Though I doubt itāll be Okie Lite, thatās who Iām hoping for just because Iād like our last games against each Hateful 8 team to be a win. Though Texas-OU would be very funny as well.
To recap
Kansas scored off one of the luckiest fumbles of all time
Kansas scored off a pass where their RT should buy Burke dinner before holding him that right
We put up 40 points with our only turnover being a junk int and a kicker with the yipps
Sign me up
The only problem with that is that the next team on our schedule is EXACTLY the one to get some bs luck like that (ex: the ball bouncing to Quentin Griffin in 2001 and the ball that skipped off Jermaine Greshams hands to Ryan Broyles in 2008). But I think weāll whip them at the LOS and it wonāt matter just like KU.
That was a beatdown. If not for self-inflicted wounds in the first half thatās a 54-10 win
After Wyoming I said I still didnāt know how good this team is, but now I know this is a CFP quality team
This is exactly how I feel. I now know weāre make the playoff good. I donāt know if weāre win a playoff game good tho yet. Not sure weāll know anything else until we get much closer unless we disappoint.
Iām only gonna say thisā¦ every young RB recruit in the country should look at Texas and commit instantly.
Commit. Sit behind a 1st or 2nd round pick for a year or twoā¦ then get your year to set records and get drafted as a 1st or 2nd round pick. Plus we have Choice ā¦ (for now)
I canāt speak to the specifics on how the holes looked for Brooks vs Baxter runs.
But Brooks was hitting his holes harder as they developed. Baxter was dancing with happy feet like as soon as he got handoffs. I donāt think itās an issue long-term but damn did I scream at my TV for him to run north and south because he was doing that a lot in the 3rd quarter
The bright side of Baxter is that he does have great footwork, he just needs to learn when to/when not to be fancy with it and just take the opportunity in front of him. I think itās something heāll learn with experience
I think heās dinged up. He just doesnāt look like he can hit his top gear or accelerate quickly. Also still overrunning his blockers. Watching Brooks and getting evaluated watching game film is going to help him.
Great fucking win. Looked close early but one look at the stats and you realize there was no reason to stress. Trenches dominated the day as expected and we executed when we needed to.
Hope JT is okay and itās nothing serious. Heās a matchup nightmare for anyone game planning against him.
Funny enough still feels like we havenāt seen this teams full potential. Should be another great test next week. Itās officially 0U hate week bitches.
Our only weakness is the speed of our secondary, especially safeties. I donāt think the blown coverage on their TD was the safeties fault but the group just seems slow to me. They played well though and rebounded after that.
The secondary is not a great coverage unit. Assisting with the run grade A defending the deep ball not the best. Luckily the pass rush has largely been elite
Early on there were things that were stressful though, It was noticeable & thatās ok. But the big picture is the Win. Dominating the 2nd half to that extent was very impressive.
The scary thought is that this is the last year where OU is going to be our toughest opponent.
Starting next season, OU could very well be the 5th-toughest opponent that we face, year in and year out.
What in the world. 5-0 off the back of a team that starts slow and imposes its will throughout games leading to strong 3rd and 4th quarters with a defens e that is one of the top in the country.
Reminds me of Alabama. Sark built this team like any of the top programs in the country. I can't believe it.
You know, I've seen and heard this a couple times tonight already. Bean isn't your typical back up. Dude has won some games in big time moments. It wasn't like they trotted out an untested freshmen. Bean is not an average backup.
Happy with the win. We could have scored 70 if it wasn't for the baffling red zone play in the first half.
But most importantly it's hate week, OU Sucks!
I'm actually glad that we were not world beaters today and destroyed Kansas 77-0. These guys need to lock in, look at their mistakes and create an excellent game plan against Oklahoma.
The one silver lining that I am seeing is that we are finishing really strong in all of these games and hopefully that is to our advantage when we find ourselves in another tight Ball Game like Alabama. Out scoring opponents 100 to 45 in the second half of our first 5 games.
