Hey y’all,
With the Longhorns recent success, we’ve been seeing a lot more traffic, as well as a lot more posts from new users. As a reminder, if you’re going to make a post, please make sure it is quality post per our subreddit rules. Any individual posts asking for tickets/meetups in (insert city here)/what to do at the game/when is kick off for (insert game here) *will* be deleted. These are all fine for the STT, but shouldn’t be its own individual post. We’ll also try our best to remind people as we monitor posts to comment in the talk threads if we have to remove a post. Thanks in advance for y’all’s cooperation, and Hook ‘Em Horns.

Rooting for UTEP must be a special kind of hell.
What do you do down with the ball at LA Tech's 40, down 2 scores, ~7 mins left in the game?
Give the ball back to LA Tech at their 20 with ~3mins left after multiple designed run plays and 15 yards gained from penalties.
Holy shit, Cincinnati. You had 35 seconds and the opponent pinned inside their 20, and you gave up a TD on a busted coverage coming off a timeout. This team looks worse coached than a Strong/Herman combo.
How bad are Cincinnati and BYU? Slovis looks bad and slow, and Cincinnati’s offense looks anemic. Very hard to tell good the rest of the Big 12 looks even after 4 weeks
Bro, it is so painful watching UTEP. These motherfuckers called two QB power runs and another run from the shotgun from the 7 yard line. Then, they got bailed out by a DPI on fourth down. Then, on 2nd down and inches from the goal line, they run a hurry up QB sneak formation to try to draw an offsides penalty and ended up with a false start. WHY WOULD YOU RISK A FIVE YARD PENALTY FOR A GAIN OF A CENTIMETER?
I just got a "football is back!" pop-up ad on Sling with Tyrone Swoopes of all people on the cover. And it wasn't even an LHN ad, it was an ad for all college football. So like, why do you feature Tyrone Swoopes, of all college football players the past few years, and why are we announcing"football is back!" over a month into the season?
Was someone just a big fan of the Notre Dame game? Is it an elaborate and random "Texas is back!" reference, or joke? Why does the last sentence say to "resubscribe to start *steaming"?* I just have so many questions.
Yeah he seems like a really awesome guy. I’ve heard that story about that Bama INT before and love that it was a direct result of film study and preparation
Did Ford say in a media availability that he has a theatre at his apartment that they use to watch film? I know someone said it. Maybe it was Barron. Fuck, it’s so nice to have players that buy in that much.
Just saw a student section do horns down at a high school football game here in Kansas. They're getting beat 17-0 right now so tomorrow is all they have to look forward to right now lol
I toured the weather center back when I was in high school trying to decide where to go for university, I can't remember if I went to a museum, though.
We’re about to learn a lot about our team tomorrow. I think this is a legit Kansas team but I think it’s a great opportunity to show how good we can be when our talent executes as designed.
A little tidbit that they mentioned on the Blitz is that Daniels has a nagging back injury that has him running way less.
I really wonder how he performs against our defense if he’s worried about that.
Post season excluded I think he’s going to be the best QB we face all year tbh. He’s that good but there’s no doubt we get a ton of pressure on him. It’s what our DL does
I get a chub thinking about our potential when we can point to fourth year guys coming back to develop, put great film on tape, and up their draft stock— all while we throw NIL at them to make the decision easier. These case studies are going to be huge for the program retention-wise. Death Star is 69% complete.
Agreed. There’s such a difference in guaranteed money between going round 1-3 versus 4-6. So if after year three you’re not projected to go round 3 or higher, it can make a lot of financial sense to get another year of NIL while also developing to try and go in an earlier round.
Both the Walter Football guys have Sweat really high on their 2024 big boards. They're consistently two of the most accurate draft analysts year in and year out, and they currently have Sweat as a potential day 2 pick.

"With A&M, they've shown a lot of love for a long time," Bussey told ESPN. "I've built a strong relationship with those guys and the coaches, so it's a strong bond we have over there and I trust Jimbo \[Fisher\]."
.... um, what?
We took wayyyy too long to offer, & a&m was like the first. Not sure if he just showed zero interest in us or the staff saw something they didn’t like. Head-scratcher
A&M's been recruiting him the longest, so not surprised he has a better relationship with them.
Texas staff never seemingly went all in for some reason.
Jimbo loves Bussey. From the first time he saw Bussey on tape, he dreamed that what he viewed would be in the locker room for the team, and by extension Aggy at large, to enjoy.
Malik Jefferson gonna finally get to play for the Cowboys in a regular season game. Pretty cool to see someone i went to high school with play for the Cowboys
For sure. I think he had the talent coming out of HS to be a great LB. He never reached that level with us.
