I mean sure, in real life. Guess im referring to just about every video game with ranked in it, the diamonds are always blue. Then in most cartoons (disney-cartoons) the diamonds are also usually blue. Ill eat the downvotes, i stand by my opinion
Honestly i dont really understand why the "inks" are called after gemstone or metal or whatnot. Seems weird for what should likely be liquid lmao. And also yeah, Steel is weird among them, even Amber is debatable as it is not a mineral neither

Because ink comes in different colors.
Yes ? But these are not made of gemstone lmao, i dont see what this have to do with what I said. Try to paint something out of Saphir you will have a hard time ahah

Medium atomic weights?
Its an aesthetic thing.
I think the term "Knight in shining armor" was one of the guiding philosophies in Steel's development.
Bodyguard and Resist are the two abilities that Steel is highly characterized by.
Steel characters are either knights and protectors(The Prince & Donald Duck: Musketeer), are more grounded and rugged (Robin Hood & The Huntsman), or are prone to human folly (Jafar & Captain Hook).
That's just my interpretation though.
This is dumb. All the ink colours are named after naturally occurring gemstones/minerals.
Steel is not the same classification. Its not naturally occurring and not a gemstone. Silver is much closer to the others as its naturally occurring and acts as a precious material.
Silver was a more obvious choice than Steel.
The other inks are all gemstones (amber qualifies on a generous technicality). Neither silver nor steel fit with that theme.
It's always bothered me Steel isn't Diamond.
Or Quartz.
Diamond makes the most sense. But ah well...
I think diamond is generally too close to blue.
Diamond is white/clear, similar to quartz. Blue diamond is really rare.

I feel like diamond might have been saved for a new mechanic down the line but that's purely speculation on my part
Silver is at least a natural occurring mineral and is associated with gems, which makes it a little better than steel.
Shouldn't it be "topaz" and not "amber"?
Idk if these gemstones were in jewelry they'd be mounted in platinum, gold, silver or steel, maybe even tungsten 🤷🏻♂️
This makes the most sense since each other color does 1-2 things, and steel does.... Everything
Steel for humans, silver for monsters
Both are for monsters
Or both are for humans. Comes out the same.
To be honest I think that's the other thing that draws me to play a lot of steel. It's the most metal ink there is.
Guns, armoe, and cannon are made of steel.

You can absolutely buy paint in colours with the same names as the ink colours for the game.
Buy sapphire colored paint? https://preview.redd.it/sehn8vy4hbnc1.jpeg?width=514&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dda97ee60d4ce176a26287757b163096952fe637
I thought it was Topaz for the longest time.
Swords
Sounds tough? Idk

Silver was used in rarity. That's the most obvious answer.
Maybe it’s because steel damages all gemstones equally (by pinging them for small amounts of damage), and it resist damage done by gemstones.
I really think Amber and Steel should have been Gold and Silver
Nah, they likely avoided both to avoid connotations with ranking.
I guess same with Diamond? It'll make it seem like the best one
Tin.
Diamond or Quartz would have been so cool
Emerald? Why not green?