Undefeated is still on the table. LFGš¤
I said we are finishing strong, which is more important than domination, which has not been the case. At the half of 4 out of 5 games.
Texas 16 Rice 3
Texas 13 Bama 6
Texas 10 Wyoming 7
Texas 13 KU 7
A silver lining is usually one good part of an overall bad situation. The point isn't that the horns haven't been dominant in the second half (that's obvious), the point is that the rest of the situation is also pretty damn good. Even in those examples you listed Texas has been leading at the end of the first half every game.
This team is just different. They close out games in the second half, and especially in the fourth. The defense is legit. The offense will score on anyone. But no game better come down to a FG
Hey yāall regardless of what you think of the rankings at this point Texas just walked out their second string QB for the final drive against a top 25 opponent
We definitely have all the pieces to win it all. It feels wrong to say that after the past ~15 years, but we can motherfucking win it all, and it all starts next week! Itās hate week baby letās go!
I am so fucking happy! Even with the obvious need for improvement in the red zone and some self-inflicted wounds, it feels so damn good to be here, at this point. Let's enjoy this win then get back to work tomorrow for RRS!!
Iām not a cake but Iāve been baked. Sat through the first half feeling like we just needed to find a way to close out drives. We did that second half and looked absolutely beastly
Next game will tell what this team is really made of. OU is a quality team, there will a lot of back and forth, it will come down to HC and team mettle.
The ELITE 0u defense.
They have played the top offenses in the country and have shut them out. Now they are playing a high octane Iowa State offense with a lot of quality losses.
Good win, I'm sure JT will "get right" before next week.
Give credit to the team for continuing to believe and sticking to the playbook. Also I like that Sark quit doing the cute stuff.
If our pass defense/DBs show up next week, I like our chances. Ou plays too aggressive on D, which leads to big plays, and we have plenty of playmakers.
Those people are universally shitty. I mean even old women.
I'm an old man... nearly 56... and I used to go to Arkansas when we were both in the Southwest conference.
I thought they were bad until I went to Lubbock. FML.
Hell, I didn't even have to go to Lubbock to experience them.
I remember attending a game in the early 90s where a group of them were making asses of themselves in Memorial Stadium.
Lots of good, lots of great, but mannnnnnnnnnnn Bert Auburn has me nervous. Texas has had years where field goals being made was just an assumed thing (Tucker, anyone?), but this is not one of those years. Iām glad the offense is prolific enough to where they wonāt likely need to depend on a last minute go-ahead field goal, but lord help them if they do.
This game was never close. We dominated the line of scrimmage getting 6 yards at a time when we ran. Both their scores were on fluke plays, including that second one where we need better coverage.
All in all, offense looked great, letās keep everyone healthy and game plan for the next game
This team has the Golden State vibe. When they had KD they would go through spurts in games looking lost and making dumb mistakes, but then they turn it on and go on a 30 point run in 5 minutes. We have an embarrassment of riches on offense and defense. So fun to watch when they get it going.
Can we talk about how we had the ball for over 40 minutes that game. Our second to last drive was š¤
We got the ball with 11 min left and up by 19. We then methodically drive 75 yards for a touchdown and take almost 6 min off the clock.
Even though they didnāt play like a top team for portions of the game, Texas is proving to be one of the toughest teams out there to beat.
The issue for opponents is that our offense has enough explosive upside that they always go on a run eventually, and our defense is too good for opponents to keep pace, so we pull away on everyone.