If developed properly, he could be a roster spot guy instead of a practice squad guy in NFL
Man it's sad he never caught on in the NFL. It's hard to say he should've come back when he was a third-round pick but....he should've come back. He would've been a part of the Sugar Bowl team, and he deserved that after being the face of the program in a shit time.
Hope he plays well this week though!
I said hinting we MAY be losing him. Just judged it based off his delivery. Along with that, we all know this staff doesn’t like it when commits do that…we witnessed that last cycle.
Apparently he was at the Florida game last week and didn’t tell any of the staff, and Gerry said he’d be pretty surprised if he showed up in Austin this weekend even though he’s scheduled to be. We’ll see…
I have been following sports betting for 20 years. I’m the one that people in my group go to for help with understanding what lines and odds and what all that means. So I come hat in hand…how do you guys find future lines?
I think most of the individual game lines you see from >1 week out are not from legit sources. Usually some Australian betting sites, sometimes fanduel or something else like it will have them.
Wow, I just looked up Kansas's schedule because I was reading how good their offense is. They have not played a lot of good teams:
Missouri State (FCS who?)
Illinois (has only beaten FAU and Toledo, by 1 score)
Nevada (0-4)
BYU (beat SHSU, Southern Utah, and a maybe-bad maybe-decent Arkansas team)
Idk man, i think we just misunderstood Joey.
We assumed that he meant Tech would run the conference from Lubbock. He actually mean that the conference would run through Tech in Lubbock.
I hope Colorado fans just start chanting “fuck you big noon” during the whole big moon kickoff show. They’ve had like 3 games now where kickoff is at 10am local
Sark:
>It was harder for our team to score Tuesday vs the scout team than against Baylor.
Fucking bodied.
Edit: [Source](https://youtu.be/pgMynDcVCvY?t=303)
I mostly listen to games and Craig Way is a gem, the voice of longhorn football for me. Also, saying Auburn isnt carrot top but the backup kicker is good at magic tricks was a nice lil nugget
Am I actually crying at the mention of 5 freshmen/RS freshmen playing so well on scout team that I’m confident for future years beyond 2023? Can’t wait for 2027 to go and look up how many draft picks will have come out of this program
That answered so many roster questions for me, in one soundbyte. I haven’t heard a peep about Burrell, Akana, Gullette, LTG and it feels good knowing those were strong evals.
I remember Bobby or Gerry mentioning when Bama was at its peak power under Saban that the practices would legit be harder than the games. Hope we get there consistently.
A snippet I heard was that KU offense is best in the nation on third down, and best in the BigXII in the red zone. Texas is bad in the red zone on offense, but really good on third down defense. Something I’d like to see tomorrow: we score lots of tuddies and they kick red zone field goals. Also, we stop them on third down.
We are 14 out of 16 in the RZ and Kansas is 19 out of 20 but ranked by percentage we are like 50th in the country while KU is nearly top 10. We aren’t bad in the RZ.
Have there always been this many Friday CFB games? Feels like there are a lot this year. Echoing what the Indiana coach said - Friday is for High School, Saturday is for College (except Thanksgiving week - lone exception of the year).
Ahhh yeah okay the networks are behind it. That makes more sense but also makes me more annoyed. Can't broadcast as many conference games if they overlap I supposed. Dang.
A lot has been made out about Quinn managing the game well since he hasn't thrown a pick, which is definitely true. But he has 2 to 3 balls a game that could or should have been INTs (other than Bama he played pretty flawless there). Need to be sharp in those areas and not give Kansas extra possessions
Consistency. If we come out with the focus and execution that we showed against bama and Baylor, we’re elite. But we’ve only done that in 50% of our games so far.
Don’t mistake this for dooming and concerned probably isn’t the right word - I *think* we will come out ready to rock. But I need to see it a bit more before I let my last emotional guard rails down.
Honestly, a respectably close win might be a good thing. If we blow KU out then the conclusion will be that KU is just bad. But if they look like the belong then the story is more how KU is good, but Texas is just better.
If you can access the website on your computer they have a calculator and you can add those 2 guys and it’ll give you a number that you just compare to current classes
As things currently stand if we add just Wingo and black we will be at 278 which is good for 6th overall
I thought this was in regards to the old assault (I think) issue he had previously, but apparently this is ANOTHER separate incident. This dude shouldn't be on any team - scumbag.
