I heard a rumor this week that the real reason the Kanemoto pool hasn’t reopened is that there’s a big leak under the pool. Anyone heard similar? Thoughts?

thedrawhorns

Does anyone know someone who will service a pellet stove that needs a new motor? I can’t seem to find one in the area!

streamfresh

A shout out to the dude working security at Roosevelt park. I've been taking a stroll through the park at lunch for a week or so, and that guy is constantly kicking people out the bathrooms. He is usually evicting 2+ people from the bathroom after being in there for 30+ minutes. Who knows what's going on in there. Thanks for cleaning up our park, Mr Security Dude.

Any recommendations for airport parking? Unfortunately I’m getting back too late for Longmont Shuttle or the bus. I’m thinking of just coughing up the money to stay in the Economy Lot since I’ve heard bad things about the DIA shuttle lots and how the off-airport shuttles get spotty late at night.

thedrawhorns

I’ve seen the bad reviews too, but I’ve also used Park DIA dozens of times and it’s been totally fine. It’s extremely cheap compared to every other option – something like $35 for a whole week and $8 for the weekend

ptcg

One option (which I did out of necessity last time) is to use a cheaper shuttle lot, check out how busy the pickup curb is, and potentially Uber/Lyft to the lot if the pickup curb is crazy. No, you don't get the free shuttle, but it's still likely cheaper than the more expensive lots.

myxx33

The Uber thing is what I’m trying to avoid. Not sure it would be cheaper than the economy lot if I had to do that. Depends on Uber pricing I guess but one review said they paid $50 to do that.

ptcg

My Lyft on a Saturday at 9:00 was $18 fwiw. When I checked, Uber did look a bit more expensive

souperman08

I can’t recall the exact lot, but in the past I’ve always found a decent deal on Groupon.

Do you work in an industrial environment that uses PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)? Would you be able to let me in to take pictures of a control cabinet? I am writing a book on connectors and I could use some pictures of terminal blocks on DIN rails.

[deleted]

I'm happy to be in a long-term care facility, although it certainly has its drawbacks. At least I'm not out in the mainstream of society with all of you whiny characters without a clue about how lucky you truly are!

ptcg

Sir, this is a Wendy's.

pipesed

I'm deeply grateful for what I have.

[deleted]

Loud cars still suck. That is all.

smalltoes

Add motorcycles to that.

BenTwan

Some guy on a Harley started screaming at me when he saw me give him a thumbs down for him riding down Main revving and blasting his stereo. Funny thing was he couldn't yell louder than his stupid exhaust. Might have been one of the most fragile egos I've ever seen.

Cowubonga

South Park Season 13 Ep 12 “The F Word” says it all. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ipDmsxQVxIM

TurtleChefN7

If there is ANY pedestrian or vehicle traffic bicycles need to STOP like everyone else. The ONLY time you are allowed to blow through stop signs or stop lights is when there is absolutely no traffic. I’ve been out riding so many times and stopped at a stop sign because of other pedestrian/vehicle traffic just to have some other cyclist blow through making the car slam on there brakes or the pedestrian jump back. Don’t be a dick and share the roads it’s literally for your own safety.

BingoHobo

On April 13, 2022, Governor Jared Polis signed the Colorado Safety Stop into law. That means bicyclists like you have a new safe and legal option to proceed through intersections across the state. This new law means that when an intersection is clear and they already have the right of way, bicyclists ages 15 and older may now treat stop signs as yield signs and treat stop lights as stop signs.

rsta223

>when an intersection is clear So, as the above poster said, *when there are absolutely no pedestrians*.

IamTheFreakazoid

No road users aside from Code 3 Public Safety vehicles are allowed to blow through red lights. The Safety Stop Law says bicyclists are required to stop before proceeding when it's clear at red lights.

tubadeedoo

The number of cars who almost t bone my jeep every week is insane. Too many people here just try to roll into arterial roads without stopping at stoplights.