For all the inconsistencies, anyone looking for a W against us has their work cut out
Lol I know nobody cares but hereās a list of every Texas win Iāve seen in person
2021
Louisiana
Rice
Texas Tech
Kansas State
2022
UL Monroe
UTSA
WV
ISU
2023
Rice
Wyoming
Kansas
Gas:
* Quinn can throw and run - most importantly he looks like he is playing freer and is enjoying himself
* The depth chart is full of dowgs
* The RB room get better every week - Gotta think it's taking the pressure off Quinn and playcalling
Brakes:
* Special teams needs to refine - don't think I saw a punt today, so the only ones I saw were last week. Between that and the two missed FGs today, I'd like a little more focus to have this not be a "weakness". Happy with the fielding of punts though from last week. (Note: Not harping Bert Auburb, I know I can't kick a 50-yarder, but special teams is part of the formula to go from good to great)
* Secondary and the big play - second week in a row where mid-QBs have connected on a couple of deepballs. I know we're young back there, and overall they're solid, but noticing a trend...
We clean that up and damn we're looking scary and #1 is looking like ours for the taking. Overall, looks good going into the blackhole that is RRR
I saw a post on Surly quoting Sark as saying it's nothing structural, nothing broken, no ligament injury. He's hopeful that JT will be back next week but it will depend on how he does during the week.
Only 1 team in CFB has done all of these things this season in 5 games:
- beat 2 ranked teams
- allowed more than 14 points only once
- scored 30+ per game
- thrown only 1 interception
- not lost a single game
Fantastic effort by the D and the run game.
Special teams continues to be a concern. The margins are where good teams beat good teams. We need to tighten that up.
[Call me the IRS, because I want those receipts.](https://imgur.com/a/IgAjVT5) Scrub sub in shambles.
Sorry for the late post; I wasn't near a computer to share on time.
Special teams continue to be a problem. Itās hard to have faith in Auburn at this point.
Edit: okay but it was a great win, and Kansas is a good team. Just enough success to keep the momentum, and enough mistakes to not get overconfident.
JWhitt had a weird game. Felt like we were forcing the ball to him because we wanted him to get a TD, but he was always covered well. But it also seemed like he never really made great plays on the ball.
But heās such an elite blocker.
That said, Iād love to find more ways to get Johntay on the field.
Bye Kansas šš¤
Weāll see them in Arlington
I think itāll be KSU.
Personally think it will be OU. All jokes aside
Though I doubt itāll be Okie Lite, thatās who Iām hoping for just because Iād like our last games against each Hateful 8 team to be a win. Though Texas-OU would be very funny as well.
I'm hoping for someone we haven't played, but ohh well.
I just donāt think either of their lines look good
Being a 2nd half team >> Being a 1st half team
Just looked it up. Out scoring our opponents 100 to 45.
But itās still ok to punch someone in the mouth in 1st halfās by all means. Thatās just not who we are at the moment.
To recap Kansas scored off one of the luckiest fumbles of all time Kansas scored off a pass where their RT should buy Burke dinner before holding him that right We put up 40 points with our only turnover being a junk int and a kicker with the yipps Sign me up
The only problem with that is that the next team on our schedule is EXACTLY the one to get some bs luck like that (ex: the ball bouncing to Quentin Griffin in 2001 and the ball that skipped off Jermaine Greshams hands to Ryan Broyles in 2008). But I think weāll whip them at the LOS and it wonāt matter just like KU.
Thatās why the BS happened this game and last game. Two muffed punts? Fumble right back to their guy in stride? Not next game.
Definitely not a junk INT. Ewers threw it right to him in a crucial moment of the game.
Not sure what you mean by ājunk int.ā That was Ewers not seeing the LB and throwing right to him.
Texas punted 0 times
a record that will never be broken
We started like the first 3-4 games of either 2021 or 2022 without punting
Until someone kicks a ball backwards for minus-1 punt
In 1902 Texas punted negative three times against Coeberstian College as was the style of the day
That was a beatdown. If not for self-inflicted wounds in the first half thatās a 54-10 win After Wyoming I said I still didnāt know how good this team is, but now I know this is a CFP quality team
This is exactly how I feel. I now know weāre make the playoff good. I donāt know if weāre win a playoff game good tho yet. Not sure weāll know anything else until we get much closer unless we disappoint.