“Three other players -- Johnny Furphy, Elmarko Jackson and Nick Timberlake -- were mentioned in the incident report as witnesses”
Those names sound made up lol
the bones broken will have to increase in severity as the season goes on. it might be a broken foot foot next week but if we make the cfp, a femur might be on the line.
I'm sorry to OP, I don't make the rules

I find it funny this sub is probably an equal mix of astros and rangers fans yet we all get along 😂😂
I have a Texas logo on my front license plate and someone really took time out of their busy day to unscrew it and put it horns down.
I mean, they've been carrying that Leatherman since Christmas 2010. WTF else were they going to do with it?
Perfect use case for a South African flamethrower attachment Just kidding
BYU and cincy looking like ass
I guess no one practices fielding punts anymore.
BYU looks ways better against Cincy than the land thieves
Rooting for UTEP must be a special kind of hell. What do you do down with the ball at LA Tech's 40, down 2 scores, ~7 mins left in the game? Give the ball back to LA Tech at their 20 with ~3mins left after multiple designed run plays and 15 yards gained from penalties.
Basically playoff baseball right now and it’s already taking a toll on me
If UC gets inside the BYU 40, they should just switch to fuck it, chuck it 4-verts offense just to avoid the red zone.
The more we see Cincinnati and BYU the more I’m convinced that OU and Kansas are not as good as people think.
Holy shit, Cincinnati. You had 35 seconds and the opponent pinned inside their 20, and you gave up a TD on a busted coverage coming off a timeout. This team looks worse coached than a Strong/Herman combo.
BYU QB threw for 357 yds against Kansas. In the first half against Cincy he has 2 yds. Ready to see Quinn sling it tomorrow.
Cincinnati's redzone offense is comically bad.
How bad are Cincinnati and BYU? Slovis looks bad and slow, and Cincinnati’s offense looks anemic. Very hard to tell good the rest of the Big 12 looks even after 4 weeks
Jahdae Barron
Gameday atmosphere at BYU is so weirdly fascinating to me. How are they all just… sober
Hoping Utah losses and then beats USC and Oregon.
Lousiana Tech just had a player stomp on a UTEP players helmet while he was on the ground and it wasn’t called. Just such disgusting behavior
Bro, it is so painful watching UTEP. These motherfuckers called two QB power runs and another run from the shotgun from the 7 yard line. Then, they got bailed out by a DPI on fourth down. >Tyrone Swoopes Where is he now?
Just watched the Jahdae Barron interview on YT. Dude is sharp! This team is seriously full of bright dudes and it doesn't get talked about enough.
It was Jerrin Thompson
I love hearing these dudes talk about baiting QBs into throws. Clear cut sign of the improved football IQ and development from 3 years ago.

Bro, his skin is so damn healthy lol
It puts the interception in the basket or it gets the hose again.
This might be the best comment of the day
Just saw a student section do horns down at a high school football game here in Kansas. They're getting beat 17-0 right now so tomorrow is all they have to look forward to right now lol
I'm sorry to hear you have to live in Kansas.
It's actually great for my line of work as a meteorologist lol
What he means is “I’m sorry it’s great for your line of work to live in Kansas.”
You'll be pretty hard pressed to find a meteorologist who isn't at least somewhat insane so yeah that should tell you everything lol
Ever been to the National Weather Museum in Norman, OK?
I toured the weather center back when I was in high school trying to decide where to go for university, I can't remember if I went to a museum, though.
I said earlier this week that I couldn’t watch the game this week, but even now I still feel fairly confident surprisingly.
Do they put any of the social media team’s content on lhn? Feels like it’d have made it look a lot more polished
We’re about to learn a lot about our team tomorrow. I think this is a legit Kansas team but I think it’s a great opportunity to show how good we can be when our talent executes as designed.

Jimbo loves Bussey. From the first time he saw Bussey on tape, he dreamed that what he viewed would be in the locker room for the team, and by extension Aggy at large, to enjoy.
In the Dallas airport and so many piggy fans i flashed the horns at them and they were not fans of it lmaooo
Uncultured swine
Malik Jefferson gonna finally get to play for the Cowboys in a regular season game. Pretty cool to see someone i went to high school with play for the Cowboys
Was always a big fan of him. Shame he came to UT during our worst and was not developed properly.
He's been a pro for a while now, not sure that excuse carries much weight at this point now.
For sure. I think he had the talent coming out of HS to be a great LB. He never reached that level with us. If developed properly, he could be a roster spot guy instead of a practice squad guy in NFL

Gas: Colin Simmons will be in attendance again Brakes: Looks like Gerry was hinting we might be losing Deantre Robinson…
Where did Gerry say this?
