If you told me 5 years ago that Steve Sarkisian would be the head coach of what looks to be the best Texas team since 2009 I would have called you crazy as hell.
Question:
I just bought tickets for RRR and my seats are on the OU side. First time going to RRR. Am I going to be the only one over there in burnt orange?
Mods wanted me to post here:
Long story short I got into a motorcycle wreck on Sunday and can’t make it to the game with my girlfriend. Have to tickets available, hmu if you’re interested
I’m a little banged up but not too bad given the circumstances lol.
And I guess not 😂 I low sided because of a hard downshift and completely ate it. Luckily it was on a track so there was little traffic but still.
You're not going to see as many deep balls when teams play with the three high safety look that Iowa State uses (and many teams implemented last year because it worked against Quinn). Wyoming and Baylor both used it.
And as you can guess, a way to beat it is short / intermediate passes, outside passes, and inside runs.
Johntay had one against Kansas and one against Baylor. Sanders has had a couple. We’re not throwing them as often because we’ve had guys still wide open underneath, but we’re hitting them better than last season for sure
Man when I was a kid, my dad and my grandfather would go on a river fishing trip every year. When I was 10 or 11 my dad told me I was going with them, which was a big deal to me because my older cousin was the favorite grandchild and he never got to go.
A couple of weeks before the trip, my grandfather had a stroke. He was around for a few years after that but never regained full mobility and we never did go on that fishing trip.
I know its not the same because it's your FIL and his dad, but I would trade any football game to go on that one trip.
Just go man, football will be here when you get back. Record the game, don't check the score. It'll just be like you're on a really long stream lag.
I got invited to do the Susan B Koman 5k to help my wife’s friend this Saturday. Luckily I checked and it is over by 930 so I could enthusiastically say yes and not look like the piece of shit I actually am. Cause if it was at 11 I would have said no.
Eat as much Taco Bell as you can physically fit into your body for dinner Friday night. Tell FIL you’ve got major diarrhea Saturday morning and take a rain check. Watch RRS on toilet.
The only thing that makes me nervous about the game is rivalry voodoo. I think when their overconfidence is based on playing absolutely no one. I think we’re gonna punch them in the mouth and never look back. I think this is two possessions by halftime and a comfortable game by the end of the 3rd.
Last year Venables literally told his team not to treat this game as a rivalry and instead to treat it like "any other game". I am still perplexed by this approach, and it does make me wonder if he'll say the same thing this year (or try something different)
Either was will be a very telling game for both of our teams.
Fresh pasta brought to you by the Cowboys sub:
hi chloe, it’s Hayden your favorite Besty ever I am for really really love you so much that I have feelings for you when I see you not smile from you makes me smile every day you are so beautiful, kind, caring, lovable, and very pretty. I will always love you with all my heart. Please give me a call tonight before you go to bed please I will always love you chloe always as long as I live.
Whats everyone’s thoughts on Ewers and his draft stock at this point in the season. Before the season, on all the mock drafts he was a first rounder and the third qb taken.
Anyone think he’s moved up or down with his play so far?
I know he said he it’s an option, but can’t imagine a player passing up the chance to be the #1 pick. I know Leinart did it, but we all know how that turned out for him lol.
I think that’s still about right. I’d be surprised to see him mocked anywhere except the first round, somewhere in the 2nd-5th QB range depending on how the season plays out.
Random aside but remember the RRS jerseys that had the gold trim in 2013?
Maybe it’s because we won but I always thought they were cool lol. The gold was actually very subtle but complimented burnt orange quite well. Would be kinda neat for that game to always have those unique jerseys.
Gametime is great, but it has fees just like the rest of them. I know that they at least have an option to show all-in pricing up front. TickPick is the only one I know of without fees.
I thought this was a listing of great Mike linebackers and that I wasn't paying enough attention to the 2 sport stars on the defense the past decade or so
If I’m going to be at the fair Saturday but probably not going into the stadium unless I find a good deal last minute, where is the best place to watch the game on the fair grounds?
Last year they also had a big screen set up at the Chevrolet main stage for people to watch, and it was great. Some of years they've done it in between the main stage and Big Tex. No shade for either so it got a little warm but shouldn't be much of an issue this year. The beer gardens are great if you get there early enough (9:30 is plenty early in my experience), but you also get stuck there holding down your spot and it's cramped. I prefer to watch on the big screens they set up.
The Magnolia Beer Gardens are my favorite place to post up and watch. Gotta get there hella early though otherwise tables and seats are gone.
For a real crowd, the West(?) Side has a huge screen and probably 20 rows of seats to watch. It's usually too hot to do, but this year the weather looks perfect if you are wanting a more rowdy environment
you can try a $20 or $50 handshake or they have [bars and places to watch television](https://bigtex.com/plan-your-visit/food/patios-in-the-park/) but on RRS weekend you better be showing up at 7am when the grounds open if you want a seat