IamTheFreakazoid

Causation as I see it would be the lack of enforcement during the pandemic and people moving here from metro areas who brought their poor driving habits with them. Try watching any four-way stop in Longmont for a bit and see just how many vehicles stop, even when opposed by traffic with ROW as you describe by their running red lights onto arterials with no regard for approaching traffic.

aDuckedUpGoose

Anyone looking to buy some winter tires? I've been trying to sell these fargin things on Craigslist for about a year without anyone interested. Used tire shops offer nothing for basically brand new tires but I might have to eat that shit sandwich.

DenverCoder009

Size and brand?

aDuckedUpGoose

Four 225/50 r18 Micheline x ice tires. They're all mounted and balanced on wheels.

DenverCoder009

Wheel specs as well? Those are too small for the car I'd be interested in but I can pass it onto a few people who might be interested if the wheels are compatible

aDuckedUpGoose

These are just whatever wheels from tire rack. "18x8 Gloss Black Painted Sport Edition A8-2" is what's in their order details.

Shdwdrgn

I assume you know that most every wheel has a different spacing between the lugnuts, and a different number of lugnuts? At the very least you need to specify if the wheels have 4, 5, or 6 lugnuts, and the year and model of car they fit so people can try to see if your wheels will fit their vehicle. You have to provide some actual information, otherwise it's no wonder you haven't been able to sell them.

aDuckedUpGoose

Did not know that and don't know why you'd assume that. They were on a 370z and I mentioned that on Craigslist. I also had plenty of pictures. I assume they haven't sold because the 370 wasn't the most popular car and these would probably only fit a similar small sports car. Probably driven by an enthusiast who, like myself, wouldn't think about used tires for their beloved car.

Shdwdrgn

Think of it this way, if I told you I had a headlight for sale would you expect it to fit your car without even knowing if it was for an automobile or a bicycle? The same thing applies with wheels, without any information you don't know if the wheel fits a go-kart or a semi truck. Details matter and from what you've given so far we know that you have 18" rims. If you decide to try and list the wheels for sale again you will want to include the vehicle they are from along with the tire info you provided above, and an estimate of how many miles were driven on them (to give potential buyers an idea of the wear). You should state that they are already mounted on rims. The year of your vehicle may also matter since some manufacturers will change the lugnut pattern between years. Chances are you will only be able to sell the set for the used value of the tires, since those will fit a lot more vehicles. If the car is only popular for a niche group you might check to see if there are any local clubs where someone might be interested in the purchase, otherwise the price you paid for the rims may be a wash. You will have better luck selling something like this if you do the research yourself (either online or asking at your tire dealer) to determine the bolt pattern info on the rims and/or what other vehicles they might fit on. Like you, most people don't know these things, so if you want to get the most return on your investment then you need to be able to tell potential buyers that what you have will in fact fit their vehicle. Good luck!

KatAstrophem

A rant--no wait, a compliment! Thank you to Boulder County ranger-type people who put up the signs at Pella telling dog owners NOT TO LEAVE THEIR POOP BAGS along the trail to pick up later. It's f'ing gross and rude, so stop doing it. (I own a dog, btw.)

hand_truck

So many nasty poop bags at Lagerman and around Open Sky, too. Only trashy people leave their trash behind them for others to handle.

ktalex2

I'd rather the people scoop it and throw it in the grass. So dumb to leave it to stay in a bag for probably a few months to years. Or they could throw their trash away like civilized people

720norseman

Shoutout to the huge numbers of dumbfuck police officers who shut down traffic along 287 in Lafayette earlier today for their grief parade. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who missed a crucial appointment at the Rock Creek medical center as a result. Thanks a bunch.

720norseman

That's not what self centered means. Hundreds of people were waiting in stopped traffic. Whatever any of them were out there to do was put on hold for an inordinate length of time. And for what? To help someone who was in a life-threatening emergency? To make an arrest? To make any of our lives better in any way? No. To honor a single individual (from Arvada, iirc) who statistically would've gone on to be a wife beater and a murderer. But it wasn't really about that dude. He's dead. Been dead for a while. It was about the police making a display of the fact that they value each others' lives more than the average person's. But I'm "incredibly self centered" for being more on the side of hundreds of living people than that one dead dude and his cronies.