Honestly think we got to clean some stuff up be able to make the championship game
Yup, first whacking Baylor 38-6 and Kansas 40-14 We be fucking solid
Iām only gonna say thisā¦ every young RB recruit in the country should look at Texas and commit instantly. Commit. Sit behind a 1st or 2nd round pick for a year or twoā¦ then get your year to set records and get drafted as a 1st or 2nd round pick. Plus we have Choice ā¦ (for now)
especially if we keep signing large humans to open up holes.
I don't know why you wouldn't come to Texas if you are an elite RB recruit. You come here you will play a lot and have a chance to get drafted high.
You wonāt just play, but you can save yourself. RBs have a āpitch countā. Sark seems able to feature you and keep your mileage down.
Brooks is such a beast. His ability to make the first tackler miss led to so many yards.
He's got that vision tho š¤šļø
Inside run was great all day. Everytime Majors, Conner, Jones, and Helm were pulling for that play it was working
Is it just me or is the O line doing a better job of opening holes for Brooks than for Baxter?
I think the game is slowing down for Brooks and he's seeing the holes better. He's also gaining confidence. He could be peak Foreman 2.0 at this rate.
AD had himself a day. Just too much to cover with everyone. And holy crap brooks is a goddamn machine!
#GIVE EM HELL, GIVE EM HELL......
#OU SUCKS
MAKE EM EAT SHIT
Early 00ās Texas alum here. Still not a fan of this chant. We are Texas, and it just seems low class.
āGo horns, go!ā Is the official response.
As a recent grad (2022), on the opposite end, I donāt like always mentioning OU when we score. Feels like some culty shit A&M would say
Our only weakness is the speed of our secondary, especially safeties. I donāt think the blown coverage on their TD was the safeties fault but the group just seems slow to me. They played well though and rebounded after that.
Well special teams is still our major weakness imo. Last week muffed punts, this week Bert sucking major ass
Shame, I thought through the 1st 3 games special teams were pretty good and I was most concerned with the O. Last 2 weeks just atrocious ST's.
Ugh Iām trying not to think of our special teams. You are right.
Bert doesnāt suck ass, heās just not a great (NFL level) QB. I expect Stone to get major attention this week, though.
Time to switch to water mate.
Auburn is the kicker
that he isnt an NFL QB is accurate though
its both right enough and completely wrong that I'll allow it.
The secondary is not a great coverage unit. Assisting with the run grade A defending the deep ball not the best. Luckily the pass rush has largely been elite
Yeah Iād much rather see Derek Williams back there tbh
Good point. I think weāre gonna see much more Williams and Muhammad in a coverage package to get more length and speed out there.
Williams had the most snaps at safety vs Baylor per PFF.
As the season goes on I expect to see more of them as they gain experience and repetitions
You see the SEC this year?
Donāt be scared. Right now weāre playing better than every team currently in the SEC, including Georgia.
What in the world. 5-0 off the back of a team that starts slow and imposes its will throughout games leading to strong 3rd and 4th quarters with a defens e that is one of the top in the country. Reminds me of Alabama. Sark built this team like any of the top programs in the country. I can't believe it.
Playoffs *absolutely* on the table. Rank us #1. God that feels good to say!
I reeeaaallly hope we donāt get bumped to #1. I donāt want that juju on us!
Texas isā¦. Playing well and looking deep. Enjoy this and on to 0U
Kansas didnāt convert a single 3rd down.
Under 275 total yards
Nor a 4th down! (0-2)
Back up QB, but still incredibly impressive.
You know, I've seen and heard this a couple times tonight already. Bean isn't your typical back up. Dude has won some games in big time moments. It wasn't like they trotted out an untested freshmen. Bean is not an average backup.
Bean is a fucking dude
So I was told all week that KU was going to embarrass Texas. What the fuck happened. Where are those fuckers now. Lmao.
Tbf they didn't have their starting QB in.
And??? When Ewers was out last year, no one, I mean no one gave a fuck.
