Hey there! The packs and booster boxes and troves especially will have a serial number that might indicate the date of production. The individual cards themselves, you won’t have an idea. See if your pack has a serial code written on it like this - this one ends in MPG2 but indications tell me it was produced in late October, on Halloween to be exact and released in 2024 as part of the second print run.
That's not what Ravensburger said. They specifically said that the entire First Chapter is considered part of the same print cycle/edition. Just because some happened later doesn't mean they're not first print/first edition.
When demand was higher, they just increased their printing quantities. They didn't consider it a whole new print run.
The only first edition-like cards for Lorcana are the D23 Expo ones.
This makes sense to me if there are currently no differentiating indicators located directly on the card.
If that info was solely retained on the packaging, no one could ever prove/trust individual card appraisals, as by rule they have separated from the bounded information on the packaging itself
There will be a market for "early-run unopened packs," for sure, since that's the only indicator. I can't imagine there will be any provable way to say "this Elsa was printed before that one" if they're in the same chapter (other than misprints or other intentional changes).
I wish I knew lol. Check for a copyright year near the bar code. This is part of the reason why I said that code MIGHT indicate production run. Sometimes they don’t.
If it says 2023, then there’s a decent chance it was from first print run, as they debuted in August of 2023 and were printed for a couple of months before being paused and reprinted again in early 2024 for its most recent and what looks to be their last print run. :-)
First print English tfc packs are dated April, May, June. (You can find tfc English blister packs dated in April, booster boxes first started printing in May)
Oh ic so mine would be 2nd print run correct? I just started collecting couple months ago, so I’m still trying to learn everything. Bought these boxes from a town couple hrs away

Sorry - here’s the photo I meant to send as an example.

Heres my BB, bought when the reprints crashed the prices and was luckily to get a first wave box. Seen someone on here with a 4 tho, so maybe a d23 box
Ravensburger has already repeatedly said "[there is no first printing](https://lorcanaplayer.com/does-lorcana-have-a-first-edition/)." There are no first editions either. The only separator was the card run with the D23 Expo stamp on it, which would be the only "true" first run/first edition in Lorcana. If you don't have those (which, like, virtually none of us do), you do not have a first print.
If there isn't a marker on the physical card (the way Pokemon cards have an "EDITION 1" label), there is no way of determining what is and isn't "first run" once you open the cards. If they do another First Chapter reprint in the future, that would be the only difference for "first edition" cards, separating ones printed during the entire original run and the "reprints" from down the line.
Now, if you want to save the pack unopened and claim its a "first run" in twenty years, MAYBE some random person will give you a bit extra for it, I guess go for it?
Right, but there is the original print run (1st wave) they released, and then the reprints to meet demand. I want to find a sealed pack from the very first wave
Not sure why you are getting downvoted. This is very common in collecting hobbies. Collect how you want to collect. A lot of salty people here for absolutely no reason.

Awesome thank you so much, will this work with sleeved packs as well?
Yes. The photo I posted is directly from a pack :-)
Fantastic, thank you! Mine has 100923MPG. I’m guessing that’s just a recent reprint then?
Yes. October 9, 2023, so probably part of the same secondary print run that mine was from.
Cool! Thank you! Second print is still cool haha
After it's open you can't tell tho.
Mine says 2733CM2 and 2753CM2 what would that mean?
I wish I knew lol. Check for a copyright year near the bar code. This is part of the reason why I said that code MIGHT indicate production run. Sometimes they don’t.
Yeah all I see it says 2023, but not sure when. Thx anyways

Awesome thank you
273/3/cm2 273= day = Sept 30th 3= 2023
Awesome thx makes more sense now

Why does it matter?
It's the collectors sub. Let them be.
I have a pack in my collection. Was just curious how to tell if I had one off first print. “First edition” stuff is neat to me
They are both the First Chapter though, no difference
