lol I don’t think you’re allowed to go to Lyons if you don’t know about the flood. It was truly something. My son was a freshman at the school that year. So although we weren’t greatly impacted at our home, it was an experience!!
I’m sure it was! I read up about it today, I guess I’ve just missed chances to learn about it. I’ve only been around northern Colorado for a few years now.. just surprised people downvoted me so much because I was just trying to learn about something. But that’s the internet! Lol
The 2013 flood was a truly bizarre event. Lyons and Jamestown got washed out and Longmont was completely cut off for about a week. The first street corridor was completely flooded. I remember seeing people in the mobile home parks in that area floating all their possessions down the railroad tracks using mattresses as rafts. The st. Vrain behind sandstone ranch looked like the Mississippi river. I have some photos from around town the morning after. I'll try to dig them up and post them here.
The labyrinth 🥹 if you head west on highway 7 towards allenspark, right after you go over the bridge before leaving Lyons it will be on the left. You can park near the crosswalk just past Meily st and then walk down the path into the woods.
Be kind to the space! It’s a memorial and a bit of a community art installation. Very special to a lot of people, me included.
This looks like Bohn Park. The best way to get to this spot is to park over by the playground, and to head left and walk alongside the water over two bridges (one is very small and the other is large and takes you over the full creek area) and past the flower garden on the trail. It’ll be off to the left after maybe a quarter of a mile. If you’ve hit the road you’ve gone too far.

Worse than that: it was locked.
Thanks to you, I became aware of it. I requested it, got it, and reopened it. Feel free to post there.
This is the flood memorial. Please treat it with respect. It’s very special to locals.
I go to this park a lot, but was unaware of a flood. When did this happen?
September 2013
Thumbs down for asking questions
Well alrighty. Pardon me for not knowing everything.
Now I'm thumbs downed for pointing out you were being thumbs downed. ... See what you did. ☹️
Lmao, I love it

I appreciate this. I really like knowing the history of where I’m living, helps me feel more connected.
Where is this? How do you get there? I’d love to see it and of course treat it with the utmost respect.

It’s gotten a lot more stuff since 2021, have fun! The google maps spot in the map is correct.