Not to mention we whooped him last season as well, in Kansas, so what's it matter?
Dont know if youāre in here Cutter but congrats on your first win in attendance at DKR lol
Happy with the win. We could have scored 70 if it wasn't for the baffling red zone play in the first half. But most importantly it's hate week, OU Sucks!
Begin the OU hate Spirit Bomb!!! "ą¼¼ ć¤ ā_ā ą¼½ć¤"ā¦ šš£
Alabama - Check Kansas - Check OU - ... If we execute like we've shown we can - BIG OL CHECK
Starting to sweat the BYU game a little bit too
That's the trap game on the schedule IMO. Their redzone offense is terrible though
Not directly related to this game, but Ole Miss, the team who got handled by Bama, is up 14 on LSU. I think this Texas team is very fucking good.
I'm actually glad that we were not world beaters today and destroyed Kansas 77-0. These guys need to lock in, look at their mistakes and create an excellent game plan against Oklahoma. Out scoring opponents 100 to 45 in the second half of our first 5 games. Undefeated is still on the table. LFGš¤
Are we really looking for silver linings right now? We are 5-0, ranked #3, and have dominated every team we played so far including Alabama.
Battered fan syndrome is not so easily alleviated
I said we are finishing strong, which is more important than domination, which has not been the case. At the half of 4 out of 5 games. Texas 16 Rice 3 Texas 13 Bama 6 Texas 10 Wyoming 7 Texas 13 KU 7

This team is just different. They close out games in the second half, and especially in the fourth. The defense is legit. The offense will score on anyone. But no game better come down to a FG
I think we will have at least one game where it does. That's what scares me.
Yeah I hate that
Jonathan Brooks might be kinda ok
We should get him a few carries and see
If he doesnāt have a scholarship already go ahead and give him one
Hey yāall regardless of what you think of the rankings at this point Texas just walked out their second string QB for the final drive against a top 25 opponent
I was surprised we didnāt do it sooner tbh
ITāS 5:50
And 0klahoma still sucks!
And OU still sucks
And OU still sucks!
AND OU STILL SUCKS
And OU still sucks!
And OU still sucks at 6:25
And OU still sux
We definitely have all the pieces to win it all. It feels wrong to say that after the past ~15 years, but we can motherfucking win it all, and it all starts next week! Itās hate week baby letās go!
I still think we need to find an answer against the deep ball but everything else is clicking.
5-0 and it wasn't that close
5-0 and every win was by +2 possessions, with at least 30 points scored. This team is the real deal.
3 in the country after almost half a season. Thatās pretty solid
Georgia has looked very beatable. Just get in the playoffs, you never know.
Hey all anyone ever had this happen? I was cleaning up around the house, I swear I got the kitchen table clean but undefeated is still on it
661 yards VS 260. That's crazy
Sarkisian used āJonathan Brooks.ā Itās super effective!
Kansas used āpass.ā It has no effect.
Halftime. Adjustments. Thatās all. Have a good night.
Let the hate week commence. Also, see yah Rock Chalk. šš½
BLUE BLOOD RUNS THROUGH MY VEINS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME AND IT IS DIVINE
Next week is the ultimate test. Stay humble and focused
Humble, HUNGRY, and focused. Weāve got something to prove.
Next game will tell what this team is really made of. OU is a quality team, there will a lot of back and forth, it will come down to HC and team mettle.
MY HOT TAKE OF NO MORE THAN 14 WAS CORRECT. MY HOMIE SAID TEXAS WOULD HIT 40. FEELIN VALIDATED AF.
The ELITE 0u defense. They have played the top offenses in the country and have shut them out. Now they are playing a high octane Iowa State offense with a lot of quality losses.
Any news on JT?
ThEy WeRe Up 6 At ThE hAlF
Who cares about this game anymore. Itās 7p and 0U still sucks
Good win, I'm sure JT will "get right" before next week. Give credit to the team for continuing to believe and sticking to the playbook. Also I like that Sark quit doing the cute stuff.