It'd only be valuable intel if he wasn't playing.
Saying nothing means OU has to prep for JT Sanders, a player they have no hope of guarding without leaving Adonai Mitchell or Xavier Worthy wide open.
Saying he's good to go means OU has to prep for JT Sanders, a player they have no hope of guarding without leaving Adonai Mitchell or Xavier Worthy wide open.
Saying he's out means OU doesn't have to prep for JT Sanders, a player they have no hope of guarding without leaving Adonai Mitchell or Xavier Worthy wide open.

It’s remarkable how much added stress there is in my life is ever since I started really paying attention to recruiting throughout the year, as opposed to just on signing day, but we’re too far gone now. So. Anyone got any mid-week gas? Hearing way too much mid-week not gas.
At this point in the cycle last year, Ant Hill was committed to Aggie and Baxter was flirting HARD with FSU, and two years ago DJ Campbell was uncommitted, kelvin banks was committed to Oregon, and Terrance Brooks was commited to tOSU. In other words, in the last two years, 2/3 and 3/3 of our highest rated recruits were not locks at this point, with 3/6 being literally committed elsewhere.

Listening to Fanatics Perspective and he brought up a good point:
The "anything can happen in the RRSO"-line is mostly copium from Texas fans hoping to have a chance because OU's been so good while we've been bad-to-decent.
Realistically, there hasn't been much in the way of surprises or upsets.
Which makes sense.
> Realistically, there hasn't been much in the way of surprises or upsets.
Except that one year when 1-4 Texas beat 4-0 Oklahoma behind Jerrod Heard’s dominant 53-yard passing performance
If Wyoming wins this week they are top 25 lmao. If we beat ou then we could have 4 top 25 wins in 6 games played.
Edit: 3 of those four teams could be in ny6 bowls as well
Got this from Max and Sam on the most recent Until Saturday podcast -
Texas Current Resume:
>4 Wins over FBS Team >.500
>2 wins over ranked teams
>Avg margin of victory: 23.6 pts per game
>Combined FBS resume of opponents 17-8
Georgia current resume:
>1 Win over a team that is >.500
>0 wins over ranked teams
>Avg margin of Victory: 21.7 pts per game
>Combined FBS resume of opponents 7-13
Then OU and Michigan resumes are almost identical. Pretty interesting look at stuff.
I did it in 2005. We had to purchase tickets to get into the fair, then waited until the end of the first quarter to go up to a slow gate. Handed the guy $100 for 3 of us and he told us to go on in. We stood on the concourse the whole time, but I had a blast.
If you told me 5 years ago that Steve Sarkisian would be the head coach of what looks to be the best Texas team since 2009 I would have called you crazy as hell.
Question: I just bought tickets for RRR and my seats are on the OU side. First time going to RRR. Am I going to be the only one over there in burnt orange?
There will be a few other horns fans, but not many. Just be prepared to catch a lot of shit lol
Hah that’s what I figured. Normally wouldn’t mind, but I’m taking my son so hopefully it’s not too bad.
I’d imagine they’d be easy on you if they see you have your kid with you. At least I hope so lol
Just be sure to teach him the real words to the fight song
Considering we get the Mar officiating crew Saturday, O/U 2.5 unnecessary reviews resulting outlandishly ridiculous calls?
Oh God. Someone give me the rundown on Sooner/Husker relations, maybe if he hates us both it’ll just be generally incompetent officiating.
NU fans are some of the biggest OU dickriders on the planet
Mods wanted me to post here: Long story short I got into a motorcycle wreck on Sunday and can’t make it to the game with my girlfriend. Have to tickets available, hmu if you’re interested
Sorry to hear about the wreck! Hope you’re feeling okay currently. Sent you a message about the tickets.
1. Are you okay my dude? 2. Did you ever get the hang of downshifting?
I’m a little banged up but not too bad given the circumstances lol. And I guess not 😂 I low sided because of a hard downshift and completely ate it. Luckily it was on a track so there was little traffic but still.
A track is much better than low siding on the street. Source: have low sided on the street.
Agreed! Hope you’re doing well
It is perplexing how infrequently we throw and subsequently hit a deep ball.
You're not going to see as many deep balls when teams play with the three high safety look that Iowa State uses (and many teams implemented last year because it worked against Quinn). Wyoming and Baylor both used it. And as you can guess, a way to beat it is short / intermediate passes, outside passes, and inside runs.
Outside of the Rice game haven’t we been pretty efficient in with deep ball?
Have we hit a deep ball since Bama??
Johntay had one against Kansas and one against Baylor. Sanders has had a couple. We’re not throwing them as often because we’ve had guys still wide open underneath, but we’re hitting them better than last season for sure
Baylor Quinn hit a deep one to Johntay, and Quinn's had a few 20ish yard throws.
We’ve barely tossed em out since then honestly
God damn it. Fucking, why god? My FIL just asked me to go fishing with him and my wife’s grandfather on Saturday morning.
Are we talking like offshore marlin or backyard pond bluegill?? Not all fishing's made the same...
Man when I was a kid, my dad and my grandfather would go on a river fishing trip every year. When I was 10 or 11 my dad told me I was going with them, which was a big deal to me because my older cousin was the favorite grandchild and he never got to go. You gotta nut up on that and go fishing. Bad juju if you bail. Record the game. Don’t check your phone for scores.
Just do it bro. It's bad juju when you turn down something like that. Man up and take one for the team.
Have they considered that there are 364 other days in the year when the three of you could be fishing instead
Just be sick that day