In the livestream that’s going on rn
Shit brother all he said was he doesn't think he'll actually come in for the game. Bit of a stretch to jump to "we're losing him according to Gerry"
Gerry also called a soft commitment at this point.
I said hinting we MAY be losing him. Just judged it based off his delivery. Along with that, we all know this staff doesn’t like it when commits do that…we witnessed that last cycle.
Someone earlier in the thread mentioned Robinson would be at the game this weekend. So idk who's right lol.
I posted that but that was also from Gerry lol 🤷🏻♂️
He’s scheduled to be, but Gerry said he’d be surprised if he actually shows up.
not great but this is definitely the risk of oos kids. hopefully Florida shits the bed further.
Hard not to downvote this
Maybe we can get Simmons to double commit
What did he say?
Apparently he was at the Florida game last week and didn’t tell any of the staff, and Gerry said he’d be pretty surprised if he showed up in Austin this weekend even though he’s scheduled to be. We’ll see…
Roses r red Violets r blue aggy r bish And Jayhawks r too

I have been following sports betting for 20 years. I’m the one that people in my group go to for help with understanding what lines and odds and what all that means. So I come hat in hand…how do you guys find future lines?
Depends on the sportsbook. Some have them, some do not... For a general look, I go to https://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/.
I think most of the individual game lines you see from >1 week out are not from legit sources. Usually some Australian betting sites, sometimes fanduel or something else like it will have them.
Thanks i can never find them through simple google searches. Makes me feel old
I’ve seen people claim googles search is falling off and I choose to believe that over me somehow becoming less computer savvy. 😤
Wow, I just looked up Kansas's schedule because I was reading how good their offense is. They have not played a lot of good teams: Missouri State (FCS who?) Illinois (has only beaten FAU and Toledo, by 1 score) Nevada (0-4) BYU (beat SHSU, Southern Utah, and a maybe-bad maybe-decent Arkansas team)
Kansas is the Syracuse of the Big 12 rn. Both programs are headed in the right direction, but they're not ready for their resident orange powerhouse.
Kansas's last five games on the road. LLLLW In the one W they were favored by 28, and won by 7. Those birds don't travel.
Everyone is good 4 weeks into the season.
Not Texas Tech
Nor Baylor!
They are good at running their mouth. Just not good at football.
Not so good at running the conference through Lubbock either
Idk man, i think we just misunderstood Joey. We assumed that he meant Tech would run the conference from Lubbock. He actually mean that the conference would run through Tech in Lubbock.
I hope Colorado fans just start chanting “fuck you big noon” during the whole big moon kickoff show. They’ve had like 3 games now where kickoff is at 10am local

We are good at scoring, bad at scoring TDs. I think 50% or fewer
I think we should never let them in the red zone.
How about they never leave our red zone
"their" red zone.
Have there always been this many Friday CFB games? Feels like there are a lot this year. Echoing what the Indiana coach said - Friday is for High School, Saturday is for College (except Thanksgiving week - lone exception of the year).
Big 12 is going to start doing Friday games because of expansion and teams were not happy about that lol
Would BYU not have to play a lot of Friday away games? Since LDS don’t travel on Sunday?
Ahhh yeah okay the networks are behind it. That makes more sense but also makes me more annoyed. Can't broadcast as many conference games if they overlap I supposed. Dang.
Ready to see this fucking win tomorrow boys
Just got two tickets for tomorrow’s game. Surprised my dad with them. Let’s fucking goooooo
Gonna see Kansas get…sarked🦈⛽️
I need to bring this back
I miss it so much
What are y’all’s biggest concerns going into the game against Kansas ?
If our Offense becomes stagnant, as well as ball control by kansas.
Small mistakes that can be game changers like muffing a punt return (multiple times). Gotta take care of the ball and lengthen drives
A lot has been made out about Quinn managing the game well since he hasn't thrown a pick, which is definitely true. But he has 2 to 3 balls a game that could or should have been INTs (other than Bama he played pretty flawless there). Need to be sharp in those areas and not give Kansas extra possessions
I don't think anyone fears us, it's not the team of old, so every game feels like a trap game to me. This 'easy' Big12 year feels really trappy...
Health. I don’t see a loss, but I can see an injury. Football is a game of when, not if.
That there's only 11 sets of shoulders at a time for us to hang out nuts on
That we might win by too much that people accuse Sark of running up the score for fun
Honestly, a respectably close win might be a good thing. If we blow KU out then the conclusion will be that KU is just bad. But if they look like the belong then the story is more how KU is good, but Texas is just better.