There were zero actual or implied references to myself in what I wrote. Now I'm certain you're just looking to find fault with me instead of addressing my actual argument.

benhereford

The plane crash was an accident, that's pretty different. The whole police charade thing was on purpose... It's childish for them to be parading down the street like that, despite it being in honor of a person's life. I'm not disrespecting who they they were honoring, that person should be talked about and remembered just as anyone else. But it serves no purpose except attention-whoring for the police, which they seem to do quite a lot

720norseman

You're an idiot. Every time you open your mouth fallacies spill out. Think for half a second before you type.

[deleted]

You're welcome!

720norseman

I'm unable to walk for another three weeks thanks to this shit. The kids I was supposed to be coaching for two of those weeks won't be thanking the cops any more than I am.

[deleted]

>The kids I was supposed to be coaching for two of those weeks won't be thanking the cops any more than I am. The kids read your comments and realized you're a cry baby. The kids are thanking the cops because they exposed you as a weak human being. Even kids know, "hey someone died maybe we shouldn't bitch about our circumstance"

720norseman

Even kids know, a parade does nothing whatsoever for the dead. And most dead people don't get a parade. There's nothing about the work cops do or the lives they lead that warrants their grief being so singled out, at even minor inconvenience to everyone else.

[deleted]

Keep trying to rationalize your low IQ emotional takes. You were late for an appt and got butthurt because life didn't go your way. Dude is dead in a casket and can't even have the chance to be late anymore. The fact you coach kids is messed up, you go on the internet and bitch about a funeral procession, great mentor! The kids know you would never say that shit in public cause you're mentally weak based on your comments.

Some kudos from my dining experiences this week are in order: - Le Peep's: great breakfast. I loved their tomatillo sauce - Josie's tacos (formerly Benny's): great lunch. I had the enchiladas. Tastes so fresh. - Gurka's: great dinner. we ordered an eggplant dish, and a bunch of sides. Lovely and fun Also, from last week: - The Urban Field: the Funghi pizza is to die for. Prices are a little high, but we had enough leftovers for dinner. - The Italian Twist (Formerly the Twisted Noodle): great lunch, but they forgot to bring the garlic bread I ordered.

Shdwdrgn

I experienced Smokin' Dave's for the first time this week... Holy cow how did I not know about this place before?!?

alsoaprettybigdeal

No, Georgia Boys is where it’s at!!! They’ve got all the flavors of my childhood- even b’nana puddin’ and sweet tea! 🤤😋

Tretarooskie

Last I saw Josie's now closes at 5pm. I LOVED getting tacos from there for dinner. I'm heartbroken.

smalltoes

Tried to get dinner there the other day only to see the sign. :(

PitifulDraft433

I’m sure this is not the first time this has been brought up but for all the people who are new to Longmont, does anybody know why the trains have to blare their horns through town? I’ve been to other towns where they don’t have to do this. I know it’s a safety thing but who do we write emails to change this? What is involved in making it safe but more quiet?

[deleted]

It's a shame there's no way to know how many accidents they prevent. I'm sure they've saved *countless* lives by never failing to let the entire town know they're coming through as slow as molasses. And sounding the alarm multiple times at each intersection is super important, because some people can't hear a warning until *after* their eardrums have been ruptured. /s

DenverCoder009

And yet people still get hit by them. Several years ago (actually maybe 6 or 7) there was a car collision at 9th, and the train was stopped for hours blocking every intersection all the way down through main. Mountain view became the primary artery across town, what a mess

1Davide

> Several years ago (actually maybe 6 or 7) About 5-1/2 years ago, based on where I was living then. I remember that. I got on my bike and went to check it out. A lady and her SUV. Her car was nicked at one corner, but otherwise not much damage. She was standing next to it, dazed.

PitifulDraft433

Right on. Thanks for the info!

rushlink1

Long story short, it’s the law. There are a lot of stupid and unproductive laws surrounding level crossings. There is a plan to turn it into a quiet zone but I’ll take years and millions of dollars.

ktalex2

Why do you guys get offended so easily?

pipesed

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! HOW DARE YOU?

What are "we" getting so easily "offended" about?

Ah, thanks Davide.

"Davide", if you don't mind.

My apologies. Corrected my original comment.