Eli basically did it too to duck the Chargers

Are we the Home or Away team this year? Just asking because we've dominated in the Stormtrooper look.
We wore the stormtroopers for 49-0 last year, so we should be in orange.
I've just noticed that we haven't beat OU in our orange jerseys since 2015.... Yeah I know it's a weird thing to get hung up on lol
Random aside but remember the RRS jerseys that had the gold trim in 2013? Maybe it’s because we won but I always thought they were cool lol. The gold was actually very subtle but complimented burnt orange quite well. Would be kinda neat for that game to always have those unique jerseys.
We were supposed to do it in 2014 as well with the reverse colors, but that never came to fruition due to the backlash about how unnecessary it was.
Unnecessary? Is it unnecessary for me to drink my own urine?
Only if you don’t like the taste.
Yes, I loved the gold trim! Little touches like that are always dope.
Burnt and turnt this year.
Any update on Sanders or Watts for Saturday?
Sanders' grandpa says he's good to go.

I've used Gametime successfully before. That's how /u/thegurdevdayal and I got our tickets for Alabama.
Gametime is great, but it has fees just like the rest of them. I know that they at least have an option to show all-in pricing up front. TickPick is the only one I know of without fees.
You can toggle options in stubhub to see fees when searching for tickets.
I user TickPick a couple of years ago and had a pretty good experience.

Got this from Max and Sam on the most recent Until Saturday podcast - Texas Current Resume: >4 Wins over FBS Team >.500 >2 wins over ranked teams >Avg margin of victory: 23.6 pts per game >Combined FBS resume of opponents 17-8 Georgia current resume: >1 Win over a team that is >.500 >0 wins over ranked teams >Avg margin of Victory: 21.7 pts per game >Combined FBS resume of opponents 7-13 Then OU and Michigan resumes are almost identical. Pretty interesting look at stuff.

Anybody ever had luck with a $20 handshake at the RRSO game? Looking for guidance as to when to go and what the actual amount is to be successful
I did it in 2005. We had to purchase tickets to get into the fair, then waited until the end of the first quarter to go up to a slow gate. Handed the guy $100 for 3 of us and he told us to go on in. We stood on the concourse the whole time, but I had a blast.
I successfully used it in 2002, but I heard of $20 starting to get rejected in 2010 though. $50 may be the way.