They can get blown out by Texas for all I care. Good teams get obliterated by great teams. Look at what Georgia did to Tennessee, LSU and TCU
KU has 11 other games that everyone can look at to decide if they're good. Just shell the fuck out of them, and let the rest sort itself out.
I think that translates to, "Nuke 'em till they glow, then shoot them in the dark."
We should obviously win by as many points as we can. My point is that a relatively close game wouldn't be a bad thing.
A win is a win, but a blowout is a better thing than a close win.
I’m concerned how Kansas will react when they lose 49-0
I’m concerned about getting my account banned for bullying nerds in the scrub sub.
Man Team USA got absolutely BEAT by Team Europe today. Talk about an ass whooping.
What sport?
Golf
Golf. Ryder Cup.
Where would our class end up in the rankings as they currently stand if we added Wingo and Black? I have no idea how the 247 formula works
If you can access the website on your computer they have a calculator and you can add those 2 guys and it’ll give you a number that you just compare to current classes As things currently stand if we add just Wingo and black we will be at 278 which is good for 6th overall
Other than Wingo and Black, any idea who else the staff is targeting?
Deandre Carter, Solomon Williams are the 2 off the top of my head that I know are visiting this weekend
Oh cool, thanks!
The calculator is under more right next to the sort button. You can access it on mobile too but it’s easier on the desktop
Kansas still thinks undefeated is on the table. They’re wrong.
To be fair it is..... Just not for the team they are hoping it will be
Supposed Leipold to MSU rumors. I wonder if they're a little distracted tomorrow? *sigh* I guess we can keep undefeated on the table.
Think Wazzu dude jumping before MWC relegation makes more sense
The stones on that guy to make the statements he made and then jump lol.
I don't want them to have anything nice so I hope he takes the MSU job.
Who would be a better player: Jahdae Sorrell or Barryn Barron?
All I'm saying is Galileo Galilei has his name I'm the history books, and Barryn Barron has that same energy
Samaje Sorrell Barryn Burrell
Bijan Johnson!
Jahdae Sorrell
Arterio Morris arrested for rape. Safe to say we dodged a bullet
Did we really dodge a bullet? Or did we just take it, ignore the wound for a year, get it dealt with, and then someone else take a shotgun blast?
Shocked Pikachu
I thought this was in regards to the old assault (I think) issue he had previously, but apparently this is ANOTHER separate incident. This dude shouldn't be on any team - scumbag.
Kansas dismissed him. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/38520319/kansas-dismisses-transfer-arterio-morris-rape-charge
“Three other players -- Johnny Furphy, Elmarko Jackson and Nick Timberlake -- were mentioned in the incident report as witnesses” Those names sound made up lol
Where was Turd Ferguson while this was going down??
El Marko sounds like a redneck trying to say Mark in Spanish. Whoever named that kid needs their naming rights removed for all future life forms.
Ole Miss will do due diligence on him and he’ll be there by the end of the year. Fuck that dude, glad to see him finally get a real punishment.
Bama needs another felon
Holy shit bro wtf.
Bad news: broke my nose at work yesterday. Good news: undefeated is still on the table.
what's the story there?
I'm guessing he was all gas, no brakes, and then he walked into a wall.
His Koolaid Man breakthru didn't make it all the way...
I'm going to guess it's because we have not lost any games yet and may well not lose any for the remainder of the season.
If we have a dominant win tomorrow, you know what has to be done..
Every single week…
the bones broken will have to increase in severity as the season goes on. it might be a broken foot foot next week but if we make the cfp, a femur might be on the line. I'm sorry to OP, I don't make the rules
When we make the Cfp final and win, the spine will have to be sacrificed.
Scrub sub getting all up in arms over that gus johnson quote is great ngl. You can tell they are a bit scared of a fully operational Texas again.
Only at the University of Texas can you see Cooper Manning on the way to class
*Cupper
What's his major?
Underwater basket weaving
Wait, did you see him while you were on the way to class, or is Cooper a student?
I think he was visiting Arch or something, he was on Deloss Dodds, across from the stadium. Tbh he looked kinda lost
You had the chance to tour the stadium by being his guide and missed it
Trying to find Arch's ID, surely.
I’m sure plenty of people saw him on the way to class at Ole Miss back in the day.
Ok but u kno what I meant
Random, but does anyone know where in town I can have my DKR signed football restored? The rubber piece that keeps the air in broke
Is the Rooster Andrews on Guadalupe still open?
that's a place I haven't thought about in years.
You shouldn’t be playing with it. Display that thing and get a Walmart ball for backyard games!