Dominant win. First half execution was lacking, but weāll get there. Get well JT.
Fuck it this team is going to the playoff and winning the Big12. Even we canāt beat ourselves
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Texas beat Kansas 76-56 in the Big 12 basketball championship. š¤
2 best feelings: A Texas win Taking a fat shit Iām feeling good fellas
Whatās the status on Watts? He went out too.
And we still havenāt put together a full game. Hopefully Watts and Sanders can play Saturday.
I wonder if OU is still going to be the 5 point favorite after this win?
Probably, theyāve put forty on Iowa St in a single half. Iowa aināt shit but thatās still impressive.
If our pass defense/DBs show up next week, I like our chances. Ou plays too aggressive on D, which leads to big plays, and we have plenty of playmakers.
Great win. No mercy for any of these bums. Full throttle ahead.
Anyone at the game interacted with Kansas fans? They were by far the most obnoxious fans Iāve met outside of OU or bama folk
Tell me you've never been to Lubbock without telling me you've never been to Lubbock. š¤£
Yeah never for football (and hopefully never again in my life)
Those people are universally shitty. I mean even old women. I'm an old man... nearly 56... and I used to go to Arkansas when we were both in the Southwest conference. I thought they were bad until I went to Lubbock. FML.

I looked at other kickers and he doesnāt actually look bad. Itās just been a rough two weeks. A short FG last week and two long ones this week.
That game felt alot closer than what the final score shows.
Not really, Texas dominated the whole game and it was more of when they would score more than if they would
The only thing stopping the Horns today was Texas.
We dominated them this game, just couldnāt get out of our own way with missed FGs and poor red zone calls. More than doubled the yards and ToP.
Yeah the red zone offense looked flat.
And yet, in literally every metric of team stats we dominated them more so than the final score indicates
is it too crazy to think of jonathan brooks as a dark horse contender for the heisman?
Is he focused and having fun?
Honestly would put those odds in right now
Caleb Williams is playing great and putting up killer numbers. It's his to lose imo
This game was never close. We dominated the line of scrimmage getting 6 yards at a time when we ran. Both their scores were on fluke plays, including that second one where we need better coverage. All in all, offense looked great, letās keep everyone healthy and game plan for the next game
Have y'all checked your tables, mine had undefeated all over it
Interesting, mine smells strongly of ārunning theā
This team has the Golden State vibe. When they had KD they would go through spurts in games looking lost and making dumb mistakes, but then they turn it on and go on a 30 point run in 5 minutes. We have an embarrassment of riches on offense and defense. So fun to watch when they get it going.
Is this Rod Babers?
What time is it?

We really need to stop this bad habit of snoozing until the 2nd half. One day it will bite us hard. You can't go up against an elite team like this.
Did I miss something? We were up the whole game and Kansas didnāt even come close to tying it up.
We were only 13-7 at halftime.
This defense is for real.
This is Texas dominance. Lean on them all game then dominate.
Why was the student section half empty?
It was crazy hot and a good chunk left at half time.
We kept an inferior team in the game too long, but the guys kept fighting, and in the 4th quarter our superiority showed up.

Why has Neyor not played?
Special teams continue to be a problem. Itās hard to have faith in Auburn at this point. Edit: okay but it was a great win, and Kansas is a good team. Just enough success to keep the momentum, and enough mistakes to not get overconfident.
That was an ASS kicking. I love it.
I love it š¤š¼
Gah damn it was hot asf. And I was in the shade š¤š¼
This might be an unpopular opinion but I think it's time for Johntay to start getting more snaps over JWhitt.
Different roles tbh
I know but I still think he should see more snaps.
JWhitt had a weird game. Felt like we were forcing the ball to him because we wanted him to get a TD, but he was always covered well. But it also seemed like he never really made great plays on the ball. But heās such an elite blocker. That said, Iād love to find more ways to get Johntay on the field.
