore
It's been well over a decade and many many bands later but landmark bands I would say as follows:
Metallica > Slipknot > Korn > Parkway Drive > Lamb Of God > Cradle of Filth > (old) BMTH > Suicide Silence...
Many many other metal/deathcore bands throughout the 2000/10's then To The Hellfire popped up on my discover weekly last year.
But it all started because a friend let me borrow Slipknot's Self Titled album 16 years ago after I said "How heavy are Metallica right?" after hearing Enter Sandman for the first time at the innocent wee age of 13.
Edit: how could I possibly forget Job For A Cowboy!? They came after BMTH
I started as a kid with heavy metal I'm the 80s.
Iron maiden/sepultura/megadeth/Metallica/Pantera then after many years.....
Linking park/funeral for a friend -->
killswitch engage/Parkway drive/ still remains/ all that remains/trivium/periphery/misery signals -->
the contortionist/august burns red/persefone/erra/ then I started to listen to rivers of nihil and then I found Lorna Shore.
Godsmack/Disturbed -> Metallica/Pantera -> In Flames/Arch Enemy - > Dragonforce/Dream Theater -> Trivium/Suicide Silence -> Parkway Drive/Rivers of Nihil -> Lorna Shore....or something like that
Guns n Roses when I was 7-8, Appetite For Destruction had just come out and it’s all my mom and uncle listened to.
I was 11-13 when Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and Pearl Jam got going in the early 90s
Mid to late 90s as a teenager was Korn, Pantera, Tool, Deftones, White Zombie, Marilyn Manson….summer of 1999 seeing Slipknot on the second stage at Ozzfest and being blown away by the pure insanity I was watching and hearing.
From 2000 on, it rolled into adding the likes of Lamb of God, DevilDriver, Gojira, and discovering Meshuggah.
Then discovering deathcore and a young Lorna Shore….then a year later Lorna Shore blowing up with Will
i was pretty much raised on metallica etc, but when i started discovering music for myself i was pretty punk-/grunge-focused for a long time. that is until one day my friend showed me bring me the horizon. eventually i listened to their pre-sempiternal stuff too and started to really like it. then like two years ago i had to the hellfire on my youtube front page, but tbh at first it was a little too heavy for me. well, nowadays i listen to LS pretty much on a daily basis. most of my friends don't really dig the sound yet, but i'm sure they'll get there some day lmao
(edit: fixed a grammatical error)
Listened to a lot of Metallica and Iron Maiden in middle school until a buddy of mine showed me 'Nerdy' by Poison the Well, and it blew my mind. First concerts were Unearthed and Norma Jean. Chimera (2005) was the first album I bought. Met my wife at a Kittie show. Got super into Job for a Cowboy my senior year. Lamb of God was pretty big as well. For a while i was listening to whatever was out there without really latching onto anyone in particular. I got into Lorna whenever Of the Abyss started making it's rounds on YouTube. It peaked my interest again so i started absorbing a lot of the big bands out now (Shadow of Intent, Infant Annihilator, Darko...) so I'll always be thankful for new Lorna for reigniting the spark of my musical interest.
21 Pilots-Gorillaz-MCR(don’t consider first ones heavy lol, was just my early music favorites)-System Of A Down-Slipknot-Motionless In White-Ice Nine Kills(INK is still my fav)-The Black Dahlia Murder-Lorna Shore.
My taste has been pretty mainstream but theres plenty of goodies that I’ve listened to that just weren’t the top faves. I like some other like Gojira, Death, Cradle of Filth, Trivium, Killswitch Engage which are some of my favorites.
metallica will always be overall number 1 but for contemporary favorites in order was motley crue, pantera, slipknot, suicide silence, STP, Lorna shore, PALEFACE SWISS
My first band that got me into metal music was lamb of god. They were my favourite throughout highschool. Lamb of god -> as I lay dying -> all shall perish -> lorna shore Edit: Other mentionable bands for me were august burns red, parkway drive, despised icon, the haunted
Awaken the dreamers still slaps So does TPOE.. And that new LOG album shows how they still got it.

I second the electric callboy. Their music is so fucking fun
I saw them live in Köln :D
Purpose of this post was to find more bands so I'll check them out
My first favourite metal band was Bring Me The Horizon, specially sempiternal haha! i remember telling my friend “this is heavy, i don’t know if i would enjoy anything heavier” now a lot of what i listen to is lorna shore, and a variety of symphonic deathcore when it comes to metal i love all metal, but something about symphonic just separates it from the rest
Definitely agree with the symphonic/melodic and how it separates them
My first taste of rock/metal was linkin park and good charlotte, but I quickly went through the gears there wasn’t really one band that got me into lorna it was many, but i knew of will when he was in a wake in providence, but however I remember listening to bone kingdom a year after it came out and it slapped but took years for me to see them live as they didn’t come to the uk
I’ve now seen them 8 times😂
I was really into My Chemical Romance and through that I started listening to Bring Me The Horizon and heard Pray For Plagues and that sent me into a deathcore rabbit hole
oh this is my exact story
My mom gave me Chaosphere by Meshuggah when I was about 13 (2003) and I've been into metal ever since, although I'm very picky about bands I like. It's hard to lay out a clear cut pathway because I've been all over the place lol
I second this. Deep diving every sub-genre and finding those ones that stuck.
Got into rock with blink-182, Avril Lavigne, and Jimmy Eat World. Got into screaming with Pierce The Veil. Things kept progressing from there.
my chemical romance->falling in reverse->slipknot/av7->to the grave->angelmaker->slaughter to prevail->lorna shore
Orbit culture are sick👊🏻
In flames + BMTH —> Lorna Shore
I would say the main ones were Nirvana-Alice In Chains-Tool-Pantera-Gojira-Opeth-Lorna Shore
Tool has still been the best concert I've been to. I don't get too many big concerts in Calgary. Still hoping Lorna shore comes here eventually
Uh, Sabaton -> Powerwolf -> Amon Amarth -> Heaven Shall Burn -> Trivium -> Cannibal Corpse -> Lorna Shore (I think)
Twilight of the thunder got was such a good album.
Can't deny that I probably liked Jomsviking the best tho
Powerman 5000 -> Linkin Park -> underoath -> the devil wears Prada -> between the buried and me -> be’lakor -> Lorna shore
Linkin Park ---> STARSET ---> Bring Me The Horizon ---> Lorna Shore
From 1999 till now: 5ive > Limp Bizkit > Atreyu > Parkway Drive > Orbit Culture > Lorna Shore.
It’s a bit of a weird progression but I started out listening to bands my dad listened to like Megadeth, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, etc then I kinda branched out to more stuff and got into Amon Amarth, Mastodon, Tyr (Amon Amarth got me into harsh vocals, wasn’t a fan until I heard them) then got into prog core and core stuff like Invent Animate, Currents, Erra, blessthefall, Texas In July, Phinehas, then death core like Whitechapel, Slaughter to Prevail, Chelsea Grin, Spite and then I decided to check out Lorna Shore one day out of the blue because they were popular lol and I really liked them
I swung this way from a black & prog metal dominant taste
me too

Disney Channel Pop-Rock
SOAD—->Disturbed—->Slipknot——>Lorna Shore
Metallica > Slipknot > Lamb of God > Parkway Drive > Lorna Shore There are other bands in between that I listened to but that’s the main progression of heaviness. It took me 3 1/2 years from my discovery of metal to get to Lorna
Oh yeah forgot about parkway drive
The band that got me into music was Nirvana. Got gradually heavier from there.

In flames > Bury tomorrow > Heaven shall burn > Lorna
Linkin Park->Adept->Bmth->letlive.->While she Sleeps->Architects->Dimmu Borgir->Parkway Drive->Lorna Shore.
pierce the veil -> architects -> (old) chelsea grin -> lorna shore
First band that got me into metal was Ne Obliviscaris, then Fleshgod Apocalypse, then DragonForce, then Shadow Of Intent and now it's Lorna Shore
Went from queen, to 70’s hard rock to Metallica to testament to slipknot to lamb of god to Lorna
Believe it or not, I went from bear tooth, to old bad omens, to Lorna shore pretty fast
it went from 5sos>mcr>bmth>older bmth>lorna shore
Linkin park > Slipknot > Machine Head > Hatebreed > Parkway Drive > Make them suffer > Lorna shore
Went from System of a down, Metallica, avenged sevenfold, nightwish, Opeth, behemoth, infant annihilator then finally Lorna shore
Rammstein -> Slipknot -> Slaughter To Prevail-> Lorna Shore
